Definitions
- the invention relates to a wheel-fitted wet and dry vacuum cleaner with a motor-blower unit and a settling chamber arranged upstream thereof via a filter of the type specified in the introductory part of patent claim 1 and shown in US Pat. No. 4,463,474.
- Dry vacuum cleaners are widely used to pick up larger quantities of suction material or larger pieces of suction material. They can be used, for example, in the house and garden to pick up coarse waste as well as moist waste, such as leaves, they can be used for a variety of purposes in industry and commerce, and there is also the possibility of using them to puddle water yourself to absorb spilled liquids or the like.
- the barrel-shaped container forming the settling space also represents the main load-bearing component: a wheel construction is connected to the base of the container, which is usually made of sheet steel for reasons of stability, while the motor-blower unit in one connects the vacuum cleaner upward-closing lid provided is.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of creating a wet and dry vacuum cleaner which, due to good running properties and a low center of gravity, can be moved easily and safely by means of a handle designed as a handle, and can be opened easily and with only a small amount of force by opening the lid spanning the container allows, so that the emptying of the container provided as a settling space is simple and easy.
- the chassis expediently has a structure and a footprint for a removable container, which is overlapped by an upwardly pivotable lid, which is stable in its operating position according to the invention by a locking device which is effective when the lid is closed and by a simple , In the area of the handle arranged operating element allows the bolt to be withdrawn and thus the lid to be opened.
- the emptying of the container is thus very simple: it is only necessary, expediently after the motor-blower unit has been switched off Remove the lid from the upper free opening of the container so that it can be removed from its storage space. This also gives you the opportunity to work with several containers, possibly of different sizes: During work, with the container full, only a short interruption is required to swing up the lid and replace the container. The actual emptying can take place in subordinate process steps, and since only simple containers are used in principle, the effort of holding several interchangeable containers is low.
- containers of different sizes can be used, for example by providing latching projections on the storage surface in order to keep containers of smaller diameter also central, and in adaptation to this it is possible to equip either different containers with edge areas of the same diameter , or to accommodate seals of different effective diameters on the cover.
- a chassis 1 which can be moved by means of wheels 2 and 3.
- the wheels 3 of larger diameter are expediently provided in pairs with a relatively large distance, while only one of the pivotally held wheels 2 is optionally provided in the center, or the wheels 2 can be arranged with a reduced base.
- the undercarriage 1 has a frame-like enclosed storage area 4, on which a separate and relatively simply designed container 6, which is equipped with recessed grips 5 to facilitate handling, is applied.
- a structure 7 is provided at one end, in the lower part 8 of which the motor-blower unit 9 is provided. Not shown in the figure is an expedient pressure connection leading to the right, by means of which the motor-blower unit can also be used as a compressor.
- a suction pipe 10 is connected, which seals against a joint 15 on the end face of a connecting pipe 12, which is provided in a substantially prismatic cover 11 which is pivotable about an axis 13 or a hinge which be carried by body 7.
- the free end of the connecting tube 12 passes through an opening provided in the lower surface of the cover 11 and is in turn overlaid by a filter 16. Also not shown is the support of the lower surface of the cover 11, which may be slightly set back against the circumferential lower edge, which rests on the free end surface of the container 6 by means of a soft-elastic seal. Another opening in the lower surface of the cover 11 leads to a swivel sleeve 14 pivotably arranged in the cover 11 for the connection of suction hoses or suction pipes.
- the inner end of the swivel sleeve has a lateral opening and extends into a closed trough of the cover 11, which is only opened downwards in the direction of the container 6, and the mouth of which is optionally covered by further, downwardly projecting wall areas against the filter 16 .
- the filter itself can also be equipped with a covering. It has also proven to be expedient to assign a ball float valve to the mouth of the connecting pipe 12, the specific light ball of which, for example, a table tennis ball, is provided by a possible surge of water is raised and pressed against a sealing seat, so that at least the connecting pipe 12 is protected from the ingress of water, but also expediently the filter 16 from soaking.
- the filter 16 can be surrounded by a housing, for example made of plastic, which has the ball float valve in the core area and encompasses the actual filter material with jacket areas.
- a wet and dry vacuum cleaner constructed in this way has good driving properties as a function of the task: due to the low positioning of both the container 6 and the motor-blower unit 9, a desired low center of gravity results, the wheels 3 of large diameter result in a correspondingly good driving behavior while the swiveling wheels 2 ensure steerability.
