Definitions
- the invention relates to a knife with a guide slot at the front end of a knife handle for guiding a blade that can be extended and retracted with respect to the guide slot and that can be clamped in the use position.
- Known knives of this type are used as tools, in particular for work which requires a very sharp cutting edge on the blade, such as for example for cutting carpets or for similar work by which the cutting edge becomes blunt relatively quickly, so that the blade then becomes must be replaced with a new one.
- the blade When the knife is not in use, the blade must be able to be pushed back completely into the knife handle in order to exclude the risk of injury from the sharp blade.
- a knife for use with long strip-shaped blades which have pre-punched break lines at equal distances from one another, in each case by the to be able to break off the foremost blade end that has become unusable along a break line, so that there is then again a sharp blade section at the front end of the blade.
- the blade contained in this knife in a blade magazine is gradually adjusted by means of a blade slide guided in the knife handle, which engages in the locking positions pushed into the use position at the front and clamped in the use position by means of a clamping screw at the front end of the knife handle.
- the known knife has the disadvantage that the length of the blade extended from the knife handle cannot be varied as desired and only a straight cutting edge is present on the blade that can be divided into individual blade sections due to the existing break lines.
- the knife for use with breakable blades excludes the use of special versions of blades.
- Another knife of this type is known from DE-OS 30 17 751, which contains a blade magazine in a hollow knife handle, and which also has a blade changer organ with different drivers which can be pushed in and out relative to the blade magazine, with different drivers, which make it possible to move a used blade from the guide slot of the knife back into the blade magazine contained in the knife handle and also to bring a new blade out of this blade magazine: into the front of the guide slot.
- This knife you don't have to take a new blade into your hand at all, so that there is no risk of injury is switched off because new and unusable blades circulate in the knife handle, in which a supply of blades is contained in the blade magazine.
- the blade In the guide slot of this knife, the blade is also moved forwards and backwards with the aid of a blade slide which can be locked in different latching positions, and when in use also in the latching position, it is held in the guide slot which must be machined very precisely for this reason.
- the object on which the present invention is based was to create a knife of the type mentioned at the outset which can be used for very differently configured blades which can be clamped on the knife handle with any length extended in the use position and which can also be clamped independently can be clamped arranged transversely to the guide slot, the knife should also be designed in relation to the working technique by applying pressure or by pulling in such a way that it fits better in the hand and the different working techniques can be carried out with less effort.
- the knife has the features according to claim 1 and is equipped in a further expedient embodiment with the features according to the dependent claims.
- Figure 1 shows the knife in schaubi 1dl icher representation.
- FIG. 2 shows a selection of six different blades for use with the knife according to FIG. 1;
- FIG. 3 shows a side view of the knife, broken open in the region of the clamping piece for the blade, FIG. 1 t;
- FIG. 4 shows the same side view of the knife as FIG. 3 with the blade inserted
- FIG. 5 is a narrow side view of the knife, cut open in the area of the actuating screw, shown in FIG. 1 t;
- FIG. 6 shows a partial section through the knife, showing the principle of the clamping lever effect
- FIG. 7 seen the lever-like clamping piece from the narrow side according to FIG. 6;
- 9 is a side view of the knife with the blade magazine in the knife handle
- FIG. 10 is a side view of the knife with the blade clamped transversely
- FIG. 11 shows a cross section through the knife handle housing along the line I-I in FIG. 10.
- the knife shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1 has a knife handle 1 which is cranked in such a way that a front section
- the knife handle 1 has in the front section 2 as well as in the 11 a substantially U-shaped housing 4 in cross section.
- a clamping piece 5 is fitted into the cross-sectionally U-shaped housing 4 from the open side thereof, which includes a guide slot 6 for a blade 7 between it and the housing 4.
- the clamping piece 5 extends from the front end of the knife handle to the offset in the knife handle 1 located between the front knife handle section 2 and the rear knife handle section 3.
- the front end edge 8 of the section of the knife handle containing the guide slot 6 does not run at right angles to the guide slot 6, but at an acute angle to this guide slot.
- the clamping piece 5 is designed as an elongated lever.
- the clamping piece 5 shown separately in FIG. 7 has an angled bearing pin 9 on the upper and lower longitudinal edge.
- the two staggered bearing journals 9 lie on a straight line running approximately parallel to the end edge 8 of the housing 4, which forms a pivot axis 10 for the clamping piece 5 designed as a lever (FIG. 3).
- the housing 4 has continuous recesses 11 near the front end, at a mutual distance from one another which corresponds to the distance between the two bearing pins 9 from one another.
- actuating screw 13 which is present against the clamping piece 5, namely against its longer lever arm 12a.
- This comprises a knurled nut 15 with an external thread bolt 14 which is threadedly engaged and whose U fangsf1 surface protrudes beyond the outside of the knife handle for the purpose of actuation.
