Description

The present invention relates to apparatus for applying a hot-melt adhesive, which users commonly refer to as "glue guns".

For many years, it has been known, for various portable devices for domestic or professional use, using electrical heating means, for example a resistance, to replace these with a burner, a tank containing the fuel being also integrated. in the device. Autonomous devices, that is to say wireless power supplies, are thus obtained from a source of electrical energy.

  • - un boitier formant poignée de préhension, contenant un réservoir de méthanol ;
  • - un moyen catalytique de chauffage et de vaporisation du méthanol;
  • - un brûleur catalytique du méthanol vaporisé, comprenant une chambre de combustion au contact d'un catalyseur approprié ;
Thus, according to document US-A-2 997 869, a soldering iron with burner has been proposed, and more precisely with a catalytic burner, comprising
  • - a case forming a grip handle, containing a methanol tank;
  • - a catalytic means for heating and vaporizing methanol;
  • - a catalytic burner of vaporized methanol, comprising a combustion chamber in contact with an appropriate catalyst;
  • - a metal body, forming the tip of the soldering iron, placed in the center and in the axis of the combustion chamber, capturing the heat of combustion.

In fact, catalytic burners appear to be well suited for use in portable devices requiring a heat source, on the one hand because of the combustion temperature developed by this type of burner, much lower than that of open flame burners. , including radiant burners, and on the other hand because of their ability to radiate the heat produced, compared to other modes of heat transmission (convection in particular).

This is why the catalytic burners have received all kinds of configurations, including tubular, to be used appropriately in different applications such as those illustrated in documents FR-A-1,228,443 and FR-A-1,095,865.

  • -un boitier avec poignée de préhension, présentant à l'arrière un orifice pour l'alimentation des bâtonnets d'adhésif solide ;
With regard to glue guns, we know that, in their electric version, they generally include:
  • -a case with grip handle, having at the rear an orifice for feeding the sticks of solid adhesive;
  • - a nozzle for the distribution of the melted adhesive, placed at the front of the case:
  • - and one. metallic monobloc assembly gathering on the one hand a rod melting duct, which is arranged at least partly inside the case, and communicates at one end with the dispensing nozzle, and on the other hand a hollow heating body and blind, located under the fusion pipe parallel to it, and in which is housed an electrical resistance.

In various documents, for example DE-A-2 118 253, GB-A-2 156 440, it has been proposed to substitute a burner for the electrical resistance, in particular a catalytic burner, in order to make these glue guns completely autonomous , provided that a tank of liquefied combustible gas is integrated into the appliance, for example in the handle. Thus, according to documents DE-A-2 732 365, EP-A-0123 255, a catalytic burner is arranged around the heating duct.

The glue guns, with a gas catalytic burner, proposed by the prior art, do not appear satisfactory in practice, which in particular makes them unsuitable for daily use by professionals or experienced users. And the object of the invention is to improve this type of device, to the point of making it a product having a reliable and efficient operation.

According to the invention, the box has two adjacent compartments, relatively sealed between them, namely a first compartment located at the rear, in communication with gills for introducing primary or oxidizing air, in which the inlet is arranged. of the burner, and a second compartment containing the majority of the fusion duct and the rest of the burner, in communication with flues for discharging combustion fumes.

This technical characteristic makes it possible to separate the path of the incoming air from that of the combustion fumes, and in particular to avoid any mixing of the combustion air with the combustion gases or fumes within the appliance, this is that is to say inside the case. This result is essential when you know that a glue gun is used in all positions, including the nozzle at the bottom; position in which the combustion fumes inevitably rise upwards, therefore towards the combustion air inlet.

Preferably, a combustion smoke deflector is located at the front of the fusion duct and the combustion chamber to put in communication, on one side an open end of said chamber opposite to the inlet of the burner, and the 'other side a annular area around the conduit A fusion adjacent to the dispensing nozzle, a combustion flue gas outlet opening being formed in the baffle at said annular area.

In this way, the combustion fumes heat the front part of the heating duct, adjacent to the nozzle, but also the latter. This makes it possible in operation to avoid any cooling of the adhesive, increasing its viscosity, between the part of the heating body facing the burner, and the nozzle, and therefore not to hinder the operation of the latter. Furthermore, when starting the glue gun, or restarting operation, for example under the effect of a regulation, the front part of the melting pipe and the nozzle are immediately warmed up without waiting for the contribution of calories from the rest of the fusion duct or melted glue.

The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing:
  • - Figure 1 is an elevational view of an apparatus established in accordance with the invention
  • - Figure 2 is a longitudinal section on a larger scale;
  • - Figure 3 is a section along III-III (fiq.2)

The conduit of fusion is part of a monobloc assembly (6) further comprising a gas burner (7) preferably produced in the form of a catalytic burner, and disposed in a combustion chamber (8). Under these conditions, the burner (7) is in heat exchange relationship with the fusion duct (4), the end opposite to the orifice (5) is provided with a distribution nozzle (9) comprising a valve. non-return (10).

Les flèches F montrent le trajet parcouru par l'air comburant pour entrer dans le boitier (1) et atteindre l'injecteur (7a).The box (1) has gills or slots (la) allowing the entry of primary or combustion air in the direction of the injector (7a) of the burner (7) located around an inlet nozzle (11) combustible qaz. The arrows F show the path traveled by the combustion air to enter the box (1) and reach the injector (7a).

The one-piece assembly (6) is provided, upstream of the injector (7a) relative to the direction of entry of the combustible gas into the burner (7), with a separating partition produced in the form of a annular screen (12) bringing together, in an almost sealed manner, said monobloc assembly (6) and the internal face of the case (1). Thus, this annular screen (12) constitutes in said case two adjacent compartments which are relatively leaktight between them. The first compartment which is located upstream, that is to say at the rear of the housing relative to the nozzle (9), is in communication with the primary or combustion air introduction openings (la). In this compartment is arranged the injector (7a) of the burner. (7). The second compartment containing the majority of the fusion duct and the burner (4), that is to say in fact the major part of the monobloc assembly (6), is in communication with the outside via other gills (1h) produced in the form of slots passing through the wall of the housing (1). The arrows F1 have illustrated the path of the burnt gases from the burner (7) to the outside.

Thus, when the burner is in operation and the user of the gun distributes glue, with the fusion duct (4) oriented vertically, the fumes or combustion gases cannot go up in the first compartment of the box, so that the pure combustion air is not vitiated by the combustion gases. It is observed that the assembly of the monobloc assembly (6) is facilitated by the presence of the annular screen (12) which is retained between ribs (1c), (1d) formed transversely in the housing (1).

It will be noted that the front of the monobloc assembly (6) is provided with a deflector screen (13) produced in the form of a recovery shell comprising a quasi-cylindrical part (13a) surrounding the front of the duct (4 ), the part of which located in the direction of the nozzle (9) has an annular opening (13b) surrounding the duct (4) and remaining free. The deflector (13) also closes the gas outlet orifice outside the combustion chamber (8), located opposite the injector (7a) of the burner (7), so that said burnt gases are forced to lick an annular zone (14) located around the fusion duct (4) in the vicinity of the nozzle (9), in order to heat this zone located in a place where the thermal bond between the burner and said heating channel is considerably reduced .

Ce réchauffement du débouché du conduit de fusion (4) permet également celui de la buse (9), de telle sorte que le clapet (10) peut fonctionner en toute sécuritéThis heating of the outlet of the melting conduit (4) also allows that of the nozzle (9), so that the valve (10) can operate safely

It should moreover be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the execution details described by all other equivalents.
