Aufgrund von Erfahrungen mit der­artigen Bandfilterpressen und theoretischen Überlegungen hat sich ergeben, daß der Preßdruck von verschiedenen Parametern abhängig ist, wie zum Beispiel der Elastizität des Preßbandes der Preßdauer und auch vom Durchmesser der Preßwalzen. So hat sich gezeigt, daß der Preßdruck weitgehend unabhängig vom Umschlingungswinkel, aber umgekehrt proportional zum Radius der Preßwalzen ist. Aus diesen Gründen wären nun Preßwalzen mit möglichst geringem Durchmesser wünschenswert. Die auf der­artige Walzen ausgeübten Kräfte sind im Hochdruckbereich einer Bandfilterpresse jedoch sehr erheblich, so daß aus Stabilitäts­gründen (Durchbiegungen) der Walzendurchmesser je nach Walzen­breite und Materialbeschaffenheit einen bestimmten kritischen Wert nicht unterschreiten kann. Erfahrungen haben andererseits aber gezeigt, daß dieser unter kritische Walzendurchmesser nicht immer ausreicht, um einen Preßdruck zu erzeugen, der einen zufriedenstellenden Trocknungsgrad des Preßgutes bewirkt.Such press rolls are often used in belt filter presses in such a way that the press belts are looped back and forth between them in an S-shape.
