Definitions

  • the present invention relates to signal masts which are intended to provide indications to the public for example in urban areas to indicate directions.
  • signal masts which comprise a vertical support column anchored in the ground and at least one rigid box which is arranged axially, that is to say which is placed symmetrically with respect to the axis of the support column in the thickness direction; each box consists of a rigid frame surrounding translucent side panels or not, possibly bearing inscriptions.
  • each signaling mast which can carry several indicator boxes at the place where it is to be installed; in particular, it is necessary to be able to have a signaling mast whose indicator boxes can be arranged at varying heights and orientations.
  • the signaling mast according to the invention is particularly remarkable in that it comprises an extension mast which is arranged telescopically in the support column, which is fixed to this support column at the upper end thereof. and on which the aforementioned indicator boxes are fixed.
  • an extendable mast telescopically arranged makes it possible to obtain a signaling mast, the total height of which can vary in large proportions. fixed to the extension mast at the desired height and they are advantageously separated by intermediate sleeves which surround the extension mast and whose outside diameter is advantageously substantially equal to that of the support column. We thus obtain a homogeneous whole which gives the impression of a united column supporting the caissons.
  • the extension mast is fixed in the upper end of the support column by means of two half-shells which are clamped on the extension mast and which are fixed in the support column by Morse taper shank.
  • the extension mast has longitudinal grooves and it is fixed in the upper end of the support column by means of hollow cylindrical seals housed in said grooves and subjected to longitudinal tightening.
  • each box is fixed to the extension mast by means of half-collars integral with the box and stirrups surrounding the extension mast.
  • these stirrups are constituted by a threaded rod whose central part is curved in a semicircle. Thanks to the use of a threaded rod, the stirrup is attached to the tube, which improves the fixing.
  • the frame can also include vertical spacers arranged between its lower part and its upper part; these spacers stiffen the frame.
  • said spacers comprise one or more cross-pieces, the ends of which come into contact with the side panels; this makes it possible to avoid movement and deformation of the side panels, in particular under the effect of the wind.
  • the electric power cable is guided in the extension mast to the end of the latter and then descends in the boxes passing between the intermediate sleeves and the extension mast. This makes it possible to simply supply the electrical power to the boxes without having to carry out additional operations such as drilling on the extension mast.
  • the signal mast according to the invention essentially consists of a support column 1 which is partially shown in Figure 1, and which is anchored in the ground by means of rods anchoring 2.
  • This support column is hollow and has inside an extension mast 3 which is mounted telescopically so as to produce a signaling mast whose height can vary in large proportions.
  • This extension mast 3 is fixed in the support column 1 to the upper end 4 of the latter and supports one or more indicator boxes 5 which are centered on the axis of the support column 1.
  • These boxes may have a general shape rectangular or the shape of an arrow and they have a rear part 6 of short length and a front part 5 which is the useful part and which is very strongly in cantilever with respect to the support column 1 and the mast- extension 3.
  • the free parts of the extension mast 3 are covered with intermediate sleeves 8 and the upper part of the mast is covered by a terminal cap 9.
  • the outside diameter of the intermediate sleeves 8 and of the terminal cap 9 is the same as that of the support column 1, so that the signaling mast according to the invention seems to consist of a single column passing through the boxes 5.
  • the box has a guy 12 whose one end is fixed on the extension mast 3 and l 'other end on the lower part of the box. This guy is used to adjust and maintain the shape of the front part 7 of the box 5, which is particularly advantageous for indicator boxes of great length.
  • the rigidity of the box is further improved by means of spacers 13 which will be described later.
  • FIG. 2 partially shows the support column 1 which has a base 14 which is fixed to the ground by means of anchor rods 2 which are themselves sealed in the ground.
  • two keys 15 which are used for fixing the extension mast as will be seen later and which are housed inside the upper part of the support column; these keys have at their upper end a horizontal tongue 16 which has a certain flexibility and which is used for centering a first intermediate sleeve 17 which is fitted onto these tongues and which can be followed by a second sleeve 18 which is fixed fitting on the upper part of the sleeve 17.