- the knurled nut 15 is supported on the end face in the housing 4, and the external thread bolt 14 is held in a rotationally secured manner on a hexagon pin 16 which is fixedly connected to the housing 4, so that when the knurled nut 15 rotates, the external thread bolt 14 is displaced in the axial direction and the clamping piece 5 pivots .
- a slight swiveling movement is sufficient to press the small lever arm 12b of the clamping piece 5 against the blade 7 with a large force in order to clamp it in the guide slot 6 of the knife.
- the advantage of this type of clamping is that the blade 7 can be clamped out as far as desired if a sufficiently long section of the blade is gripped by the clamping piece 5.
- FIGS. 2a-2f the most varied types of blades, as are shown, for example, in FIGS. 2a-2f, can be clamped in any desired extended position without difficulty.
- - Schi iessl I it is also possible with this type of clamp fastening to clamp a blade 7 lying transversely to the guide slot, as shown in FIG. 10, which is not possible with any other knife of this type.
- the guide slot 6 for the blade 7, which is enclosed by the housing 4 and the clamping piece 5, is equipped with a channel-shaped recess 20 in the housing 4, in which a helical compression spring 21 is accommodated, by means of which the non-clamped blade 7 is pressed out of the guide slot if, for example, it is to be replaced (FIGS. 3 and 4).
- the spring 21 presses against a flat coupling piece 22 which is guided in a longitudinally movable manner in the guide slot, namely against an angled sheet-metal section 23 against which the spring end abuts.
- a flat coupling piece 22 bent upward sheet metal section 24 forms a mandrel which engages in an edge recess 25 on the blade 7.
- the blade 7 is guided precisely in the guide slot 6 and prevents the cutting edge of the blade from being damaged. 4, the coupled blade 7 is shown.
- the housing 4 has rib-like housing widenings 30 in the front section having the guide slot 6 on opposite housing sides.
- a stepped recess 31 is also formed in this widened housing end, through which a support surface lying in the plane of the guide slot 6 is formed 32 is formed, on which a blade can be clamped according to FIG. 10.
- the rib-like housing widening 30 on the underside simultaneously offers protection for the hand of the user of the knife, in order not to fall into the blade when the knife handle slips off.
- a corresponding projecting housing encompass 33 to protect the hand of the user is also at the rear end of the knife handle.
- these projecting housing parts 30 and 33 there are also transverse bores 34 and, at the rear end of the knife handle, there is also a receiving slot 35 which serve to fasten the knife to a device for mechanical linear guidance, not shown in the drawing. If the knife is not guided by hand, but is fastened in such a device, a precisely vertical cut is achieved, for example, when cutting carpets and this can prevent the carpet floor from being cut to the right or left of the cutting line, which is what happens easily when less accurately guiding the knife by hand so that then in abutting congress ⁇ a little careful work • edge is visible.
- a blade magazine 37 In order to always have a sufficient supply of blades for working with the knife, a blade magazine 37 according to FIG. 9 containing a plurality of blades is arranged in the hollow section 3 of the knife handle 1 at the rear, which is pushed in from the rear narrow side of the knife.
- the housing 4 has in this rear section 3 on the top egg egg 38 for the removal of one blade from the blade magazine.
- a lockable actuating device 39 is used which can be pivoted about a pivot axis 40 in the blade magazine and on which one blade is supported at the bottom in order to pivot it upward out of the slot 38.
- the knife handle housing 4 A pivotable protective flap 41 is arranged above the actuating screw 13.
- the knife has the advantages that, due to the offset of the knife handle, handling when working with the knife is much cheaper, that the most varied types of blades and, in addition to the blades shown in FIG. 2, saw blades with a width corresponding to the guide slot 6 are used can - that the hand of the user is protected and the knife can also be attached in an additional device to guide it in a straight line.

The knife used as a craftsman's tool and having interchangeable blades comprises a handle (1) whose front (2) and rear (3) parts consist of a box (4) of essentially U-shaped section and of a piece clamp (5) housed in the front part (2) of the housing (4). Part (5) is a pivoting lever carrying at its upper and lower surfaces pivots (9) which are housed in the corresponding recesses (11) of the casing (4) and which function as hinges. A screw (13) of the casing (4) which can be actuated along an axis perpendicular to the pivot axis of the pivot part (5), presses on the longer section (12a) of the part (5). A slot (6) formed by the inner flat surface of the housing (4) and the part (5), receives a blade (7) which can be advanced or retracted. The shorter section of the piece (5) located in front of the pivot (9), clamps the blade (7) in the slot (6), when the longer section of the piece is pivoted outwards using the screw (13). The advantage of this knife is that any blade can be used and clamped in a more or less advanced position.
