Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an improved apparatus for performing massage operations on all parts of the body.
Various massage techniques are used depending on the treatments to be performed. Generally speaking, it can be said that massage operations involve exerting constraints on the patient calling on pressure and / or displacement and / or pinching phenomena.
.To date, various types of equipment have been proposed to facilitate the work of the massager as is apparent in particular from Swiss patent CH-A-168279, from patent US-A-3,297,024. In general, it can be said that these devices make it possible to exert on the body an action of pressure, displacement, friction by vibration, aspiration.
Recently, in the French patent application No. 85 04245 (publication 2,579,100) and 85.17 026 (publication 2589726), the Applicant has proposed improved massage appliances that achieve a simple, effective, massages of the "palpate-roll" type allowing a continuous action to be exerted on the patient causing not only a localized pinching but also a progressive displacement of the pinched area so as to cause a "rolling" and this, while exerting pressure. In general, the devices described in these patent applications essentially consist of two rollers mounted on a housing along parallel axes, the periphery of the rollers tangent to the underside of the housing, one of the rollers being preferably driven positively in rotation, said housing being connected to means making it possible to create a depression above the rollers.
In order to ensure the pinching of the skin, these rollers are mounted on the casing so that they can be moved apart and brought closer to each other to ensure the pinching action on the fold of skin formed.
Such devices give very good results but however imply the presence of means making it possible to ensure sealing when the rollers are moving.
However, we have found, and this is what is the subject of the present invention, a simplified device which also makes it possible to carry out such massages, without having to spread or bring the treatment rollers together and therefore making it possible to eliminate any additional means ensuring sealing such as valves, tilting shutters.
Such a solution is particularly suitable for the production of devices of small dimensions, but it is obvious that this is not limiting.
- les deux rouleaux actifs sont montés à entraxe fixe entre deux parois parallèles prévues à la partie inférieure du boitier, ces deux parois définissant une chambre dont la hauteur est telle qu'elle correspond sensiblement au diamètre des rouleaux, de telle sorte que ces derniers viennent tangenter avec le fond de cette chambre, un léger jeu subsistant pour permettre leur rotation et, de préférence, débordent légèrement par rapport aux bords inférieurs desdites parois ;
In general, the invention therefore relates to an improvement made to massage devices comprising, mounted inside a box which can be actuated manually, two parallel rollers mounted free in rotation, said box being connected to means making it possible to create a depression above the rollers, and is characterized in that:
- the two active rollers are mounted at center distance fixed between two parallel walls provided at the lower part of the case, these two walls defining a chamber whose height is such that it corresponds substantially to the diameter of the rollers, so that the latter come to tangent with the bottom of this chamber, a slight play remaining to allow their rotation and, preferably, slightly protrude with respect to the lower edges of said walls;
- The vacuum exerted inside the housing is obtained by means of a conduit opening into the space between the rollers; said circular section duct is preferably flared at its outlet inside the chamber.
Avantageusement, en pratique :
- la distance entre les rouleaux est sensiblement égale au diamètre de ces derniers ;
- lesdits rouleaux sont montés de manière amovible à l'intérieur de la chambre, afin de permettre le nettoyage ;
.Advantageously, in practice:
- The distance between the rollers is substantially equal to the diameter of the latter;
- Said rollers are removably mounted inside the chamber, to allow cleaning;
- the housing unit carrying the rollers and handle enabling the device to be actuated is in one piece, the suction duct provided inside the handle comprising at its end a connection making it possible to join the device with any suction source such as, for example, the tip of a conventional vacuum cleaner, vacuum source provided in hospitals, etc.
- la figure 1 est une vue en élévation d'un appareil conforme à l'invention ;
- la figure 2 est une vue en coupe selon l'axe AA de la figure 1 montrant en détail la structure d'un appareil conforme à l'invention ;
The invention and the advantages which it brings will however be better understood thanks to the embodiment given below by way of indication but not limitation and which is illustrated by the appended diagrams in which:
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of an apparatus according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a sectional view along the axis AA of Figure 1 showing in detail the structure of an apparatus according to the invention;
- Figure 3 is a section along the axis BB of Figure 2 showing the manner in which the active rollers are mounted inside the treatment head.
Bien entendu, la poignée (2) pourrait être rapportée au boitier (1).If we refer to the attached diagrams, the massage device according to the invention is in the form of an assembly essentially consisting of a housing (or head) designated by the general reference (1) and on which the treatment rollers are mounted, this box (1) being extended by a handle (2). In the example illustrated, the housing (1) and the handle (2) form a one-piece assembly and are obtained for example by molding a plastic material. Of course, the handle (2) could be attached to the housing (1).
According to the invention, the rollers (3,4) are mounted at the base of the housing (1) inside a chamber (5) formed by two side walls (6,7), parallel, and this with a fixed center distance E, the spacing between the rollers (3,4) being able to be adapted as a function of the areas to be treated but being generally substantially equal to the diameter of said rollers. The mounting of the rollers (3,4) inside the chamber (5) is preferably carried out so that it can be easily assembled and disassembled in order to be able to clean the treatment head. The detail view (Figure 3) shows an embodiment of such a removable assembly. In such an embodiment, the roller (3) (similar mounting for the roller 4) is hollow and its mounting on the two walls (6,7) is carried out by means of axes (8,9) which come embed in spans (10,11) provided on the walls (6,7), these two axes (8,9) being subjected to the action of an internal spring (12). As a result, the roller (3) (or 4) can rotate freely inside the seats (10,11). When it is desired to remove the rollers, it suffices to push, for example by means of pliers, the two axes (8, 9) one against the other so as to compress the spring (12), which allows to release the whole. Another solution for mounting the rollers (3,4) between the two side walls (6,7) is simply to provide grooves on said side walls allowing the passage of the ends of the axes of the rollers, the maintenance being provided by means clips. Of course, any other equivalent mounting method could be envisaged.
The rollers (3,4) are mounted inside the chamber (5) so that their periphery comes to tangent with the internal face (13) of the chamber, a slight clearance (of the order of a few hundredths of millimeters) being however provided so that the rotation of the rollers (3,4) can be done freely. Furthermore, the two rollers (3,4) protrude slightly, of the order of a few tenths of a millimeter, relative to the lower edges (14,15) of the side walls (6,7) of the chamber (5).
In known manner, in the space between the two rollers (3,4), a conduit (16) opens, the end (19) of which can be connected to a suction source (not shown). This conduit (16) is preferably constituted by an insert (18) attached to the inside of the body (2) of the device. Preferably, this conduit (16) ends in a chamber (17), which can have a flared shape, and which extends over the entire space between the rollers.
The use of such a massage device is very simple, since it suffices to apply the underside of the treatment chamber so that, under the action of the suction produced inside the duct, the skin forms a fold between the rollers (3,4), the rolling of this fold being obtained by the manipulator which by moving the device, causes the rotation of the rollers (3,4).
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above but that it covers all the variants produced in the same spirit. Thus, it could be envisaged to associate with the device means making it possible to vary the value of the vacuum created between the rollers as a function of the treatments to be carried out.
