Description

The present invention relates to a method for handling sheet-like and lot-forming material which are treated in a continuously operating machine, and to a device for carrying out this method.

There are machines, for example dyeing machines, which are intended for the continuous treatment of web-like material, such as, for example, fabric webs. When supplying such machines with the goods to be treated, the procedure is such that the beginning of the batch of goods to be treated soon is connected to the end of the batch of goods currently being processed in the machine. This connection must be made before the end of the treated web has passed the machine. Because it is extremely difficult to thread the batch of goods to be treated into the machine in a different way.

The connection of a further web to a preceding web, for example by sewing, takes a certain time during which the machine, for example the dyeing machine mentioned, has to be stopped. The dwell time of the product section located in the machine is therefore longer than in the remaining part of the treated web. The consequence of this is that this section of goods has other properties, e.g. a different color than the rest of the web. Such a section of goods must be viewed as a reject and treated accordingly, which means a loss in value. In addition, there is a loss in the performance of the machine, which must stand still during the connection process.

A device is already known which allows two consecutive batches of goods to be connected to one another while a section of one of these batches of goods is continuously treated in a machine. This device is disclosed in FR-A-1 579 314. It has two memories, one of these memories being connected upstream of the machine and the other memory being connected downstream of the machine. Each of the stores has two sets of deflecting rollers arranged one above the other, between which the material web can run in a zig-zag shape. The distance between the roller sets can be changed, which increases the capacity of the respective goods store change and adapt to the given situation in the treatment machine.

The formation of the memory in this known device is relatively complicated and it should be difficult to achieve long-term and trouble-free operation of this memory. To operate the machine, you also need two such memories.

This object is achieved according to the invention in the method of the type mentioned at the outset, as defined in the characterizing part of claim 1. The device according to the invention for carrying out this method is defined in the characterizing part of a further claim 5, which refers back to claim 1.

The device for handling web-like material has a frame 1 which contains H-shaped cheeks 2. Of these, only the front cheek can be seen in FIG. 1. The cheeks 2 are connected to one another with the aid of horizontal cross members 3. A first group of these cross members 3 is located at the level of the horizontal webs 21 of the H-shaped cheeks 2, these cross members 3 and the webs 21 together forming the bottom 11 of the frame 1. The cross members 3 of a second group extend between the upper ends of the standing parts 22 of the H-shaped cheeks 2. Such a frame 1 is assigned to a machine 4 in which the web 5 is treated. This machine 4 can be, for example, a dyeing machine which is designed and designed for the continuous treatment of the web 5.

In the example shown, the web 5 to be treated consists of two sections 51 and 52, which are connected to one another by a seam 10. The first product section 51 is the section of which a part 53 is already in the treatment machine 4. The second goods section 52, on the other hand, is the section of the web 5 which is to be treated in the near future. The respective goods section 51 or 52 forms first a wrap or. a roll 7. Such coils 7 can be transported with the help of carriages 6, which can also be referred to as docking carriages. Such carriages 6 with windings 7 are set up in the lower region 14 of the frame 1 in order to be able to treat the product sections or product batches 51 and 52 thus delivered in the machine 4.

The transport carriage 6 has a frame 16, on the underside of which swivel wheels 17 are attached, so that the carriage 6 can be moved in any direction. On the frame 16, a carrier 18 for at least one roll of goods or a roll of goods 7 is attached. This carrier 18 is substantially U-shaped and its main plane extends essentially vertically, the legs 19 of the carrier 18 being vertical. The lower web 23 of the carrier 18 is integrated in the carriage frame 16. The distance between the legs 19 of such a carrier 18 is somewhat larger than the length of the largest of the windings 7 in question. Consequently, the windings 7, when fitted on a shaft 24, can be rotatably mounted in fork-shaped upper end parts of the legs 19 . During operation of the device, the web 5 can be easily removed from the roll 7.

In the drawing, two transport carriages 6 are shown side by side, the web 5 from the left Transport trolley 6 is withdrawn. As soon as there is no more goods 5 on the carriage 6 shown on the left, the end of the section 51 being processed is connected to the starting section of that section 52 which is located on the transport carriage 6 shown on the right in the drawing. The corresponding parts of these two lots 51 and 52 are indicated in the drawing by dashed lines. The connection of the two product sections 51 and 52 is again advantageously carried out with the help of a seam 10. Now the left carriage 6 can be removed and replaced by another on which a batch of goods to be treated is located. The same applies if the carriage 6 shown on the right is empty.

