Description

The invention relates to a folder with a fold group for the second fold (first transverse fold) and at least one fold group for the third fold (second longitudinal fold) and transport devices for feeding the printed copies cut from a print carrier web.

It is often desirable to enclose different types of cross-folded products, for example for women's and men's fashion, loosely one inside the other as a supplement to a newspaper. Previously, in this case, the different copies had to be created in two different fold groups and put together in postprocessing and inserted into the newspaper. This naturally requires a high level of machine and time.

The object of the invention is to provide a device with which printed copies of different types, which are preferably already folded at least once, are further processed so that the two printed copies are optionally available folded into one another so that they can be inserted in a magazine or magazine insert process can be added to another printed product, which is compact and which can be converted to normal production without a significant changeover time. This object is achieved by applying the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. Further developments result from the subclaims and from the description in connection with the drawing. 1 schematically shows the folder according to the invention and in FIGS. 2 to 4 fold products.

The folding apparatus shown comprises a folding group 1 which, in one operating mode, a non-longitudinally cut print carrier web 3 and in two further operating modes a partial web 1a produced by the indicated longitudinal cutting device can be fed via a funnel inlet roller pair 4, a pair of pull roller 5, a cross perforation cylinder pair 6 and a further pair of pull roller 7. The partial web 1a or the non-longitudinally cut print carrier web 3 is fed by means of a cutting knife cylinder 9, a folding knife cylinder 8 with the desired print copy length. The printed copies A1 are needled onto the folding knife cylinder 8 at the front edge, for which purpose punctures 8 'are provided and are pushed into corresponding folding jaws 10' of the adjacent folding jaw cylinder 10 'with the aid of folding knives 8'. Cutting knife cylinder 9, folding knife cylinder 8 and folding jaw cylinder 10 thus constitute the first Fold group 1, with which the so-called second fold, that is, the first transverse fold, is produced. The print copies A1, which have been folded at least once, are transferred to a ribbon line 12, 13 behind the folding jaw cylinder 10. In one operating mode, the cross-folded print copies arrive in a straight version at a third Fold 14, the so-called second longitudinal fold, which, as is known, consists of a pair of folding rollers and a folding knife which can be inserted between them.

Due to the folding blade cylinder 11 with grippers 11 'placed on the folding jaw cylinder 10, a second transverse fold can also be produced in the first folding group 1 on the printed copies A1, if this is desired. According to the invention, a further operating mode is made possible by the folding knife cylinder 11, in which the folded printed copies A1 are lifted off the folding jaw cylinder 10 and guided into a ribbon line 24, 25. They then arrive at the second folding group 15, which can be constructed approximately identically to the first folding group 1 and in which the partial web 1b can be cut and folded in one mode of operation. The partial web 1 is fed to the second folding group 15 via guide and regulating rollers 16, a pair of pull rollers 17. This comprises a cutting knife cylinder 18, a folding knife cylinder 19 with punctures 19 'and folding knife 19 "and a folding jaw cylinder 20 with folding jaws 20'. The construction according to the invention thus advantageously provides the possibility of cross-folded folding products A1 via the ribbon cables 24, 25, which are guided over deflecting roller 26 in one operating mode to feed the folding jaw cylinder 20, in whose folding jaws 20 'the cross-folded printed copies A2 produced by the partial web 1b are guided Print copies A1, A2 are partially guided around the folding jaw cylinder 20 and then both reach the upper longitudinal fold 23 via the ribbon line 21, 22, which folds the print copies A1, A2 into one another as shown in Fig. 2. Thus, print copies A1, A2 of different types can be easily 2 ineina nder couches are produced that can be enclosed together with a product, for example a newspaper.

In another mode of operation, the partial webs 1a and 1b are cut and folded separately in the folding groups 1, 15 and each processed in the associated longitudinal fold 14, 23 into the product according to FIG. 3.

In an advantageous manner, it is also possible to put the slitting device indicated in the drawing according to FIG. 1 out of operation and to feed the uncut web only to the lower folding group 1. From this, the cross-folded, not longitudinally cut, printed copies can alternately either via the gripper and folding knife cylinder 11, the ribbon line 24, 25, the folding jaw cylinder 20, the ribbon lines 21, 22, the upper longitudinal fold 23 or from the folding jaw cylinder 10, via the ribbon lines 12, 13 the lower longitudinal fold 14 are fed. Products according to FIG. 4 can thus be produced. This splitting can significantly increase the speed of the folder. In this mode of operation, the folding jaw cylinder 20 of the upper folding group 15 is also partially integrated into the transport path.

The folder of the invention is compact. Only short changeover times between the three possible production types for producing the folded products according to FIGS. 2 to 4 are required. The merging of the printed copies A1, A2 is possible with great accuracy on the folding jaw cylinder 20, it being possible for this to be rotated in the circumferential direction in order to be superimposed on the leading edges. During this process, the printed copy A2 is still held in the jaws 20 '. If necessary, a continuous line from the gripper and folding knife cylinder 11 to the upper longitudinal fold 23 can also be used instead of the lower lines 25 or 22, which line then has to be partially guided around the folding jaw cylinder 20.