  • a base 19 which is fixed by fitting on the sleeve 18 and which has at its upper part lugs for its attachment to the frame of the box as will be described later.
  • FIG. 3 represents the extension mast 3 on which two half-shells 21 are fixed, which are tightened on the extension mast 3 at the desired height by means of bolts 22 and nuts 23.
  • Each half-shell has a groove central 24 whose bottom is slightly inclined so that the two grooves are deeper at the bottom of the half-shells than at the top. These two grooves cooperate with the keys 15 which are also inclined in the same direction so as to fix the extension mast 3 in the support column 1 by fitting with Morse taper. The detail of this fixing by Morse cone is visible in particular in Figures 4 and 5.
  • FIGS 6 and 7 illustrate another embodiment of the invention which is intended in particular for the production of signal masts of smaller dimensions; in this embodiment, the extension mast 25 has in section several grooves 26.3 in the example shown.
  • the extension tube 25 is fixed in the support column 1 by means of hollow cylindrical seals 27 which are housed in the notches 26 and which are subjected to longitudinal tightening by means of a through bolt 28 cooperating with a nut 29. As in the first embodiment, this fixing takes place at the upper part of the support column 1 and then intermediate sleeves 8 are threaded onto the extension mast 3.
  • Figure 8 shows in exploded perspective a box according to the invention. It essentially consists of a frame 31 in two parts comprising a front part 32 and a rear part 33 which is assembled on the front part.
  • This frame consists of a profile which is shown in section in Figure 9.
  • This profile has a flat base 34 which comprises along each of its edges two wings 35 and 36 which are perpendicular to said base and determine therewith a groove 37 in which is housed a side panel 38.
  • the outer wing 35 is disposed along the edge of the base 34 and the inner wing 36 has a wing 39 parallel to the base 34 and directed inward; this wing determines with the wing 35 and the base 34 a second groove 41 arranged perpendicular to the first groove 37 and into which are fastened the fastening parts which are described below.
  • each box is fixed on the extension mast 3 to the lower part of the frame and to the upper part of the latter by means of a bracket 42 which is secured to the box and which is clamped on the extension mast 3.
  • this stirrup 42 consists of a threaded rod which is curved in the middle in a semicircle and which is fixed on a clamping part 43 which has a circular profile 44 and which is fixed on the frame 31 by crimping, the front part 32 of the frame being thus clamped between these two parts.
  • a base 54 disposed outside the frame 31 is fixed to the clamping part 43, by bayonet mounting.
  • the stirrup 42 is tightened on the extension mast 3 by means of bolts 45 and there is obtained, therefore, a good attachment of the stirrup to the extension mast, the thread of the stirrup coming to hang in the extension mast.
  • the frame comprises vertical spacers 46 which serve to maintain the spacing of the lower and upper parts of the front part 32 of the frame.
  • these spacers can include horizontal braces 47 which, when the box is mounted, come into contact with the side panels 38 so as to maintain the flatness of the latter.
  • a guy consisting of a cable 48 which is fixed on the one hand to the upper clamping part. 43 and on the other hand on a fixing piece 49 which is constituted by a section of profile whose edges engage in the grooves 41 and have lateral notches which serve to block the fixing piece 49, the horizontal wing 39 comprising bosses which snap into said notches.
  • These fixing pieces 49 serve to support the spacers 46. They include a hole 51 intended for hooking the head 52 of the cable, the other end of which is clamped on the piece 43 so as to tension the cable.
  • the assembly of the box which has just been described is done in the following way: first of all the front part 32 of the frame is put on an extension mast 3 after having arranged the necessary intermediate sleeves 8 and the base 19 arranged below the box; the latter is fixed by bayonet mounting on the clamping pin 43. The fixing is then carried out by tightening the stirrups on the extension mast 3 so as to fix the box, in fact of its front part 6 on the mast- extension. Then the length of the stay 12 is adjusted, the side panels 38 are then threaded into the grooves 37 and the box is closed by sliding the rear part 33 of the frame onto the side panels and fixing this rear part on the front part 32. The upper base and the following intermediate sleeves can then be fixed.
  • Figure 11 shows the terminal cap 9 which is also fixed by fitting on the upper base of the last box.
