Claims (35)

1. Pen means for a recorder having two chart-bearing discs, the said recorder comprising a housing (1), a window (2) hinged to the said housing and a mechanism for driving the chart-bearing discs, the said pen means comprising supporting means and pen means by which records may be inscribed simultaneously on two chart-bearing discs, characterised in that it comprises a fixed table (5; 105) mounted on the window (2) at a distance from the inside face (6; 106) of the latter and a moving table (7; 107) pivotally mounted about an axis (100; 300), the said axis being borne by a rear portion of the window and substantially parallel to the hinge axis of the said window, in that a pen member (10; 110) is fixed on a support (11; 111) pivotally mounted about a fixed axis (12; 112) substantially perpendicular to the plane of the inner face (6; 106) of the window, the said support comprising a lower portion (14; 114) passing between the fired table (5; 105) and the inner face of the window, and also an upper portion (15; 115) connected thereto which is folded back against the fixed table (5; 105) at a short distance therefrom and on which the said pen member is mounted, and in that drive means (16, 17; 116, 117) are provided between the pivoting support (11; 111) of the pen means and the moving table (7; 107) in such a way that when the said moving table is lifted the said support pivots to release the pen member (10; 110) by which means a chart-bearing disc can then be placed on the fixed table (5; 105), the other chart-bearing disc having been placed on the said moving table after the latter had been folded back and the said pen member can automatically return into a position ready for writing.
2. Pen means according to claim 1, characterised in that the drive means (16, 17; 116, 117) provide a positive link between the moving table (7; 107) and the pen member support (11; 111) the said link acting in both the directions in which the said moving table pivots.
3. Pen means according to claim 2, characterised in that play is provided in the positive link in such a way that when the moving table (7; 107) is lifted from its folded back position, the support for the pen member (11,; 111) only begins to pivot after the said moving table has pivoted through a predetermined angle, in particular an angle of the order of some 10 degrees.
4. Pen means according to either of claims 2 or 3, characterised in that the drive means essentially comprise a first member (16; 116) which turns with the moving table (7; 107), and a second member (17; 117) which can slide in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the inside face (6; 106) of the window, the said second member being capable of acting through its rear extremity with the said first member and through its front extremity with the lower portion (14; 114) of the support for the pen member (11; 111).
5. Pen means according to claim 4, characterised in that the first member is a pinion (16; 116) which is coaxial with the axis of the moving table (7; 107) and the second member is an elongated slide (17; 117).
6. Pen means according to claim 5, characterised in that the elongated slide (17; 117) is located between the fixed table (5; 105) and the inner slide (6; 106) of the window.
7. Pen means according to claim 3 and any one of claims 5 and 6, characterised in that the forward end of the elongated slide (17; 117) has an end member (24; 124) which can act together with a projection (25; 125) on the pen support (11; 111), contact between the said end member and the said projection only occurring when the moving table has pivoted through a predetermined angle (7; 107).
8. Pen means according to one of claims 5 to 7, characterised in that the rear end of the elongated slide (17; 117) has holes (22; 122) by which it may be meshed with the drive pinion (16; 116).
9. Pen means according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that it also comprises a drive lever (19; 119) pivotally mounted about a fixed axis (20; 120) which is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the inner face (6; 106) of the window, the said lever being located between the fired table (5; 105) and the inner side (6; 106) of the window so as to act by means of its rear extremity projecting beyond the edge of the said fired table when the window (2; 102) is closed in association with a movement sensing member (18) of the recorder housing, and through its front extremity with the pen member support (11; 111).
10. Pen means according to claim 9, characterised in that elastic means (21; 121) are provided to return the pen support (11; 111) at all times towards a recording position, i.e. pressing against the drive lever (19; 119) when the moving table (7; 107) is folded back.
11. Pen means according to claim 6 and either of claims 9 or 10, characterised in that the elongated slide (17; 117) has two oblong holes (29, 28; 129, 128) through which the fired axes (20, 12; 120, 112) of the drive lever (19; 119) and the pen support (11; 111) pass.
12. Pen means according to claim 11, characterised in that the oblong holes (28, 29; 128, 129) make it possible to guide the elongated slide (17; 117) during lateral movement of the said slide in a direction substantially at right angles to the pivot axis of the moving table (7; 107).
13. Pen means according to claim 11, characterised in that the elongated slide (17; 117) is subjected at the rear part thereof to the action of an elastic bearing blade (37; 137) borne by the fired table (5; 105) in such a way as to ensure meshing between the said slide and the drive pinion (16; 116).
14. Pen means according to one of claims 9 to 13, characterised in that the pivoting of the drive lever (19; 119) is limited by a stop (33; 133) provided on the fixed table (5; 105).
15. Pen means according to one of claims 1 to 14, characterised in that the fired table (5) comprises at least one tab (40, 41) forming an upstand at the edge of the said fired table in the vicinity of the pen member (10), the said upstand being raised in such a way that the upper portion (15) of the pen support (11) and/or the pen member (10) is straddled when the said pen member is in the released position.