The horizontal webs 21 of the cheeks 2 together with the cross members 3, which are at the same height as the webs 21, are arranged so high that the trolleys 6 loaded with the coils 7 can be stationed under this horizontal section 11 of the frame 1. The space 14 located under this floor 11 of the frame 1 can be referred to as the installation space for the trolleys 6. In the working position of the carriage 6, the shaft 24 on the transport carriage 6 runs practically parallel to the cross members 3 of the floor 11 mentioned. This enables the front edge of the following section of goods 52 to be connected to the rear edge of the preceding section of goods 51, which has already been treated in the machine 4 becomes.

The section 15 of the present device, which is located above the installation space 14 for the transport trolleys 6, is designed as a store for a part or section 12 of the sheet material 5. It takes a certain amount of time to connect the respectively following batch of goods 52 to the previous batch of goods 51, for example by means of the seam 10. So that the treatment machine 4 does not have to be stopped for this period of time, the named part or section 12 of the material web 5 is first accumulated in the store 15. During the connection of the said goods sections 51 and 52, this part 12 of the web 5 is treated in the machine 4, so that its operation does not have to be interrupted.

The capacity of the memory 15 must be selected taking into account the duration of the connecting process of the product sections 51 and 52 and taking into account the speed of the treatment of the web 5 in the machine 4. The rate of treatment can or must be regarded as given and constant. The capacity of the store 15 is to be selected at least so large that the period of time required for the treatment of the web part 12 located in the store 15 is greater than the period of time required for connecting the batch 52 to be treated to the previous batch 51 is needed. You can also express the other way around, namely that the time required to connect the next batch of goods 52 must be shorter than the time required for the machine 4 to process the stock of goods 12 from the store 15.

The accumulation of the aforementioned stock 12 on the web 5 in the store 15 takes place in that the speed V1 at which the web 5 is drawn off the roll 7 and delivered to the store 15 is at least temporarily greater than that speed V2 at which the web 5 is delivered to the treatment machine 4. This delivery speed V2 must be practically the same as the treatment speed of the machine 4. With such a difference in the speeds V1 and V2, the amount of the goods 5 fed into the store 15 is greater than the amount of the goods 53 removed from the store 15 and delivered to the machine 4, so that the said goods stock 12 is created in the store 15. It should be clear that by choosing the ratio between the two speeds V1 and V2, the speed of the formation of the supply 12 in the store 15 and the size thereof can be controlled.

The speed V1 of the drawing in of the material web 5 into the store 15 becomes after the connection of the next batch of goods 52 initially significantly increased, but only until the required material stock 12 is formed in the store 15. The retraction speed V1 is then reduced in such a way that it practically corresponds to the speed V2 at which the web 5 is removed from the store 15. The increase in the feed speed V1 can be 30% of the normal feed speed V1 or the delivery speed V2.

The store 15 comprises a series of guide rollers for the web 5, which are required in order to be able to guide the web 5 from the transport carriage 6 to the treatment machine 4 and to thereby form the desired stock 12 of the material 5 to be treated in the store 15. On the underside of the bottom 11 of the store 15 there is a feed roller 25, via which the material web 5 reaches the area of the store 15. This feed roller 25 is followed by a support roller 26 for the web 5, which is also attached to the underside of the bottom 11. In the upper area of the left standing part 22 of the cheeks 2, a first deflection roller 27 is attached, behind which the web 5 reaches an upward deflection roller 28. This is followed by a take-off device 30 for the web 5. This contains a driven roller 31, the surface of which is provided with a layer 32 made of a material which has a high coefficient of friction with respect to the material of the web 5. This layer 32 can be made of rubber, for example. The driven one Roller 31 is assigned a pressure roller 33 which is attached to swivel arms 34. The pressure of this roller 33 can be caused by a spring, by means of a pressure cylinder (not shown) or simply by the weight of the roller 33. This take-off device 30 exerts tension on the material web 5, so that it is drawn off from the winding 7 on the transport carriage 6.

