Description

The present invention relates to a bridge for an electric orthopedic chair, in particular for facilitating access to vehicles, as described in the first part of claim 1.

It also relates to a ramp for an orthopedic chair to allow the ascent or descent of stairs as described in the first part of claim 10.

A bridge of the above type is known from US-A 4,528,711. However, it has the disadvantage of being quite bulky in its folded position and of not being able to be easily operated by the driver of the wheelchair.

Patent US-A 4,539,781 describes, for its part, a ramp which makes it possible to climb stairs to an orthopedic chair.

The existing bridges for loading orthopedic chairs are either rigid, sliding underneath, or retractable at the rear for vehicle trailers or for large vehicles. As for those intended for automobiles, they comprise a particularly expensive jack system, due to the use of the motive force, electric or compression, of the carrier vehicle.

The object of the present invention is to remedy to these disadvantages. The invention as characterized in the claims solves the problems associated with the use of private vehicles fitted with non-removable jacks or ramps, by proposing a device made of light parts, all of which are foldable and retractable, which may be contained in a body with handle transformable into a trailer towable by the electric wheelchair.

These problems are solved by the subject of claims 1 and 10, the dependent claims relating to advantageous embodiments of the invention.

The advantages inherent in the present invention lie essentially in that it makes it possible to load an orthopedic wheelchair, under satisfactory safety conditions, in station wagon vehicles, using the chair's own traction energy, as well as move it on stairs, without accompanying aids.

  • la figure 1 représente une vue en perspective d'un rail du pont selon l'invention ;
  • la figure 2 représente une vue en coupe transversale du même pont au niveau d'une entretoise ;
  • la figure 3 représente une vue latérale d'une rampe d'escalier selon l'invention ;
The invention is set out below in detail in support of the appended drawing, in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of a rail of the bridge according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the same bridge at a spacer;
  • Figure 3 shows a side view of a stair rail according to the invention;
  • Figure 4 shows a cross-sectional view of the clamping device of an element of the stair railing.

The loading bridge shown in Figures 1 and 2 has the advantage of being light, non-deformable in bad weather and easy to handle.

If we refer to Figure 1, we see that each rail consists of four elements of U-shaped sections of decreasing width, nestable in the folded position. The first element 38, the widest, of these rails comprises at its end hooks 39 rounded at 90 °, intended to serve as points lashing to the vehicle. The next element 40 fits into the element 38, the assembly being maintained by a retaining tab 41 fixed to the underside of the element 40.

The rail 40 is provided at its lower face and in its center with a bore 42 for the passage of a stud 43 secured to a spacer 44 which joins the rails 40 arranged in parallel, three-quarters of their length. The following rails 45 and 46 are nested according to the same process as the previous two. For reasons of risk of deflection, of declivity of the road or of the vehicle, the rails 38 - 40 - 45 - 46 must be deployed in pieces of 2, 3 or 4 elements never exceeding 2 meters.

Referring to Figure 2, we see that the spacer 44 consists of an inverted U angle 47 in which are screwed studs 43 for receiving the rails 40 at intervals calculated according to the spacing dimensions wheels of the orthopedic chair.

This angle iron 47 is intended to receive at its center, articulated by pins 48, telescopic legs 49 formed of interlocking tubes 50 and 51 locked by butterfly screws 52. The rails 40, as well as the rails 38, 45 and 46 are drilled at each end piece and at their ends to receive in the mounting position flat rivets with flanges 53 in which clips 54 are enclosed, so as to ensure the rigidity of the assembly.

If we refer to Figure 3, we see that the ramp according to the invention consists of plates 59 of adjustable length and brackets 57 of L-shaped section whose internal faces are adapted to bear on the face upper and the step of the steps of a staircase. On each bracket are mounted two plate supports 55 intended to each receive a plate 59. Each support 55 is constituted by two U-shaped profiles 56 connected to each other by a spacer 561 so that the opening of the U constitutes two parallel grooves distant from the width of the plates 59. These sections in U 56 comprise fixing screws 562 of the plates 59, and they are assembled two by two by means of an axis 563 secured to the top of the bracket 57 and allowing the pivoting of one relative to the other, the axis 563 merging with the top of the bracket 57.

A height rod 571 is mounted in rotation on one of the arms of the bracket 57, for example using a pin. This height rod 571 is intended to come to bear in abutment on the plate 59, for example in a notch provided for this purpose in said plate. The plates 59 may be provided at their lower face with foam pads 591 intended to come to bear on the edge of the steps of the staircase. The primer plate can be fitted with a rubber stud 592 known per se. Preferably, the length of the plates 59 is adjustable between 46 cm and 70 cm to cover, with the plate supports 55, 2 to 3 steps of average height.

Si on se réfère à la figure 4, on voit que le dispositif de serrage et d'assemblage des éléments de la rampe d'escalier comporte les profilés en U 56 en position latérale, soudés entre eux sur l'entretoise 561 sur laquelle coulissent les plaques 59, les profilés en U 56 étant munis de leurs vis de fixation 562.Referring to FIG. 4, it can be seen that the device for clamping and assembling the elements of the stair railing comprises the U-shaped profiles 56 in the lateral position, welded together on the spacer 561 on which the plates 59, the U-shaped profiles 56 being provided with their fixing screws 562.
