- This invention relates to personal identi ication cards, credit cards, and the like, which have embedded within them circuitry, usually including a microcomputer, for storing and processing data and which are adapted to interact with an external apparatus for accessing and modifying data stored in the card. More particularly, it relates to an improved method and means for transferring data between such cards and apparatus.

Abstract
Une carte informatisée portant des données (10) comporte un microordinateur (12) interne et est conçue de sorte que des données numérisées puissent être lues à partir du microordinateur et introduites dans ce dernier par une unité de lecture/écriture indépendante. La communication entre la carte et l'unité de lecture/écriture se fait au moyen de transducteurs photoélectriques interactifs (14, 18) prévus dans la carte et ladite unité. Les circuits à l'intérieur de la carte sont mis sous tension électrique par une bobine d'induction électromagnétique (20) à partir de l'unité de lecture/écriture, rendant ainsi superflus des piles internes, des branchements électriques sur des alimentations externes, et des commutateurs électriques.
