  • This invention relates to an inserting machine for sheets, comprised of a cabinet wherein besides units for collecting, stretching and conveying the sheets, there is mainly provided a cylinder whereover each sheet is pulled by tongs moving along the lengthwise direction over said cylinder.
  • Such machines operate relatively slowly because the sheet hanging over said cylinder or roller still has to be brought to the accurate position thereof by one or two operators. It is meant thereby that care should be taken for the edge of that sheet hanging over said cylinder, to be brought in parallel relationship with the cylinder center line. Such operations slow down the machine throughput and it is then also an object of the invention to perform said required operations automatically.
  • said cylinder is comprised of a torsion tube, and means are provided to twist said torsion tube with motors acting on the tube ends, about the lengthwise axis thereof as a function of the sensed faulty position of the sheet edge relative to the lengthwise axis of said torsion tube.

  • Each motor 7 and 8 is controlled by two groups photocells 11 (two leftward ones and two rightward ones). After the sheet has covered leftward or rightward, a group of two photocells, the pertaining motor 7 or 8 rotates until said sheet portion does no more cover the pertaining photocells. When this is the case, it may be considered that the correcting has been made and the sheet is laid over the conveying belt 43 by the above described throwing rod 40.

Claims (4)

  1. Engageuse pour draps qui est constituée d'un bâti dans lequel, en dehors des moyens pour réceptionner, tendre et transporter des draps, il est essentiellement prévu un cylindre (1) sur lequel est tiré chaque drap (9) par des pinces (12, 13) se déplaçant longitudinalement le long dudit cylindre (1) caractérisée en Ce que le cylindre précité est constitué par une buse de torsion (1) et en ce que des moyens sont prévus pour exercer une torsion selon son axe !ongitudinal sur ladite buse de torsion grâce à des moteurs (7, 8) agissant sur les extrémités de celle-ci en fonction de la détection de la position fautive du bord d'un drap par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de ladite buse de torsion (1).
  2. Engageuse selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que la buse de Torsion précitée (1) est constituée par un fil torsadé recouvert d'un matériau souple.
  3. Engageuse selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que les moyens précités, sont constitués par un nombre de cellules photoélectriques (11) qui sont disposées sur une ligne horizontale à hauteur du positionnement idéal d'un bord d'un drap (9) pendant par dessus la buse de torsion précitée (1) chaque cellule (1) étant agencée pour émettre un signal lorsque le bord inférieur d'un drap est venu se placer à hauteur d'une des cellules photoélectrique (11), signal qui met à l'arrêt le moteur considéré (7 ou 8) et le remet en marche en sens inverse jusqu'à ce que le drap (9) soit venu se placer à nouveau au-dessus de la cellule photoélectrique considérée (11).
  4. Engageuse selon l'une des revendications l a 3, caractérisée en ce qu'au-dessus du bâti précité en aval de la pince précitée (12, 13), en considérant le sens de déplacement du drap par rapport à la buse de torsion (1), sont montées deux roues de correction (29, 30).