Since the material of the web 5 can possibly adhere to the surface of the take-off roller 31, a tapping roller 35 immediately follows the take-off roller 31. The surface of this tapping roller 35 has edges, for example it can have a square cross-section. This roller 35 exerts a jerky action on the section of the web 5 emerging from the take-off device 30 and, as a result, it is released from the take-off roller 31 if it adheres to it. In the area between this detaching roller 35 and the bottom 11 of the store 15 there is an obliquely arranged separating plate 36, which is intended to prevent the section of the web 5 emerging from the take-off device 30 from coming into contact with the web section entering it. A housing 37, which extends along the upper section of the standing part 22, surrounds those of the device parts mentioned here, which are located above the base 11.

A transport device 40 is installed in the bottom 11 of the store 15, onto which the section 12 of the web 5 to be stored passes from the take-off device 30. This transport device 40 has a conveyor belt 41 which is guided over deflection rollers 42 and 43 and is supported by support rollers 44. The deflection roller 42 shown on the left is driven in such a way that the conveyor run of the conveyor belt 41, onto which the web 5 falls, moves from left to right in the direction of arrow V3. This deflecting roller 42 is driven either by a separate drive, which is coupled to the drive of the pull-off device 30, and is coupled to the drive of the pull-off device 30 via a gear (not shown). This is because a certain ratio must exist between the delivery speed V1 of the take-off device 30 and the conveying speed V3 of the belt 41 so that the supply 12 is formed in the storage area 15 of the present device or an at least minimal material supply is maintained.

At the end of the storage area 15, a hold-down roller 45 is fastened on the floor 11, followed by a deflection roller 46 at the upper end of the standing parts 22 of the cheeks 2 shown on the right. From here, the material web 5 arrives at a further exit roller 47 located below it, behind which the section 53 of the machine 4 treated Material web 5 or the lot 51 extends.

The conveyor speed V3 of the conveyor belt 41 is lower than the delivery speed of the take-off device 30, so that the amount of material 5 fed to the conveyor belt 41 from the take-off device 30 is greater than the amount of material which is conveyed through the conveyor belt 41 from the take-off device 30 during the same period of time is transported away. As a result of this difference, the material web 5 forms folds or loops 50 on the conveyor belt 41, specifically in the region of this belt 41 adjoining the take-off device 30. These folds 50 are transported by the belt 41 towards the exit part of the present device.

The capacity of the memory 15 is directly proportional to its length, i.e. practically to the length of the transport device 40, and it is indirectly proportional to the speed V3 of the conveyor belt 41 of the transport device 40.

An extension of the conveyor belt 41 could increase the capacity of the storage 15. There are limits, however, because the present facility would take up too much floor space. In order to keep the length of this device as small as possible with a large capacity of the storage 15, the speed V3 of the conveyor belt can be 41 can be reduced. The lower the speed V3 of the conveyor belt 41, the more folds 50 are formed in the area of the conveyor belt 41 adjacent to the take-off device 30. In such a case, however, the folds 50 lie in several layers and often irregularly one above the other, ie not as well arranged , as shown in Fig. 1.

During normal operation of the present device, i.e. without connecting a further batch of goods 52 to the batch of goods 51 being treated, the delivery speed V2 is practically the same as setting up the delivery speed V1 of the take-off device 30, the conveyor speed V3 of the belt 41 being set such that a desired amount of the material 5 is present in the memory 15 as a supply 12. Under these circumstances, the loops 50 removed at the end of the conveyor belt 41 as a result of the pull exerted by the machine 4 are replaced by the loops 50 delivered by the conveyor belt 41, new loops 50 being formed at the beginning of the belt 41 at the same speed and being transported to the right . In this way, an approximately constant amount of material 5 in the form of loops 50 is maintained on the conveyor belt 41 as a supply 12.

After the end section of the batch of goods 51 being treated has left the roll 7, it must be transferred to the Initial section of the next lot 52 are connected. In order to obtain the time required for this, the take-off device 30 and the conveyor belt 41 are stopped. The material 5, which is now treated in the machine 5, is removed from the end section of the conveyor belt 41, so that the loops 50 in the store 15 are broken down from right to left. This creates a sag in the material web 5 between the upper deflection roller 46 and the last loops 50 on the belt 41.

