An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 6 to 10, characterized in that those edges of the glue applying plate (11) which are situated crosswise to the feed of the two veneer pieces (2,3) have slopes or like guide faces (14) for the strip-like veneer pieces (2,3) and their toothed butting locations (1), said slopes or guide faces ascending towards the top side of said plate.
  12. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 6 to 11, characterized in that the glue applicator (8) is movable over the glue applying plate (11), particularly one of metal, so as to pass down the middle thereof oriented crosswise to the direction in which the veneer pieces (2,3) are moved and acts upon preferably a fraction of the width (B) of the glue applying surface (7), particularly in the centre portion thereof.
  13. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 7 to 12, characterized in that the guide or press bar (12) has a width running in the direction in which the veneer pieces move as they are pushed together which corresponds preferably to at least about a quarter of the length of the interengageable teeth provided on the veneer pieces, and that the guide surface forming part of said guide or press bar (12) and facing the veneer pieces is parallel to the glue applying surface (7).
  14. An apparatus as claimed in claim 13, characterized in that the width of the guide or press bar (12) corresponds to about a third to half the length of the teeth of the veneer pieces or to about the entire length of said teeth.
