Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for the production of flowable suspensions with a defined consistency by adding pure liquid phase to a flowable raw suspension of unknown consistency.
Due to the high variability of the starting components in the ratio of liquid phase to solid content, a determination of this ratio during the manufacturing process is necessary in accordance with the practical manufacturing conditions.
- 2. Bestimmen des Istwertes des Feststoffanteiles
- 3. Nachdosieren des für den Sollwert erforderlichen Flüssigphasenanteiles
- 1. Homogenization of the raw suspension with a solids content above the target value of the finished suspension
- 2. Determine the actual value of the solids content
- 3. Dosing of the liquid phase fraction required for the setpoint
The determination of the actual value of the solids content outside the mixing container, whether viscosimetric or gravimetric or volumetric after separation of the liquid phase on the basis of samples, is the reason for the time interruption of the manufacturing process and thus expresses the main disadvantage of all known determination methods separated from the process.
A method is already known (US Pat. No. 4,436,429) with which a liquid phase regulation as sequence control takes place the instantaneous difference between the pressure present in the hydraulically operated agitator motor of the mixing container and a pressure that is predetermined according to the target consistency, so that the desired batch is continuously produced.
The load torque acting on the agitator can also be used as a measure for determining the given consistency, as described in the method according to US Pat. No. 3,195,866, via the current consumption of the mixer motor. The relationship between consistency and load torque results from the speed and geometry of the agitator, as well as the viscosity of the suspension. The setpoint consistency is set by continuously or gradually adding liquid phase until a pressure difference corresponding to the setpoint consistency or a corresponding value of the motor current is reached. The disadvantage of this method is besides in the relatively high computational and control-related expenditure also in the fact that for the adjustment of the target consistency in all processes an initially approximate and towards the end of the process complete homogenization of the raw suspension and also the finished suspension is required. However, only the correct consistency is necessary for suitability for use, while their homogeneity is irrelevant at the time of the determination and often also beyond, so that too much effort has to be expended for their production by these methods.
Further disadvantages of this method result from the fact that various disturbance variables, which can have a significant influence on the setting of the consistency, can only be detected or controlled with difficulty. Such influencing factors can be, for example:
Changes in the torque-motor current characteristic curve due to fluctuations in the mains voltage and due to the heating of the motor, occurrence of separation phenomena of the flow at the agitator, combined with vortex or cavity formation, which can cause significant deviations from the normal viscosity-load torque behavior. A reliable control of these influencing factors is only possible with considerable additional expenditure, such as stabilizing the mains voltage or the hydraulic pressure, oversizing the agitator motor or structurally favorable - mix-wise but unfavorable design of the agitator, because the vortex formation is undesirable for a viscosity measurement, but very desirable for the mixing process.
The invention has for its object to provide a method that allows flowable suspensions with a defined consistency by adding pure To produce liquid phase to flowable raw suspensions of unknown consistency without having to carry out a separate determination of the consistency of the raw suspensions. According to the invention the object is achieved in that a preselected defined amount of ΔVm raw suspension runs out of a container through a vertically arranged discharge pipe with defined dimensions into a collecting container underneath and that after expiry of one of the dimensions of the discharge pipe and the desired consistency of the Suspend to be produced, determinable time t₀, liquid phase with a constant, according to the pre-selected, defined amount of raw suspension, the dimensions of the discharge pipe and the given material-specific viscosity-consistency properties of the suspensions, fixed feed rate, as long as the raw suspension is fed into the collecting tank until the preselected defined amount ΔVm of raw suspension has run out of the container after the
It is thereby achieved that exactly the amount ΔV F of liquid phase which is required to produce the desired consistency is added to the previously defined amount ΔVm of raw suspension of unknown consistency.
A further homogenization of the suspension is not necessary for analytical purposes and also if the entire batch present in the collecting container is fed into the further processing process.
The inventive method enables a very simple arrangement, since a regulation of the
This ensures that the discharge speed of the raw suspension is maintained at its high initial value if the
In cases in which the total amount of suspension to be produced in one batch exceeds the capacity of the container many times, it is technologically advantageous to regulate the pressure above the inlet level of the outlet pipe and preferably to keep it constant. This ensures that the container can be emptied at an undiminished outlet speed, which leads to a considerable reduction in the cycle time.
A constant level of pressure can be achieved, for example, by providing one or more displacement bodies, the volume of which increases in accordance with the volume of the raw suspension that has flowed out, and the pressure level h₀ thus remains constant.
Another possibility is a closed gas pressure cushion above the raw suspension in the container, the pressure P D of which is increased during the run-out process in proportion to the pressure difference Δh between the original and respectively reached level, such that the sum of pressure P D and the the respective hydrostatic pressure of the raw suspension is constant.
In applications with very high demands on the accuracy of the consistency values to be achieved, a multi-stage application of the method can be expedient, each subsequent stage serving to control and correct the errors of the previous stage and a reduction in the error size from stage to stage.
A variant of the method according to the invention is characterized in that from a container of raw suspension under constant or approximately constant pressure at the upper inlet level of the outlet pipe through this vertically arranged outlet pipe with defined dimensions, in a collecting container underneath, in a preselected
It is thereby achieved that the amount of crude suspension of unknown consistency which runs out in the predetermined run-out
A further homogenization of the suspension is not for analytical purposes and beyond Required when the entire batch present in the collecting container is sent to the further processing process.

Fig. 2 wird der Flüssigphasenzulauf 4 geöffnet. Ein konstanter Flüssigphasenstrom tanα fließt während der Zeit Δt gleichzeitig mit der auslaufenden Rohsuspension in den Auffangbehälter 3.According to FIG. 1-3, a quantity Vm₀ of flowable raw suspension is given in a
If the previously selected defined amount ΔVm of raw suspension has run out of the
A shortening of the overall process with the same apparatus arrangement according to FIG. 1 and the aforementioned process sequence is achieved by reducing the ratio of ΔVm to Vm₀ less than or equal to the value 0.1 and a sequence of several work cycles T according to FIG. 4.
A variant of this principle of the process is described in Figures 5-8 are shown.
Hierzu ist ein geschlossener Behälter 1 erforderlich.5, 6 and 7, the duration of the phase-out cycle T A is shortened as follows. 5 and 6 into the raw suspension in the
According to Fig. 9-11, a

The method according to the invention is characterized above all by its low outlay in terms of apparatus and control technology.
It proves to be of great advantage that technological variables that are constantly present as measuring variables for the control processes make the use of special measuring technology superfluous. The necessary fluidity of the raw suspension does not mean that the very high effort required for continuous homogenization. The variability of the apparatus training enables a high degree of adaptability to the most varied technological requirements in the production and further processing of such suspensions.