Since the loops 50 run relatively disordered, it can happen that the material web 5 is deflected in the area of its sag to the left or to the right from the center of the store 15. Then, however, the web 5 also shifts relative to the center of the exit rollers 46 and 47 and it does not, as desired, reach the center of the mouth of the machine. Such a deflection of the web 5 can significantly affect the way it is treated in the machine 4. In order to prevent this, the store 15 is provided with a device 55 which controls the removal of the folds 50 in such a way that the material web in the area of its sag remains constantly in the center of the device. This device 55 is shown in perspective in FIG. 2.

The control device 55 has a carriage 56 which is located between the section of the conveyor belt 41 which transports the loops 50 and the outlet section 45 to 47 of the present Facility is located. The control car 56 has two side walls 65, which are connected to one another by means of ties 66 of an L-shaped profile. These profile pieces 66, however, only extend between the rear lower corners and between the two upper corners of the side walls 65, so that the region of the front section 62, which is located between the front lower corners of the side walls 65, is free. The loops 50 can thus easily penetrate into the interior of the control car 56 in this area of the front section 62.

The control carriage 56 can be moved on the webs 21 of the store 15 by means of guide pieces 57. The webs 21 have a U-shaped cross section, the legs of such webs 21 being lying. The guide pieces 57, which are attached to the outside of the side walls 65 of the carriage 56 in the lower region thereof, are in engagement with the upper leg 64 of the webs 21.

That part of the web 5 which leaves the store 15 in the direction of the treatment machine 4 passes through the control carriage 56, for which purpose it is provided with rollers 58 and 59 for guiding the web 5. The first of the rollers 58 mentioned is located in the upper region of that section 62 of the control carriage 56 which faces the trigger device 30. The Web 5 passes over this roller 58. The second of the rollers 59 of the control car 56 is arranged in the lower region of the rear section 63 of the car 56 and the web 5 runs underneath. This delivery roller 59 lies approximately at the same height above the floor 11 of the store 15 as the hold-down roller 45. The two rollers 58 and 59 of the control carriage 56 are freely rotatable.

The dispensing roller 59 can be provided with a brake (not shown) of a type known per se which blocks the rotation of this roller 59 when the exit speed of the web 5 from the control carriage 56 becomes greater than the feed speed V2 of the web 5 into the treatment machine 4 If, for example, a heavy fabric 5 is treated in the machine 4, then the pull in the area of the control carriage 56 can be so great, due to the large weight of the fabric section hanging from the upper deflection roller 46, that the fabric only as a result of the weight of the fabric Section of fabric is pulled by the control car 56. This can be prevented by blocking the delivery roller 59, which can also be provided with a friction lining.

The control carriage 56 contains a drive device which serves to advance the carriage 56 along the webs 21 of the store 15. This drive device comprises a drive shaft 61, which is mounted in the side walls 65. The drive shaft 61 is located at such a height above the conveyor belt 41 that the folds 50 below it can easily get into the interior of the control car 56. The shaft 61 is driven by a motor 67, which is fastened to the side wall 65 shown on the right and is coupled to the shaft 61. A circuit arrangement 75 is assigned to this motor 67, which controls the mode of operation of the carriage 56.

In each of the two end regions of the drive shaft 61 there is a gear 68 with which a chain 69 is engaged. One of these chains 69 is thus located in the area of the respective web 21, the ends of these chains 69 being fastened to the end of the webs 21. On the inside of the respective side wall 65, deflection wheels 70 for the respective chain 69 are attached under the pinion 68, which are located approximately at the height of the webs 21. These gear wheels 70 deflect the chain parts arriving from the pinions 68 and extending approximately vertically into the plane of the storage base 11. When the shaft 61 rotates in one direction or the other, the control carriage 56 shifts in one direction or the other. The main advantage of such an arrangement is that no corners of the control carriage 56 can occur because the chains 69 stand still and the pinions 68 are attached to a common shaft 61 which is rigid.

