Abstract

The suitcase with handle, especially for air travel, consists of two linked halves (11,12) one of which has wheels along its base. The wheels consist of a castor (21) in the shape of a handle. A side section (30) protrudes from one suitcase half (12) at a distance (i) from the topside (27) facing the bottom side (28) and parallel to it. The sides (26) widen out towards the base of the suitcase (10) by the width (a) of the side section. The side-section together with the sides and the base forms, with an outer side (31) a suitcase-compartment (33). Attachments detachably fix a document-case (50) which extends the suitcase to form a square.

Description

The invention relates to a suitcase or the like. Luggage container with a handle, in particular a flight case made of two hinged case shells - mainly made of light metal or correspondingly light material - one of which is provided with rolling elements on a bottom wall.

Such a case can be found, for example, in FR-OS 20 85 513; It is equipped with rollers or wheels on one edge to make it easier to transport, in addition with an optionally extendable handle or bracket, thanks to which the case can be moved like a trolley.

The disadvantage of such conventional suitcases for the traveler, especially on long trips, is that suits in particular have to be folded, shirts and the like are stacked in one of the half-shells.

Since suits can only be stored folded due to the previously used suitcase shapes and consequently almost always get out of shape, a replacement was created with so-called garment bags, in which the suits are accommodated like hanging in a closet. However, because of their flexible wall parts, garment bags of this type have also not been found to protect against creasing or the like of the items of clothing.

Every businessman takes a briefcase with them when traveling. A garment bag and briefcase are now part of the usual cabin luggage for passengers, who also carry a suitcase and often a foldable trolley in the luggage compartment. This already illuminates the cumbersome nature of luggage transport, on the one hand by the traveler himself and on the other hand by the transport company, for example the airline. For the latter, the increasing abundance of luggage, which sometimes only has to be stowed in a freight container for a short time, creates considerable problems.

In view of these circumstances, the inventor has set itself the goal of improving the case of the type described at the outset in such a way that it is easier to handle and its operational safety is increased. In addition, a well-organized transport of travel essentials should be possible and the application area of the case should be expanded.

To solve this problem, a wall profile protrudes from a case shell at a distance from its ridge wall opposite the base wall and parallel to it, and from this the side walls are extended to the bottom wall by the width of the wall profile, the latter with the side walls and the floor is supplemented by an outer wall to a trunk attached to the suitcase step-by-step and connecting elements for releasably fixing a briefcase or the like which complements the suitcase to form a cuboid, so that the flight suitcase only offers the previously usual form of a suitcase-like piece of luggage together with the briefcase. This unit consisting of step-shaped suitcases, in particular for holding items of clothing or the like. Briefcases, can be easily transported after the two parts of the suitcase have been folded together.

In order to improve the handling of this unit, the rolling elements are formed according to the invention by a roller, which in turn is designed as a carrying handle. This enables quick access, especially for stacked units. For this purpose, according to a further feature of the invention, the roller in its longitudinal center is provided with a reduced cross section, which forms the carrying handle. Protection is sought independently for this formation of the rolling body of suitcases.

It has proven to be particularly important to securely lock the two parts of the unit, namely the flight case on the one hand and the briefcase on the other hand, when they are joined together. This takes place according to the invention on the handle of the briefcase, to which a handle of the case is assigned, preferably in mirror image to the plane of separation between the parts of the unit; both handles are connected to each other by a swivel element - advantageously by a hold-up flap.

The flap itself can produce a lock between the handles or covers an optionally additionally arranged lock unit between the two parts of the case unit, so that this lock device is always removed from outside access when the flap is in the locked position.

It has also proven to be advantageous to link a carrying handle to the step edge formed by the grading of the flight case, which generally enables a position of equilibrium when carried. This handle can be placed on the briefcase and is therefore not an obstacle when stacking suitcases.

Further advantages, features and details of the invention result from the following description of a preferred exemplary embodiment and from the drawing; this shows in
  • Fig. 1: a side view of a flight case with attached briefcase;
  • Fig. 2: the rear view of the flight case;
  • 3 shows a part of the front view enlarged compared to FIGS. 1 and 2;
  • Fig. 4: an oblique view of an enlarged detail.

A flight case 10, for example with a height h of 600 mm and a width b of 420 mm, consists of two hard case shells 11, 12 of different designs hinged together along a hinge axis A.

One case shell 11 has two side walls 16, a ridge strip 17 and a bottom strip 18 on a front wall 14. At the case corners 20 formed by the latter, the front wall 14 and the side walls 16, the ends of an axle 22 or corresponding axle pins, which are inserted on the end face into the roller or roller 21, are supported in molded strips 9.

The latter is designed in the shape of a dumbbell; In the longitudinal center of the roller 21, a handle 8 is formed by reducing the diameter, the length f of which corresponds to approximately one third of the case width b. This handle 8 can be used especially when stacking the case 10 on a pallet, not shown.

The front wall 24 of the other case shell 12 is also surrounded by side walls 26, a ridge wall 27 and a bottom wall 28 provided with skid strips 19. The height n of the ridge wall 27 and the adjoining parts of the side walls 26 is little more than 100 mm. On the side walls 16, 26 of both case shells 11, 12 adjacent to one another in the open position of the case 10, hinges 13 are attached in the hinge axis A, and lock parts which cannot be seen on the other side walls 16, 26.

At a distance i of 420 mm from the ridge wall 27 and parallel to it, a wall profile 30 protrudes outwards from the front wall 24. By its width a of approximately 120 mm, the side walls 26 on the wall profile 30 are widened in steps and extend in this width q (a + n) to the floor 28 of the same height q. The latter is supplemented with the side walls 26 and the wall profile 30 by an outer wall 31 to form a separate trunk 33.

A briefcase 50 is inserted into the gradation described and can be detachably fixed in a manner not shown.

This briefcase 50 is designed with a dividing line 48 of two suitcase parts 58, 59 inclined towards the front wall 24 in the operating position shown so that the dividing line 48 ends at the case head wall 47 in the cross-sectional center thereof. There is a handle 70 in a recess 71. A handle 42 a can also be seen in the case 10 as a mirror image of this handle 70 - with the front wall 24 as a mirror surface. Both handles 42 a , 70 are to be connected by a hold-up flap 72 (FIG. 4) which is fixed at one end to a hinge joint 73 and is to be placed over these two handles when the cases 10, 50 are closed and joined together. As a result, these two suitcases 10, 50 are additionally connected to one another. At the same time, a lock element that locks the two cases 42 a , 10 and / or the handles 42 a , 70 and is not shown here for reasons of clarity is covered.

On the outer edge 74 of the wall profile 30 and the outer wall 31 of the case 10, a carrying handle is articulated at 75, which in the position shown is folded onto the top wall 80 of the briefcase 50 and thus partially overlaps it.