- Handles are expediently provided for handling, which extend outwards or can be provided in depressions, but were not taken into account in the figure.
- the handling of the suction hose does not cause any problems, since the swivel sleeve 14 can be swiveled as desired and overlaps the smooth upper surface of the wet-dry vacuum cleaner.
- the containers themselves are of a very simple construction and are therefore inexpensive to manufacture, so that replacement containers can be easily obtained.
- a level indicator, pumps for spraying or cleaning agents or the like can be accommodated in the upper areas of the structure 7, but expediently also in its essentially closed lower part 8.
- an outward connection of the pressure side of the blower can also be provided, so that the motor-blower unit can also be used as a compressor.
- it has been found to be useful to assign a cleaning device to the filter for example by transferring impacts or vibrations, to remove dirt, which can be operated manually or by power. A long service life of the filter and only superficial penetration and retention of dirt is achieved anyway by appropriately large dimensions of the filter surface.
- a further advantage is that not only different container sizes can be used in the selected structure, but also different types can be achieved with the same structural parts, in that the motor of the motor-blower unit can be selected from several motors of different powers already during construction, so that the wet and dry vacuum cleaner can be driven, for example, with a motor of 800 watts, but motors of 1 kW, 1.1 kW or 1.2 kW can also be used to increase the output without the list of those mentioned by way of example Services are to be regarded as exhaustive.
- handles are provided at different points in the figure to relieve the depiction, which can be designed as a rod, handles of shorter length or as recessed handles.
- the cover 11 is expediently equipped with soft seals which rest on, surround or engage in container edges, which can be designed according to one container size or else several container sizes. It has proven advantageous to have the cover 11 and the chassis 1 at the left-hand end with a semicircular base equip; on the other hand, it is also possible to use not only round, but also an elliptically shaped base container 6 as well as containers which are closed off from the structure 7 by a flat flank. In all of these cases, in addition to improved driving properties, considerable ease and simplification of operation are achieved.
- FIG. 2 A modified embodiment is shown in FIG. 2 in a side view and in FIG. 3 in a top view.
- the removable container 29 is equipped with a connecting sleeve 17 for a suction hose.
- the sealing cover 11 carries the filter, not shown here.
- the motor 18 is turned away from the rear wall 28 and the fan 19 driven by it is arranged facing the rear wall. From the blower, the suction channel 20 extends up to a transverse channel 21 provided at the level of the lid hinge. Care is taken here that when the lid 11 is opened, for example for cleaning or replacing the filter, dirt adhering to it does not get into the Suction line is taken over by interrupting it.
- Hinge tubes 23 are provided as hinge bolts. They have a grip disk 25, which is also effective as a stop and seal, from which a tubular extension 24 extends, which is equipped with a groove 26 and a side window 27. When inserted, the groove 26 is pushed over a projection of the fixed hinge middle part and is thus connected to the latter in a rotationally fixed manner. A tight, tight fit is achieved by a tight fit, possibly using a locking ring groove, so that the fork ends of the cover around the hinge pin acting tubular shaft are pivotable. As the top view of the cover 11 of FIG.
- the suction channel of the cover leads into two diverging side channels 22 in such a way that they lead in front of the tube extensions 24 of the hinge tubes 23.
- Their windows 27 are arranged so that they are in front of the outlet openings of the side channels 22 when the lid 1 is closed. - If the cover 11 is now pivoted up, the outlet openings of the side channels 22 also pivot and run around the pipe extensions 24, leave the windows 27 and are sealed by the lateral surfaces of the pipe extensions 24 following the windows in the pivoting direction.
- the open ends of the pipe lugs are always connected to the suction channel 20 via the transverse channel 21 formed between them.
- the inner wall 34 is expediently designed to be solid, while the outer rear wall 28 can be removed or swung out.
- the space 31 between them can be used to accommodate additional and / or spare parts.
- a further space 30 located underneath, like other unused parts of the engine and blower compartment, can accommodate additional or control units, for example special spray pumps and tanks belonging to them, but also switching means and the like.
- the suction channel 20 is also connected to the inner wall 34 and passed through the space 31.
- a container 29 which has a recess into which the motor 14 engages.
- a vertically continuous recess is expediently provided.
- the motor-blower chamber and channels 33 are used for the air flow, which result from the lateral gripping of the container.
- the air output of the blower 19 and the cooling air of the motor 18 can be detected and blown out separately, even if a common ventilation grille 32 is provided for this purpose.
- a winding device for the power cord is also preferably provided in the lower regions.
