Abstract

A projectile cartridge for shooting irritant gas, smoke or smoke bodies is shown. The cartridge exhibits in its interior at least one solid body, the active substance of which generates the irritant or the like after being ignited. The solid body (or several solid bodies) is exclusively fabricated of the active substance. During the burning- down, the solid body becomes hot, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, its strength is reduced by such an amount that it crumbles apart when touched. In this manner, the solid body cannot be thrown back to the firing base. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a cartridge or projectile for generating or releasing fog, smoke or an irritant.

Such cartridges or projectiles can either be thrown by hand or fired using a large-caliber multi-purpose pistol, depending on the training. Such cartridges or projectiles then release fog, smoke or an irritant at the place of use.

Festkörper in ihrem Inneren bergen. From DE-PS 1 933 029 a throwing body is known, which can also optionally be designed and shot as a cartridge. The inside of this cartridge or throwing body has a solid consisting of several pieces, the active substance of which releases an irritant (e.g. tear gas) after ignition. The solid body remains in its casing after ignition, that is to say at the place of use, the irritant exits through openings in the casing. Furthermore, it is known to use individual, solid “sub-bodies” instead of a single solid body with a covering, but these also develop the irritant. Recover solids inside. In both cases, it is now possible to throw the activated projectile or the sub-body back to the launching base and thus cancel or even reverse the effect of the object.

Based on this state of the art . Invention based on the object of developing a cartridge or a throwing body of the type mentioned in such a way that throwing back to the launch base is no longer possible.

This object is achieved in that the solid or solids consists or consist exclusively of the active ingredient. With such a training it is achieved that there is at least one psychological inhibition threshold for touching the smoldering, smoking objects and throwing them back.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the solid (or the solid) is constructed in such a way that at least the outer surface reaches a temperature prohibiting contact when it burns. In order to also prevent touching and throwing back with the aid of a glove, in a further preferred embodiment of the invention the solid is made from an active substance which, at least after lighting or burning off, has such a low strength that it disintegrates when touched. This makes throwing back completely impossible.

The solid is preferably made from a pyrotechnic compound mixed with a smoldering bed, which is tumbled with an ignition mixture, so that this is essentially only present on the outer surface of the solid (or the plurality of solids).

Particularly preferred is an embodiment of the invention that a projectile body shell (either a litter body or a cartridge which can be fired from a large-caliber pistol), in which there are a large number of solid bodies in loosely poured or stacked form, the shell body shell being closed by a floor. Advantageously, the floor of the floor can be designed as a sabot at the same time.

Further features essential to the invention result from the description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, which is explained with an illustration.

As shown in the attached figure, in the embodiment of the invention explained above as a cartridge, the subject matter of the invention consists of a projectile body shell 2, in which a large number of solid bodies or sub-bodies 1 with a cylindrical (or spherical) shape is contained. The solids 1 are produced from a corresponding pyrotechnic set by tabletation or extrusion and consist exclusively of these sets, which are mixed with a smoldering bed and are only drummed with an ignition mixture. The sub-bodies 1 can be labored in bulk (as shown) or in an ordered stack in the projectile body shell 2.

After filling, the projectile body shell 2 is provided with a floor 3, which at the same time forms a sabot. According to the attached embodiment of the invention, a pyrotechnic delay 4 is attached in the center of the sabot. The floor is patronized in a known manner and, if necessary, in one Shot above the target area, where the sub-body 1 is ignited and the sub-body or solid body 1 is ejected from the projectile body shell 2 only after the pyrotechnic delay has elapsed. The gas pressure of the tumbled ignition mixture on the solid bodies 1 causes a separation from the shell body shell 2 and the floor floor 3. The solid bodies 1 glow to the ground and thereby develop the desired cloud of irritants, fog or smoke. During the descaling process, the smoldering bed develops so much heat that the solid body 1 cannot be handled with unprotected hands. In addition, the smoldering sub-bodies have such a low strength that they disintegrate when they are touched with the hands. Due to this nature, it is not possible to pick up solid body 1 and to transport it back to the launch site.

The cartridge case with ignition and propellant charge is marked with the number 5 in the attached figure.
