Abstract

A top for ventilated multi-layered chimneys which possess, in their longitudinal direction, at least one flue-gas pipe (22) and at least one ventilation duct (10). In this arrangement, an upper cover plate (16) for the chimney is provided, which has at least one opening (20), through which a flue-gas pipe (22) projects upwards and which, outside the flue-gas pipe (22), forms at least one passage opening (28) for the ventilation gas, which is provided with an upper covering. The invention provides two solutions to the object of protecting the passage opening (28) in the cover plate (16) against rain and dirt. In these two solutions, the covering possesses an outlet housing (30) for the ventilation air, which is fixedly connected to the cover plate (16). In the first solution, the outlet housing forms an expansion joint (24) with respect to the flue-gas pipe (22). The other solution is based on the fact that the flue-gas pipe (22) is an extension piece, projecting through the cover plate (16), of a flue-gas duct (2) which ends below the cover plate and into which the extension piece is inserted. In this case, provision is made for the extension piece, for its part, to form an expansion joint with the flue-gas duct and to be held against sliding into the flue-gas duct by fastening to or supporting on the cover housing. <IMAGE>