- a spray pump including the required tank and the spray line
- an additional, closed unit which, for example, can be hung in front of the rear wall 28 and can be operated via separate sockets.
- FIG. 7 shows a further modified wet-dry vacuum cleaner in a side view, parts known from FIGS. 2 and 4 not being described in particular.
- Handling is facilitated in that not only is the container 29 provided with handles, recessed grips or the like, as shown in FIG. 1, but also the lid 11 is equipped with a handle, the carrying handle 35.
- the handle 35 is provided with a manually operable latch lever 36, the latch arm 37 of which is expediently not provided by one biased spring shown, in the starting position engages behind a solid surface of the structure 7, so that the lid 11 is locked to the structure.
- the wet and dry vacuum cleaner as a whole can now be lifted on the handle or directed using the handle, without the risk of lifting the locked lid.
- the lid is to be opened, for example for exchanging or checking the container 29 or the filter insert 50, then with the gripping of the handle 35 the ratchet lever 36 is also gripped and pivoted against the force of a spring biasing it so that the Pawl of the pawl arm 37 is pulled out from behind the surface of the structure 7 holding it and the lock is thus released.
- the lid can now be pivoted upwards separately, whereby, as described in particular in connection with FIG.
- the suction channel 20 of the blower 19 is covered by the hinge tubes 23 with the pivoting of the lid, so that the side channels 22 are no longer connected to the suction nozzle of the blower 19 are connected and there is no longer any risk of sucking in unfiltered air.
- Different channels are provided for blowing out the blown air and the cooling air of the motor 18, which lead to the ventilation grilles 38 and 39 covering their mouths.
- the ventilation grille 38 which discharges the blower air, it is advisable to back it up by means of an exchangeable fine filter in the form of a clampable fleece in order to prevent the blowing out of fine dust as much as possible; however, it may be advisable to also equip the ventilation grille 39 with an appropriate filter. Either such filters are held by frames arranged behind the ventilation grilles, or the ventilation grilles themselves can be removed from the outside and reused after inserting the fleece filter.
- the connecting cable can be automatically rolled up and pulled off again by means of a drum biased by a spring, so that in 7 only the mains plug 40 of the rolled-in mains cable can be seen.
- device sockets 41 for connecting further electrical devices are shown.
- Such a device socket 41 can be connected directly or via fuses to the mains cable of the wet and dry vacuum cleaner, but there is also the possibility of switching on switching elements by means of which either the device socket can be switched or the vacuum cleaner depending on the current draw from the Device socket is switchable.
- a plurality of sockets can be provided, some of which can be connected in parallel, but can also have different circuits.
- the pulled-out power cord is expediently locked in its respective position in a manner known per se.
- the lock can be released by pressing the pull-in button 42 for rolling in the mains cable, and in the same way the wet-dry vacuum cleaner itself can be switched on and off by foot pressure by means of the mains switch 43.
- Such mains and operating mode switches can be arranged both in the lower areas of the wet and dry vacuum cleaner in order to be actuated by foot, but they can also be provided in the structure, in the lid or on the handle 35 for manual adjustment, for example in an expedient manner to a panel 47 widened area of the handle 35.
- display devices which show the operating state and which, for example, monitor the vacuum, pressure drop on the filter or the like and display them as appropriate .
- the air supply for the cooling circuit of the electric motor can be effected via a further ventilation grille 44; but there is also the possibility of drawing the air in over the floor of the undercarriage in the direction of arrow 45.
- FIG. 7 shows a vertical section through the wet-dry vacuum cleaner of FIG. 8. Also only those parts are mentioned here which differ from those of FIG. 5 or are shown with further details.
- the container 29 has on its right side, starting from the bottom, up to a partial height an indentation 54 which surrounds the electric motor 18 and thus allows a compact construction. Above this indentation, the base area of the container 29 increases so that the filter device 16 can be pivoted into this area of the container 29 from above by means of the cover 11.
- the filter device has a float chamber 48, which is connected via two openings to a recess in the cover and thus the side channels 22 of FIG. 3.
- the float 49 is provided in the form of an air-filled plastic ball in the float chamber 48.
- a filter insert 50 is stretched out in front of the float chamber, the edge regions of which can be attached, for example, to pins 51, and which, for example made of folded or plate material, overlaps the left end of the float chamber.
- the power cable 53 drawn onto a spring drum 52 is shown, which at the same time can be cooled if necessary by the cooling air drawn in for the motor in the direction of arrow 45.
