Definitions

  • the invention relates to a compacting block, in particular for household waste, consisting of a container fed by a feed chute, a removable wall with slightly decreasing section from the bottom towards the opening, doubling inside. the container wall and a piston, the rod of which is provided with means for cyclically moving it between a low position inside the container and a high position and for exerting compaction pressure in the low position.
  • the available compacting blocks are used by placing a bag of flexible material such as plastic between the wall of the container and the removable wall.
  • this removable wall protects the bag and prevents its deterioration either by the compacted garbage or by the piston itself.
  • the removable wall is removed and the undercut it has created for the compacted garbage makes it possible to extract the bag containing this garbage.
  • the object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and, to do this, the container has a rectangular section, the removable wall consisting of as many flat flaps as the container has faces, while each removable flap has a wing. attachment formed by two successive folds of the flap, the first of which has a slope directed towards the interior of the container, a spacer being disposed in the fold, against the flap Thanks to this very economical arrangement at the manufacturing level, each flat flap is easily removed individually from the container because there is no stress against the compacted refuse. Cleaning the shutters is easy, and they take up little space.
  • the first folds of the removable elements all create around the container a funnel, which facilitates the fall of garbage inside the container. Furthermore, the necessary undercut is obtained in a particularly simple manner by the spacing member which can be a simple cleat. Finally, the folds and the spacers ensure that the edges of the bag are folded over the container.
  • the piston is articulated on the rod in the vicinity of its bottom and carries an inverted U-shaped stirrup, the branches of which receive, at the height of the piston, pads engaged with slides.
  • the compaction block shown is disposed inside a chassis 1 provided on its front face with an inspection door 2 and an access door 3 to the container 4 supplied by a chute 5 located on the rear face .
  • This chute 5 conventionally ends in a hatch 6 disposed in a work surface 7 which may be inside a kitchen while the block itself is either outside or embedded in the wall.
  • the chassis 1 is surmounted by a box 8 containing the known means and not shown for cyclically moving the piston 9 via the jack 10 from the low position shown in the drawing to a high position beyond the chute and to exert a compaction pressure in the low position when garbage has been introduced through the hatch 6 and the chute 5.
  • the container 4 is of prismatic shape, preferably parallelipipedic; its four vertical walls are doubled inside by flat flaps 11 provided at their upper part with a double fold, the first 12 with a slope directed towards the interior of the container, the second 13 converging slightly towards the flap 11.
  • a cleat 14 by which each of the flaps necessarily hangs from the corresponding wall of the container by the slightly acute angle between the folds 12 and 13 and thus takes an inclined position whereby the interior of the container is found to have an undercut appearance, since its section increases from the upper part of the container where it is delimited by the four flaps to the lower part of the container 4 where it is practically equal to the section of the container itself.
  • the piston 9 itself is produced in the form of a body similar to the body of the hollow container 4, the bottom of which receives a U-shaped iron 16 carrying the axis 17 of articulation of the rod 18 of the jack 10.
  • the two sheets forming the upper wall of the piston are folded to form two uprights 19 which, on the one hand, allow the passage of the rod 18 and, on the other hand, receive a double inverted U-shaped caliper 20 which envelops the piston and whose four descending branches 21 are thus at the same height of the piston outside the container 4 and capable of covering it.
  • These branches 21 are joined by plates 22 which carry pads 23 engaged with slides 24 formed by folds of the side walls of the chassis 1.
  • the user when the container 4 has been removed from the frame 1 by the door 3 and emptied, first places a plastic bag 15 in the container so that its edges overflow and fold outwards. He then places the four flaps 13 which are positioned as shown in FIG. 3.
  • the compacting block can then be used in a conventional manner.
  • the piston When the piston is in the high position the garbage is discharged through the chute 5 and the hatch 6. The piston is then brought into the low position by its operating means 8 pressure is exerted to compact the discharged garbage.
  • the piston is guided exclusively by the pads 23 which cooperate with the slides 24 at its height without influence from the rod 18 which is articulated on the axis 17. It therefore moves parallel to itself without being influenced by the pressure point and thus cooperates best with the fixed assembly constituted by the container 4, the bag 15 and the flaps 11.
  • the fold 12 of the flap 13 placed under the opening of the chute 5 facilitates the flow of garbage, while the same folds 12 of the other three flaps return them to the interior of the container. It will also have been noted that the bag is protected by the four flaps 11 and held in position by the double folds 12 and 13 and the tabs 14.
  • the user can extract the bag 15, close it and evacuate it as usual. If necessary, the shutters can be easily cleaned, stored or changed since their volume and cost are extremely low.
