Claims (11)

  1. Locking device, particularly a flush lock, to be mounted in a wing of french doors or the like, intended for operating a linkage (5) mounted so that it can slide on the edge of the wing, the linkage bearing locking members comprising:
    a flat housing (2) to be mounted flush and containing a bolt (6);
    a follower (14) mounted so that it can rotate in the casing about a geometrical axis orthogonal to the mean plane of the casing, it being possible for this follower to be turned by a handle, particularly a lever handle (16), the follower (14) being equipped with a follower arm (17) for causing the linkage (5) to slide, the follower arm (17) being off-centred relative to the follower (14) so as to rotate about a point (B) further away from the linkage (5) than the centre of rotation (A) of the follower (14),
    a means (21) being provided for driving the off-centred follower arm (17) directly in rotation using the follower (14) with no intermediate parts, the means (21) for driving the follower arm comprising a finger (22) connected to the follower (14) and housed in a recess (24) of a hub (18) of the follower arm,
    characterized in that the finger (22) is situated radially outside the contour of the hub (18) of the follower arm, and the recess (24) is formed inside the external outline of the hub (18) so that the finger (22) drives the follower arm (17) for the appropriate direction of rotation by collaborating with a stop at the end of the recess (24), and moves freely within this recess (24) without driving the follower arm (17) for movement in the opposite direction of the lever handle that operates the bolt (6).
  2. Device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the sleeve (28) has a circular opening (32) constituting the bearing surface for guiding the follower (14), the axis of which opening passes through the centre of rotation of the follower, and an outer surface substantially comprising two half-cylinders of different diameters (29, 30) of common geometric axis passing through the offset centre of rotation (B) of the follower arm, the two half-cylinders meeting at two shoulders (31) oriented more or less radially.
  4. Device according to either of Claims 2 and 3, characterized in that the follower arm (17) comprises, at its hub (18), a more or less semicircular opening (25) of the same radius as the large cylindrical surface (29) of the sleeve (28), the ends of the opening (25) of the follower arm hub being connected by a curved crosspiece (26) defining an interior concave arc of smaller radius hugging the semi-cylindrical surface (30) of smallest radius of the sleeve (28).
  5. Device according to Claim 4, characterized in that a shoulder is formed at each end of the curved crosspiece (26) to come into abutment against a mating shoulder (31) of the sleeve (28).
  6. Device according to Claim 3, characterized in that the follower (14) has a circular cylindrical contour housed in the opening (32) of the sleeve (28), and a radial branch (23) which is offset in such a way as to straddle the crosspiece (26) of the follower hub so that the finger (22) can enter the recess (24).
  7. Device according to one of Claims 2 to 6, characterized in that the lock case is made of plastic and in that the sleeve (28) is moulded integrally with the lock case (3).
  8. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the centre of rotation (A) of the follower (14) and the centre of rotation (B) of the arm (17) lie on a straight line orthogonal to the linkage (5).
  9. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 8 comprising a bolt (39) for immobilizing the linkage (5), characterized in that it comprises an indexing means (42) secured to the casing (1) capable of collaborating with a mating means (40, 41) provided on the bolt.
  10. Device according to Claim 9, characterized in that the indexing means comprises a peg (42) secured to the casing, particularly moulded integrally with the plastic lock case (3), and in that the bolt (39) comprises a window (40) equipped with a central boss (41), in which window the peg (42) is engaged.
  11. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 10, characterized in that it comprises a linkage brake (43), particularly formed of a tab (44) moulded integrally with the plastic lock case, bearing against a boss (45) of the linkage (5).