- FIG. 9 A schematic representation of the guidance of both the cooling air of the electric motor and the blower exhaust air is given in FIG. 9.
- Water that has reached the blower can leave the chamber 86 via a water outlet opening 89 and a further opening located below it, with partition walls 90 preventing air from passing through.
- the cooling air leaving the electric motor is discharged between the partition walls 90 and 92 via lower air outlet openings.
- FIG. 10 schematically shows a top view of a float chamber 56, which is laterally encompassed by a filter insert 50 spanning a segment-shaped opening.
- the invention is not restricted to such folded and / or plate filters; other filters, for example cartridge filters or other standard filters, can also be used if the float chamber is designed accordingly.
- Fig. 11 is shown in vertical section and broken off the handle portion of the lid of a wet and dry vacuum cleaner with a lid and structure locking device which largely corresponds to that indicated in Fig. 7.
- the cover 11, which can be pivoted about hinge tubes 23, is provided with a handle 35, which is gripped by a recessed grip 46, which is hooked on the right-hand side and screwed to the cover 11 on the left-hand side.
- the handle 35 is connected to a pivot pin about which a lever button 61 is pivotable, which is biased into the position shown with a spring, not shown, and which is equipped with a ratchet lever 62, the pawl engages behind a support surface 63 of the structure 7.
- a handle 35 of a cover 11 underpinned by a recessed grip 46 A lever button 65 is mounted in a recess in the cover and has a switching arm 66 as an angle lever has, the club-like thickened end engages in a guide 67 and within the same in a recess of a bolt 69, which is biased to the right by a spring 68 and engages in a support profile 70 and thus locks the lid 11 and the structure 7 together.
- the handle 35 the wet and dry vacuum cleaner can be lifted if necessary, but can also be safely maneuvered and moved without the risk of unintentional opening of the lid.
- the lever button 65 is pressed down slightly, the switching arm 66 is pivoted clockwise and pulls the latch 69 out from behind the surface of the support profile 70 which supports it, so that the lid can now be swung up freely.
- FIG. 13 Another locking device which can be operated by means of a toggle 71 is shown schematically in FIG. 13.
- the cover 11 is provided with a carrying handle 35 underpinned by a recessed grip 46.
- a toggle 71 is slidable in a trough of the cover, which is pushed onto a tab 72, which is released and bent up from a bolt 75 which is displaceable in a housing 73 inserted into the cover and biased by means of a spring 74.
- the free right end of the bolt 75 is fork-shaped and biased to a striker 76 which is inserted with a base plate 77 into a recess in the structure 7 and fixed there.
- a slide 78 provided with a run-up slope protrudes upward, the width of which within the run-up slope and a short subsequent guide piece exceeds the width of the fork opening of the bolt 75, so that when it is closed it is pressed back against the force of the spring 74. It is only when the closing state is reached that a narrower shaft area 79 of the closing piece 76 is reached, which pushes it forward of the bolt allowed, so that now the two flanks of the fork opening are able to reach under the shoulders formed at the end of the narrow shaft region 79. By pushing the toggle 71 to the left, the bolt under these shoulders can be pulled out again and the cover unlocked.
- FIG. 14 Another variant is shown in FIG. 14. With the locking device remaining unchanged, the toggle causing the actuation is replaced by a rotary toggle 80 which engages with an eccentrically arranged bolt 81 in an elongated hole which is introduced into the bent free end 82 of the tab 72. By pivoting the rotary toggle in the sense indicated by the ring arrow 83, the bolt 75 can be withdrawn and thus effect the unlocking.
Description
The invention relates to a wheel-fitted wet and dry vacuum cleaner with a motor-blower unit and a settling chamber arranged upstream thereof via a filter of the type specified in the introductory part of patent claim 1 and shown in US Pat. No. 4,463,474. Dry vacuum cleaners are widely used to pick up larger quantities of suction material or larger pieces of suction material. They can be used, for example, in the house and garden to pick up coarse waste as well as moist waste, such as leaves, they can be used for a variety of purposes in industry and commerce, and there is also the possibility of using them to puddle water yourself to absorb spilled liquids or the like.
