Abstract

Beim Stranggiessen von Metall wird durch Wärmeentzug innerhalb einer Kokille (2) eine Strangschale (24) gebildet, die sich entsprechend dem momentanen Kontakt zwischen Strangschale (24) und Kokillenwand (10, 12) weiter abkühlt. Durch Kontraktion der Strangschale (24) kann sich diese von der gekühlten Kokillenwand (10, 12) abheben. Unregelmässige Kühlung, Risse und/oder Durchbrü­ che innerhalb der Kokille oder kurz nach dem Kokillenaus­ tritt können die Folge sein. Um dies zu vermeiden, wird vorgeschlagen, während des Giessbetriebes den Querschnitt des Kokillenhohlraumes (15) im Badspiegelbereich (27) auf ein vorbestimmtes Strangsollmass einzustellen und zu halten. Im Bereich unterhalb des Badspiegels (27) sollen jedoch die Kokillenwände (5, 7) unter Anwendung eines blendenartigen Kokillenaufbaukonzeptes an den Stossfugen gegen Durchbrüche abgedichtet und gleichzeitig elastisch gegen die gebildete Strangschale (24) entsprechend der mo­ mentanen Stranggeometrie angestellt werden.