16. Pen means according to claim 15, characterised in that the tab (40) which is closest to the pivot axis (12) of the pen member support (11) has an upper edge which is inclined, e.g. by about 5°, to allow the chart-bearing disc laid on the fixed table (5) to be placed in position.
17. Pen means according to either of claims 15 or 16, characterised in that the moving table has peripheral notches (42, 43) which allow the tabs (40, 41) of the fixed table (5) to pass through when the moving table (7) is folded back, the said fired table then incorporating a projection (44) forming a stop for the said moving table in that position.
18. Pen means according to claim 17, characterised in that an enlarged notch (42) is provided to allow the upper part (15) of the pen member support (11) to pass through when the moving table (7) is folded back, the said moving table being then in direct contact with the pen member (10).
19. Pen means according to claim 18, characterised in that the pen member (10) has a central offset (48) substantially corresponding to the thickness of the upper portion (15) of the pen support (11) below which the said pen member is attached.
20. Pen means according to one of claims 1 to 19, characterised in that the pen member (10) is located between the chart-bearing disc in such a way that a record having the same angular reference as those obtained by the other writing member or members (3) which are mounted in the recorded housing in a known manner is obtained.
21. Pen means according to one of claims 1 to 20, characterised in that the moving table (7) has means in the vicinity of its hinge axis whereby a flat member (55) which can act together with an elastic blade (56) attached to the rear portion of the window (sic).
22. Pen means according to one of claims 1 to 21, characterised in that the fired table (5) and/or the moving table (7) substantially have the shape of a half-ring, wherein the central space allows the disc-bearing plate (4) of the window to pass.
23. Pen means according to one of claims 1 to 14, characterised in that it also comprises a moving arm (170) located between the fired table (105) and the inside face (106) of the window, the said moving arm having at least one tab (140, 141, 174) upstanding above the said fired table in the vicinity of the pen member (110), the said moving arm being capable of being moved by associated drive means between an engaged position in which the tab or tabs (140, 141, 174) are adjacent to the edge of the fired table (105) and a disengaged position in which the said tab or tabs are disengaged from the said fired table and protect the said pen means which when moving table (107) is lifted is automatically located beneath the return of the said tab or tabs thus making it easier to locate a chart-bearing disc on the said fired table.
24. Pen means according to claim 23, characterised in that the moving arm (170) is pivotally mounted about an axis (112) which is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the inner face (106) of the window.
25. Pen means according to claim 24, characterised in that the axis of the moving arm (170) is the fired axis (112) about which the pen support (111) pivots.
26. Pen means according to either of claims 24 or 25, characterised in that the moving arm (170) is substantially U-shaped, wherein one arm (171) is traversed by the pivot axis (112) of the said arm and wherein the other arm (172) slides beneath the fired table (105) when the said arm is moved so as to aid the guidance thereof.
27. Pen means according to one of claims 23 to 26, characterised in that elastic means (173) are provided to return the moving arm (170) towards its engaged position at all times.
28. Pen means according to one of claims 23 to 27, characterised in that the moving arm (170) has at least one protected tab (140, 141) below which the front portion (146) of the pen member (110) is housed when the moving table (107) is lifted, and an additional tab (178) below which the outer edge of the rear portion (145) of the said pen member passes at all times, providing supplementary guidance for the pen member for all angular positions of the pen support (111).
29. Pen means according to one of claims 23 to 28, characterised in that the drive means associated with the moving arm (170) is the pen member (110) itself, which directly moves the said moving arm when the moving table (107) is lifted.
30. Pen means according to one of claims 23 to 29, characterised in that it also comprises a locking member (176) whereby the moving table (107) can be held open when the moving arm (170) is in the withdrawn position and the pen member (110) has reached a disengaged position in which it is located beyond the intended perimeter of the chart-bearing disc.
31. Pen means according to claim 30, characterised in that the locking member (176) is located between the fired table (105) and the inside face (106) of the window.
32. Pen means according to either of claims 30 and 31, in which the drive means whereby the pen member is disengaged comprise a pinion (116) coaxial with the axis of the moving table and an elongated slide (117) which acts together with the said pinion and with the pen support (111), characterised in that the locking member (176) acts together with the elongated slide (117) in such a way that locking automatically takes place when the said slide reaches a position corresponding to a predetermined degree of opening of the movable table (107).
33. Pen means according to claim 32, characterised in that the locking member (176) is mounted so as to turn about an axis substantially parallel to the inside face (106) of the window and has a rear portion (180) which acts together with a later extension (183) of the elongated slide (117) and a forward portion (178) whose end lies opposite an associated recess (179) provided in the fired table (105).
34. Pen means according to claim 33, characterised in that elastic means (182) are provided to return the locking member (176) towards the position in which it engages the lateral extension (183) of the slide (117) at all times.
35. Pen means according to any one of claims 32 to 34, characterised in that additional elastic means are provided to tend to return the moving table (107) towards a lower position, such as a torsion spring (187) acting on the hinge of the moving table (107), in particular in cooperation with the pinion (116) coaxial with the axis of the said moving table.