In practice, however, it has been shown that the handling of such wet-dry vacuums proves to be undesirably awkward in a number of applications. On the other hand, in a number of cases there is a desire to additionally increase the volume of the settling space. In the known wet-dry vacuum cleaners, the barrel-shaped container forming the settling space also represents the main load-bearing component: a wheel construction is connected to the base of the container, which is usually made of sheet steel for reasons of stability, while the motor-blower unit in one connects the vacuum cleaner upward-closing lid provided is. This not only results in an unfavorably high center of gravity, for emptying the suction device it is also necessary to detach and lift the lid, which is heavy as a result of the combination with the motor-blower unit, from the container, while at the same time that with the lower part of the Container connected undercarriage hinders its emptying.
The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a wet and dry vacuum cleaner which, due to good running properties and a low center of gravity, can be moved easily and safely by means of a handle designed as a handle, and can be opened easily and with only a small amount of force by opening the lid spanning the container allows, so that the emptying of the container provided as a settling space is simple and easy.
This is achieved by means of the features given in claim 1. The chassis expediently has a structure and a footprint for a removable container, which is overlapped by an upwardly pivotable lid, which is stable in its operating position according to the invention by a locking device which is effective when the lid is closed and by a simple , In the area of the handle arranged operating element allows the bolt to be withdrawn and thus the lid to be opened.
The emptying of the container is thus very simple: it is only necessary, expediently after the motor-blower unit has been switched off Remove the lid from the upper free opening of the container so that it can be removed from its storage space. It can also be taken into account here that containers of different sizes can be used, for example by providing latching projections on the storage surface in order to keep containers of smaller diameter also central, and in adaptation to this it is possible to equip either different containers with edge areas of the same diameter , or to accommodate seals of different effective diameters on the cover.

The undercarriage 1 has a frame-like enclosed storage area 4, on which a separate and relatively simply designed
A wet and dry vacuum cleaner constructed in this way has good driving properties as a function of the task: due to the low positioning of both the
It proves to be advantageous that there is space in the upper parts of the
A further advantage is that not only different container sizes can be used in the selected structure, but also different types can be achieved with the same structural parts, in that the motor of the motor-blower unit can be selected from several motors of different powers already during construction, so that the wet and dry vacuum cleaner can be driven, for example, with a motor of 800 watts, but motors of 1 kW, 1.1 kW or 1.2 kW can also be used to increase the output without the list of those mentioned by way of example Services are to be regarded as exhaustive. To further simplify operation, as already mentioned, handles, not shown, are provided at different points in the figure to relieve the depiction, which can be designed as a rod, handles of shorter length or as recessed handles. The
A modified embodiment is shown in FIG. 2 in a side view and in FIG. 3 in a top view. The
In order to automatically cause such an interruption, the hinge holding the lid is designed as a valve.
It has proven useful, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, to design the
In order to achieve a compact structure, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 6, a
The motor-blower chamber and
A winding device for the power cord is also preferably provided in the lower regions.
However, there is also the possibility of designing special units, for example a spray pump, including the required tank and the spray line, as an additional, closed unit, which, for example, can be hung in front of the
Different channels are provided for blowing out the blown air and the cooling air of the
To facilitate operation, the connecting cable can be automatically rolled up and pulled off again by means of a drum biased by a spring, so that in 7 only the mains plug 40 of the rolled-in mains cable can be seen. In addition to the mains plug,
The pulled-out power cord is expediently locked in its respective position in a manner known per se. The lock can be released by pressing the pull-
The air supply for the cooling circuit of the electric motor can be effected via a
Plattenmaterial hergestellt, das linke Ende der Schwimmerkammer übergreift.7 shows a vertical section through the wet-dry vacuum cleaner of FIG. 8. Also only those parts are mentioned here which differ from those of FIG. 5 or are shown with further details. In particular, the structure and arrangement of the
In the lower area, the
A schematic representation of the guidance of both the cooling air of the electric motor and the blower exhaust air is given in FIG. 9.
However, the invention is not restricted to such folded and / or plate filters; other filters, for example cartridge filters or other standard filters, can also be used if the float chamber is designed accordingly.
In Fig. 11 is shown in vertical section and broken off the handle portion of the lid of a wet and dry vacuum cleaner with a lid and structure locking device which largely corresponds to that indicated in Fig. 7.
The
However, it has been shown that occasional unwanted triggers can occur with a direct connection of the locking device and handle. 12 therefore proposes a locking device in which the triggering of the
Here, too, cut transversely this time, a
Another locking device which can be operated by means of a
Another variant is shown in FIG. 14. With the locking device remaining unchanged, the toggle causing the actuation is replaced by a rotary toggle 80 which engages with an eccentrically arranged bolt 81 in an elongated hole which is introduced into the bent
