Abstract

Lavatory seat (1) linked together by a hinge with a back board (3) which is leaned against a wall and predisposed to contain a neat pile of paper (4), hollow punched, lavatory seat sheets treated with various adhesive zones (9,10,11). The lavatory seat (1) has, anteriorly, a handle (2) for raising the seat with one or more adhesive pads (6) which come in contact with a corrisponding adhseive zone (9) found on each lavatory seat sheet (4). The invention is predisposed in such a way that, upon using a single lavatory seat sheet (4) is withdrawn from the pile and positioned correctly on the lavatory seat (1) itself.

Description

  • This invention refers to a lavatory seat with back board for public lavatories, offices, etc., adapted for distributing and placing lavatory seat sheets made of paper or similar material. This invention intends to resolve, in a practical and functional manner, the problem which arises in public and/or communities water closets with ensuring hygienically safe seats of the water closet bowl. This solution has been studied in many practical trials and considering its rather simple, it is believed that it can have a wide range of application. Essentially, the invention foresees that the usual lavatory seat, only slightly modified, is linked together and attached to the back board by a hinge. The back board is rather thick, it leans against the wall and it contains a pile of of hollow punched paper (or other appropriate material) sheets suitable to act as seat covers. The lavatory seat sheets have rubber in specified areas which have the function of making it possible to automatically detach a single sheet and assure a certain antislip effect in coming in contact with the lavatory seat.
  • The lavatory seat, according to the invention, is represented as a non-exhaustive example in the following design, the figures of which demonstrate:
    • Fig.1 - A perspective view, in the standard position, of the lavatory seat properly installed and one embodiment of the back board hinged to the lavatory seat containing a pile of hollow punched lavatory seat sheets. The lavatory back board is leaned against the nearby room wall - not shown - and shows the lavatory seat sheets ready for individual withdrawl from the pile.
    • Fig.2 - A view halfway through the operation of deataching a lavatory seat sheet, during which the lavatory seat is raised operating on the suitable anteriorly applied handle.
    • Fig.3 - A view at the end of the phase represented in fig.2, where a small plaque, with an adhesive surface, that is part of said handle, touches the corrisponding rubber area found on the lavatory seat sheets.
    • Fig.4 - A view during the phase of lowering the lavatory seat with the lavatory seat sheet adhering to it in the correct position.
  • As clearly shown in the said figures, the invention is based on a normal lavatory seat (1) for lavatories in which anteriorly a handle (2) for raising the lavatory seat is applied. A back board (3) is hinged posteriorly to the lavatory seat, it has a certain deepness in order to contain a certain number of hollow punched lavatory seat sheets (4) of paper or other material with similar characteristics. For reasons described further on, the handle (2) for raising the lavatory seat has on its upper surface an adhesive area shaped as a rectangular plaque housed in a proper housing cavity foreseen on the lavatory seat. The handle is attached to the lavatory seat with screws (5) which also have the function of fixing two pads (6) of auto-adhesive or rubber strips with long lasting properties. The lavatory back board (3), as shown in the figures, possesses an adequate form to the lavatory seat (1) and it has peripheriacally a rather high border which acts as a place holder for the pile of lavatory seat sheets that it contains. This is further assured by an appropriately shaped protrusion (7) which originates from the central zone of the back board in order to act on the internal hole in the hollow punched lavatory seat sheets (4).
  • The whole is finished by a couple of supports or pins (8) applied to the internal border of the back board (3) in order to be easily replaced. These supports (8) have the function of holding the remaining lavatory seat sheets (4) when an individual seat is withdrawn. The ideal protrusion of the supports with respect to the functioning may depend on the inclination that the back board (3) assumes when leaning against the wall. Therefore the supports can be substituted with others of varying lengths.
  • According to another characterizing embodiment of the invention, the hollow punched lavatory seat sheets (4) are singularly treated with rubber latex applied on areas as followed: on the anterior zone (9) with a rectangular surface which sticks (fig.3) to the adhesive pads (6) of the plaque of the lifting handle (2) and on the two central zones (10 and 11) in the curved shape of the oval hollow punched sheets. This assures the robustness of the structure of the paper material of the sheet and also an antislip function when in contact with the lavatory seat (1) which assures a correct positioning of the sheet in the withdrawing and utilization phases. It is important to underline furthermore that the latex in such areas comes from a rather elastic and resistant film which keeps the skin of the buttocks from coming in contact with the lavatory seat in case the lavatory seat sheet rips.
  • All of the above as described and represented, susceptible to changes and perfectioning, being the fundamental concept of the invention and realization with the materials and dimensions held to be most appropriate.

Claims (6)

1. Lavatory seat for public lavatories, offices, etc., adapted for distributing and placing lavatory seat sheets made of paper or other similar material, characterized by the fact that it is linked together by a hinge to the back board of appropriate shape which is leaning against a wall, the lavatory back board is rather thick so that it can contain a certain number of lavatory seat sheets of hollow punched paper, sheets that at each raising of the lavatory seat are withdrawn one by one.
2. Lavatory seat as claimed in claim 1, characterized by the fact that anteriorly, in the appropriate lowered position, the lavatory seat has a protruding handle for raising the seat, the handle, which on its rectangular base has one or more holding pads of adhesive material which coincide with the corrisponding zone of the hollow punched lavatory seat sheets traeted with rubber latex.
3. Lavatory seat as claimed in claims 1 and 2, characterized by the fact that the relative hinged back board has at its center a shaped protrusion raised from it which acts on the internal hole of the hollow punched lavatory seat sheets to hold them in place.
4. Lavatory seat as claimed in claims 1 to 3, characterized by the fact that the hinged back board, has superiorly, on the internal part of its border, a couple of replaceable supports or pins protruding from it which have the function of holding in place, up to a certain limit, the lavatory seat sheets, at the moment of withdrawl of an individual sheet, by the holding pads foreseen anteriorly on the actual lavatory seat.
5. Lavatory seat as claimed in claims 1 to 4, characterized by the fact that the lavatory seat paper sheets destined to be withdrawn by the lavatory seat when it is raised completely, have on each sheet a small zone treated with rubber latex positioned in such a way as to come in contact with the holding pads foreseen on the plaque that is found on the handle which protrudes from the anterior part of the lavatory seat.
6. Lavatory seat as claimed in claims 1 to 5, characterized the fact that the lavatory seat paper sheets, close to the hollow punched oval internal hole, in at least two other areas, have on each one areas treated with rubber latex which have an antislip function and act also as a reinforcement of the paper fiber of which the sheets are made.
