Description

The invention relates to a latch needle for textile machines with a tongue which can be pivoted in a longitudinal slot of the needle shaft and which is pivotably mounted by means of a continuous bearing bore on a one-piece cylindrical axle bolt which is inserted into corresponding coaxial bores of the needle shaft cheeks which laterally delimit the longitudinal slot and is captively fixed therein, wherein the length of the axle pin is smaller than the needle shaft thickness at the tongue bearing point and fixing elements for the axle pin are formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks. the axle bolts are formed.

Tongue needles of this type are used in various textile machines, in particular in knitting and knitting machines, but also, for example, in special sewing machines.

High requirements are generally placed on the storage of the tongue with regard to mechanical resilience and accuracy of the tongue guidance, in particular when the latch needles work in high-speed knitting machines or when knitting robust yarns. The wedge effects triggered by the tongue during the knitting process on the needle shaft cheeks delimiting the longitudinal slot try to spread them apart, while at the same time strong lever forces act on the axle bolt via the tongue.

The storage of the tongue by means of its bearing bore on the smooth cylindrical outer surface of a continuous axle bolt results in a very precise and wear-resistant tongue guide. Nevertheless, latch needles with such continuous axle bolts are almost insignificant today because they suffer from broken jaws when subjected to high, particularly dynamic loads. The axle pin is namely rigidly connected at the end to the needle shaft cheeks, for example screwed or welded (DE-C1-12 96 734, CH-A-476 141) or by means of fixing elements formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks by an embossing process which engage in recesses in the axle pin (US-A-27 67 566, DE-C1-11 59 585), which results in a rigid and transverse to the axis of symmetry completely inelastic tongue bearing arrangement, which was recognized as the cause of premature jaw fractures. To this day, tongue needles are used almost consistently in practice, in which the needle tongue with its bearing bore is pivotally mounted on two bearing pins pressed out of the material of the needle shaft cheeks (US-A-39 34 109, GB-C-836 297). Because of the unpredictable flow behavior of the material of the needle shaft cheeks pressed into the bearing bore of the tongue, the bearing pins produced by an embossing process and connected to the needle shaft cheeks are more or less irregular on their outer surface, with the result that the area bearing portion of the needle tongue on the bearing pins is also one brand new needle is relatively small.

The state of the art in the Federal Republic of Germany also includes the proposal (DE-A-35 46 037) to provide a bore in only one of the two needle shaft cheeks delimiting the longitudinal slot and to press in an axle pin of approximately 2/3 of the needle shaft thickness in this, the of the opposite cheek, with which it may be welded. In addition, the axle pin can be fixed by an impression of an embossing tool that surrounds the bore of the shaft cheek in a ring. A one-sided needle shaft cheek drilling is not economically feasible, especially with thin needles in mass production; one-sided stress on a latch needle in the area of its latch support is also undesirable.

The object of the invention is therefore to remedy this situation and to create a latch needle which, on the one hand, has the advantages with regard to accuracy and wear resistance of the latch bearing of a latch needle provided with a continuous axle bolt and, on the other hand, maintains its full suitability for use over long operating periods without the risk of the occurrence of broken jaws .

To achieve this object, the latch needle mentioned at the outset is characterized according to the invention in that the fixing elements act only as axial stops for the axle bolt in one direction in the vicinity of the outward-facing free end faces of the axle bolt lying in the depth of the holes in the needle shaft cheeks in the bores the needle shaft cheeks are arranged protruding.

On the smooth cylindrical outer surface of the one-piece axle pin, the tongue with its bearing bore is perfectly supported with the largest possible surface area and therefore a correspondingly small specific pivot bearing surface load. The fixing elements deformed into the bore of the needle shaft cheeks ensure that the axle bolt does not slide outward over time and can endanger the tongue in its storage. Since the needle shaft cheeks are not rigidly connected to the axle bolt, they can deflect laterally transversely to the plane of needle symmetry to the extent required, so that a corresponding elasticity that is effective transversely to the axis of needle symmetry is ensured and jaw fractures are thus reliably prevented.

In a preferred embodiment, an annular material bead is formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks as the fixing element. In addition, it is often expedient if the fixing elements are axially spaced from the adjacent end faces of the axle bolt, so that an inward elastic movement of the needle shaft cheeks is possible without hindrance if necessary.

Finally, it has proven to be advantageous if the axle bolt with its outside facing end faces is essentially in the half of the bore adjacent to the longitudinal slot in the needle shaft cheeks.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the object of the invention is shown. Show it:
  • Fig. 1 is a latch needle according to the invention, partly in axial longitudinal section, in detail and in a side view
  • Fig. 2, the latch needle of Fig. 1, cut along the line 11-11 of Fig. 1 in a side view and on a different scale.

The latch needle has a needle shaft 1, on which a hook 2 is integrally formed at one end and can carry feet, not shown, which interact in a known manner with lock parts of knitting machines etc. A longitudinal slot 3, which runs symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane of the needle, is milled into the needle shaft 1 and opens to the lower edge of the needle shaft via an opening 4 which serves to remove lint. In the longitudinal slot 3, a tongue 5 is pivotally mounted, which at one end carries a tongue spoon 7 covering the hook tip 6 in the closed position shown and whose shaft 8 fitted into the longitudinal slot 3 with parallel flanks has a bearing bore 9. In the needle shaft cheeks 10 which laterally delimit the longitudinal slot 3, a transverse bore 12 is formed which is coaxial with the pivot axis of the tongue 5 indicated at 11 and into which a smooth-walled cylindrical axle bolt 13 is inserted in the sliding seat, crossing the longitudinal slot 3. On the axle pin 13, the tongue with its bearing bore 9 is supported with a small radial bearing clearance, which corresponds, for example, to a diameter difference of + 0.001 mm and less. Together with the very narrow tongue bearing play in the axial direction between the two needle shaft cheeks 10, this results in an extremely precise and resilient tongue bearing which is also characterized by wear resistance.

The axle bolt 13 lies with its outwardly facing parallel end faces 14 in the half of the respective bore 12 adjacent to the longitudinal slot 3, whereby in the illustrated embodiment it projects approximately to the center of the bore depth. It is axially fixed in the bores 12 by fixing elements projecting into these bores, which are in the vicinity of the free end faces 14 of the axle bolt 13 and are formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks 10. In the exemplary embodiment shown, these fixing elements are each in the form of an annular material bead 15, which lies at a small axial distance 16 from the adjacent end faces 14 of the axle bolt 13. Since the two material beads 15 only act as axial stops, which prevent an impermissibly wide lateral displacement of the bolt 13 in the bores 12, but otherwise there is no rigid connection between the axle pin 13 and the needle shaft cheeks 10, the needle shaft cheeks 10 can deflect elastically laterally if they are subjected to a corresponding alternating load during operation. This eliminates the risk of broken jaws.

Instead of the annular beads 15, finger-like or tooth-like fixing elements could also be provided, which are formed in the material of the needle shaft side cheeks 10 by an embossing process and project into the bores 12 in a corresponding manner.
