Description

The invention relates to a protective pocket case for documents of value, such as checks, banknotes, credit and bank cards, etc., constituted by a rectangular flat box of format related to that of the documents to be stored therein. enclose and allow it to be easily put in a pocket, with a cover and a security closure which can be opened exclusively by entering, by means of a keyboard, a secret code, as well as at least one cartridge or ampoule filled with a liquid under pressure making it possible to render the contents of the case unusable, comprising a sensor sensitive to burglary forces exerted on the case and controlling, upon detection of such efforts, the opening of the cartridge or bulb so that its content is projected onto the contents of the case to make it unusable.

Numerous security enclosures intended for the transport of valuable documents are already known. However, these are generally relatively large speakers and certainly not of a type allowing them to be placed in a pocket. They are mainly intended for transport between well defined places, for example bank branches.

However, pocket document cases are also known with means for destroying or rendering their content unusable. Such document cases are described by patents EP-A-0 190 778 and BE-A-901533. These cases according to these patents, however, do not yet offer total protection against certain burglary means and in particular the possibility of freezing or heating the case. In addition, they do not allow the use of magnetic and / or electronic cards such as credit and bank cards, usually made of a plastic coat that is difficult to attack, especially when they are stacked.

The present invention aims to offer a pocket case ensuring effective protection of its contents and in particular preventing any fraudulent use of credit or bank cards that it contains.

For this purpose, the case according to the invention is formed by a rigid frame enclosed between a bottom and a hinged cover, this bottom and this cover each being formed by a lamination of three thicknesses of which the two external thicknesses are made of a solid metal and enclose between them a flexible printed circuit carrying a network of electrical conductors connected together on each of its faces, the two networks being electrically isolated from each other and connected to the inputs of a sensor detecting quite simply -circuit between these networks and triggering during such a short circuit, the projection of the contents of the bulb.

The pocket case 1 according to the invention and illustrated in the figures is intended to protect valuable documents such as checks, banknotes and credit or bank cards, by making their use impossible after the theft of the 'case 1. In addition, this case must be able to be easily put in a pocket, in particular in the interior pocket of a jacket. It must therefore have reduced dimensions which hardly exceed the dimensions of the documents to be protected. This poses specific problems, very different from those encountered for larger containers intended for example for the transport of funds between bank branches. Thus, a pocket case must be flat and very robust, because it undergoes a significant crushing force when it is put in the pocket and this all the more since it will generally have a fairly elongated rectangular shape if it is intended to contain checks.

To solve these problems, the case according to the invention consists of a rectangular flat box with a cover 12 and a safety closure which can be opened exclusively by entering, by means of a keyboard 13, a secret code, as well as at least one ampoule or cartridge 4 filled under pressure with a liquid making the contents of the case unusable. As described so far, such a case is already known.

To take account of the particular conditions of use of the case according to the invention and especially of the fact that once stolen, it can be subjected to very diverse burglary attempts, such as freezing, heating or simply force brutal, the case includes sensors sensitive to various burglary forces and in particular sensors sensitive to temperature, pressure, humidity, magnetic fields and / or electromagnetic waves, which makes it possible to detect the existence of 'an abnormal environment around the case. If such an abnormal environment exists, at least one of these sensors will react and cause the opening of the bulb 4 so that the content thereof is projected onto the content of the case.

As shown in Figures 1 and 2, to achieve a small, solid and reliable case, while remaining light and easy to put in a pocket, this case 1 comprises a rectangular frame 10, preferably metallic, enclosed between a cover 12 and a bottom 11. On one or two of the short sides of the frame is provided a perforated box containing in particular the bulb 4 containing under pressure a liquid making the contents of the case unusable, for example indelible ink or a acid. The box can also contain all or part of the electronic system controlling, on the basis of the information received from the sensors, the opening of the bulb 4.

The bottom 11 and the cover 12 of the case are each designed as a layer of three thicknesses, as shown in section in FIG. 3, the two external thicknesses 13 and 14 of which are made of a solid metal and enclose between them a flexible printed circuit 15. The two metal sheets 13 and 14 are crimped mutually on their edges and are slightly curved towards the outside so as to constitute a very robust and waterproof shell.

The flexible printed circuit 15 carries on its two faces, a network of printed electrical conductors, these two networks being electrically isolated from each other and being connected to the inputs of a sensor. Thus, in the event of an attempted break-in by piercing one of the faces of the case or while trying to crush it, a short circuit will occur between the two networks of conductors and the corresponding sensor will trigger the opening of the bulb 4 .

A particularly serious problem is posed by the increasingly frequent use of magnetic and / or electronic memory cards like bank or credit cards, since their theft can have very serious consequences. financial during the fraudulent use of such cards. It is therefore of the utmost importance to make them unsuitable for normal use. One can consider projecting ink onto the card, but this will not, for example, prevent its use with an automatic banknote dispenser. On the contrary, it is necessary to make illegible all or part of the information encoded in magnetic or electronic form that it carries. We can then consider the use of an acid, but to be certain that it reaches the surfaces of several cards contained in the case, these cards cannot be filled one on top of the other, because this risks prevent the penetration of the destructive liquid. We have therefore designed, according to a characteristic of the invention, a support block 18 having on one of its faces, slots 19 slightly offset between them in the longitudinal direction and spaced in height so that cards 20 threaded in these slots 19 will be kept offset and slightly spaced apart. This also provides the advantage of easy handling of the cards by their owner.

One can also consider magnetic or electronic means generating a parasitic field in the event of break-in, so as to erase or at least disturb the recording contained in the memories of the cards 20. The use of the support 18, now the cards 20 in well-determined positions inside the case 1, will facilitate the action of such stray fields.

Finally, the external metallic parts 13 of the case 1 can be connected to each other and to the ground of the detection system, so as to constitute a Faraday cage protecting the electronic system of the case against external influences, either desired, either accidental.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, one or two metal sheets 13, 14 can be obtained by metallization of a support, in particular the printed circuit 15. The conductors printed on the face to be metallized of this circuit are obviously in this case, previously covered with an appropriate insulating layer.

A thief could consider quickly cutting, before the detector system reacts, the part of the case forming a box containing the bulb 4. It can be envisaged to guard against such a possibility, to arrange mechanical means, such that claws (not shown), connected to the outer casing (13) of the case, beyond the aforementioned box, which will be displaced during the deformation of this envelope due to the aforementioned cutting, so as to cause the bulb opening 4.

The cover 12 constituting with its joints, the weakest and most difficult to protect part of the case, one can envisage an embodiment in which the body of the case constitutes a closed box including a small side, possibly in connection with part of the long side (s) which are adjacent to it, can be opened by sliding and / or pivoting.
