Abstract

To collect different print copies (A1, A2) together, i.e. H. In one process, for example, to be able to insert it into a newspaper as an insert, the different printed copies are first created in different fold groups (8, 9, 10; 18, 19, 20) with the second fold (first transverse fold in each case). 24, 25) copies of one type are guided to the cylinder (20) of the other folding group and are superimposed there precisely on the leading edges. Then the printed copies can be provided with a second longitudinal fold. The printed copies of different types are preferably separated by a longitudinal cutting device on the former (4) and fed as partial webs (1a, 1b) to the two parallel folding groups for the second fold (first transverse fold). In another mode of operation, the individual printed copies are split up in such a way that they can be fed to two third folding devices (14, 23), so that double delivery is possible. Finally, a double delivery is possible with the print carrier web not cut, whereby after the generation of the second fold (first transverse fold) the printed copies are alternately fed to the two third folding devices.

Description

The invention relates to a folder with a fold group for the second fold (first transverse fold) and at least one fold group for the third fold and transport devices for feeding the printed copies cut from a print carrier web.

It is often desirable to enclose different types of cross-folded products, for example for women's and men's fashion, loosely one inside the other as a supplement to a newspaper. Previously, in this case, the different copies had to be created in two different fold groups and put together in postprocessing and inserted into the newspaper. This naturally requires a high level of machine and time.

The object of the invention is to further process printed copies of different types, which are preferably already folded at least once, in such a way that the two printed copies are optionally available folded into one another so that they can be added to a magazine or other printed product in a loading process in a compact manner builds and which can be converted to normal production without a significant changeover time. This object is achieved by applying the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. Further developments result from the subclaims and from the description in connection with the drawing. 1 schematically shows the folder according to the invention and in FIGS. 2 to 4 fold products.

The folding apparatus shown comprises a folding group 1 which, in one operating mode, has a print carrier web 3 which is not cut longitudinally and in two further operating modes a partial web 1a produced by the indicated longitudinal cutting device Funnel inlet roller pair 4, a pair of pull rollers 5, a pair of transverse perforation cylinders 6 and a further pair of pull rollers 7 can be fed. The partial web 1a or the non-longitudinally cut print carrier web 3 is fed by means of a cutting knife cylinder 9, a folding knife cylinder 8 with the desired print copy length. The printed copies A1 are needled onto the folding knife cylinder 8 at the front edge, for which purpose punctures 8ʹ are provided and are pushed into corresponding folding jaws 10ʹ of the adjacent folding jaw cylinder 10 with the aid of folding knives 8ʹʹ. Cutting knife cylinder 9, folding knife cylinder 8 and folding jaw cylinder 10 thus represent the first folding group 1 with which the so-called second fold, that is the first transverse fold, is produced. Behind the folding jaw cylinder 10, the at least once cross-folded printed copies A1 are transferred to a ribbon line 12, 13. In one mode of operation, the cross-folded printed copies arrive in a straight version at a third fold 14, the so-called second longitudinal fold, which is known to consist of a pair of folding rollers and a folding knife arranged between them and which can be pushed in between them. It goes without saying that the third fold may also be designed as a transverse fold instead of the longitudinal fold.

Due to the folding knife cylinder 11 with grippers 11ʹ placed on the folding jaw cylinder 10, a second transverse fold can also be produced in the first folding group 1 on the printed copies A1, if this is desired. According to the invention, a further operating mode is made possible via the folding knife cylinder 11, in which the folded printed copies A1 are lifted off the folding jaw cylinder 10 and guided into a ribbon line 24, 25. They then arrive at the second folding group 15, which can be constructed approximately identically to the first folding group 1 and in which the partial web 1b can be cut and folded in one mode of operation. The partial web 1b is fed to the second folding group 15 via guide and regulating rollers 16, a pair of pull rollers 17. This comprises a cutting knife cylinder 18, a folding knife cylinder 19th with punctures 19ʹ and folding knife 19ʹʹ and a jaw cylinder 20 with jaws 20ʹ. With the construction according to the invention, there is thus advantageously the possibility of supplying the cross-folded folding products A1 via the ribbon lines 24, 25, which are guided over the deflection roller 26, to the folding jaw cylinder 20 in one operating mode, in whose folding jaws 20ʹ the cross-folds produced by the partial web 1b are fed Print copies A2 are kept. According to the invention, the printing copies A1 and A2 are brought together on the leading edge of the folding jaw cylinder 20. The combined printing copies A1, A2 are then partially guided around the folding jaw cylinder 20 and then both reach the upper longitudinal fold 23 via the ribbon line 21, 22, which holds the print copies A1, A2 2 folds into each other. Thus, printed copies A1, A2 of different types, which lie inside one another according to FIG. 2, can be produced in a simple manner, which can be enclosed together with a product, for example a newspaper.

In another mode of operation, the partial webs 1a and 1b are cut and folded separately in the folding groups 1, 15 and each processed in the associated longitudinal fold 14, 23 into the product according to FIG. 3.

In an advantageous manner, it is also possible to put the slitting device indicated in the drawing according to FIG. 1 out of operation and to feed the uncut web only to the lower folding group 1. From this, the cross-folded, non-longitudinally cut printed copies can alternately either via the gripper and folding knife cylinder 11, the ribbon line 24, 25, the folding jaw cylinder 20, the ribbon lines 21, 22, the upper longitudinal fold 23 or from the folding jaw cylinder 10, via the ribbon lines 12, 13 the lower longitudinal fold 14 are fed. Products according to FIG. 4 can thus be produced. This splitting can significantly increase the speed of the folder. In this mode of operation, the The folding jaw cylinder 20 of the upper folding group 15 is partially integrated into the transport path.

The folder of the invention is compact. Only short changeover times between the three possible production types for producing the folded products according to FIGS. 2 to 4 are required. The merging of the printed copies A1, A2 is possible with great accuracy on the folding jaw cylinder 20, it being possible for this to be rotated in the circumferential direction in order to be superimposed on the leading edges. During this process, the printed copy A2 is still held in the jaws 20ʹ. If necessary, a continuous line from the gripper and folding knife cylinder 11 to the upper longitudinal fold 23 can also be used instead of the lower lines 25 and 22, which line then has to be partially guided around the folding jaw cylinder 20.