Furthermore, the control carriage 56 is equipped with a device 60 for detecting the loops 50 on the conveyor belt 41. This detection device 60 is shown only schematically in FIG. 1. It is located in the lower region of the front section 62 of the carriage 56, where the loops 50 can penetrate into it, as has been described above. A radiation source 71, for example a light source, is attached to the inside of the side wall 65 shown on the right or rear and on the inside of the opposite, i.e. a radiation receiver 72 is arranged on the left side wall 65. Since the folds 50 can be conveyed into this front section 62 of the control car 56 by the belt 41, the first of these folds 50 interrupt the reception of the beam by the receiver 72, which is interpreted as the presence of the folds 50 inside the control car 56. This affects the drive of the control car 56 because the detection device 60 is connected to the control part thereof.

As has already been said, the main task of the control carriage 56 is to ensure that the web 5 in the exit area of the present device remains in the center of the storage area 15 during the removal of the folds 50. This is achieved by the control car 56 moves automatically along the storage area 15 in such a way that it is always located where the last of the loops 50 in the process of being broken down are.

If the receiver 72 is covered by the folds 50 which are located in the interior of the control car 56, this means for the evaluation circuits of the control electronics that the control car 56 is located in the area of the last folds 50 on the conveyor belt 41. The detection device 60 thus sends signals to the control circuits of the drive 61, which have the effect that the drive 61 is switched off and that the control carriage 56 is stationary. However, the machine 4 continuously picks up the material web 5 for treatment. This means that the material web 5 is pulled continuously over and through the rollers 58 and 59 of the control car 56. Here, the folds 50 in the control car 56 are broken down, so that after a certain time the light beam from the source 71 hits the receiver 72 again. This is evaluated by the control circuits in such a way that the control car 56 has to move to the left, ie towards the entry end of the memory 15. The drive shaft 61 is rotated in the corresponding direction in order to cause the carriage 56 to be displaced to the left via the chains 69. After the first folds 50 on the conveyor belt 41 have covered the receiver 72, the drive 61 is switched off and the control carriage 56 is at a standstill again. In this way the Control car 56 track the end of the decreasing stock 12 on the conveyor belt 41. The movement of the control carriage 56 occurs above all when a new batch 52 is connected to the batch 51 being processed and when the material 5 from the supply 12 is thus processed in the machine 4.

Another function of the drive 61 comes into play during the new formation of the supply 12. The electronic circuits of the drive 61 contain a circuit which can be set to a desired period of time. If the receiver 72 is covered by folds 50 for a period of time which exceeds the period of time set in the circuit mentioned, this is interpreted by the control circuits in such a way that the supply 12 of material 5 in the memory 15 is to be formed. The control car 56 is shifted towards the outlet part of the device after the specified time period until there are no more folds 50 in the control car 56, ie until the light beam hits the receiver 72 again. This can be repeated until the control car 56 reaches its end position in the outlet area of the device. Here is a limit switch 73, which switches off the circuit mentioned and the carriage 56 stands still. If necessary, the control carriage 56 can now move to the left because of the removal of the folds 50 inside, such as has been described above.

Since the control carriage 56 constantly tracks the end region of the folds 50 and since the web 5 passes through it, guided by the rollers 58 and 59, the material web 5 remains constantly in the middle of the storage region 15.

In order to be able to form a material supply 12 in the store 15, the conveying speed V1 of the take-off device 30 and thus also of the conveyor belt 41 must be higher than the supply speed V2 during the phase forming the supply 12, as has already been explained. This enables the web material 5 to be delivered to the treatment machine 4 continuously and nevertheless with the formation of an increasing supply 12 of material 5 in the store 15.

The accelerated delivery of the material web 5 into the store 15 continues until the control car 56 reaches its extreme right position. Then this means that the reservoir 15 is filled with material 5. The conveyor speed V1 of the take-off device 30 and thus also of the conveyor belt 41 is reduced and adjusted to the delivery speed V2 of the device. This state remains practically unchanged during the further treatment of this lot 51, until the moment when it is necessary, the beginning to connect another batch of goods 52 to this batch of goods 51. After the withdrawal device 30 and the conveyor belt 41 have been switched off, the function of the control carriage 56 is repeated, as described above.

From the above it should be apparent that the control carriage 56 endeavors to remain in the vicinity of the nearest folds 50 and to adapt the length of the storage area to the respective length of the material stock 12 present in the store 15, so that the web 5 during the removal of the folds 50 constantly remains in the middle area of the facility.
