Device for pressing flexible sheet-like structures produced in a continuous flow
The present invention relates to a device for pressing flexible sheet-like structures arising in a continuous flow, in particular folded printed products arising in an imbricated flow, with at least one pair of rollers passing the flow between them, the generator of at least one roller at least one of the straight lines having different roller section and wherein at least one of the rollers is driven.
Such devices are known in particular in connection with newspaper transport systems and serve to firstly expel the air still contained in the newspapers or magazines from the folding process in a stream of newspapers or magazines, which usually occurs in imbricated formation, and also to improve the already existing fold, i.e. to express this.
In addition, pressing devices of the type mentioned are known which additionally press bead-like kinks on the individual newspapers that run in the conveying direction in order to stiffen them in the conveying direction and in this way give the conveying flow a more solid lateral connection, which is e.g. to improve the counting accuracy, the separation process, the stacking of the package as well as the alignment in the stack, etc.
The known devices mostly adhere to the disadvantages that the organs causing the bead-like kinking in the newspaper, e.g. so-called kink rollers, which often damage the newspaper itself or smear the print.
It is now the purpose of the invention to create a device for pressing flexible sheet-like structures that arise in a continuous flow, in which the aforementioned disadvantages are largely avoided.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the roller sections are mounted freely rotatable about the roller axis.
The roller sections can expediently be complementary bead rings on one roller and grooved rings on the other roller of the pair, at least one bead ring being expediently always arranged in the longitudinal center of one roller.
A plurality of successive pairs of rollers can be provided with roller sections arranged in different ways and connected to one another by means of revolving endless guide members.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention are described with reference to the accompanying drawings. It shows:
1 shows a schematic side view of a device for pressing a flow of newspaper,
FIG. 2 is a plan view of the device according to FIG. 1,
Fig. 3 is a view of the first pair of rollers in section along the line A-A in Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a view of the second and third roller pair in section along the lines B-B in Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is a view of another embodiment of a first pair of rollers in section along the line A-A in Fig. 1;
6 shows a view of the second and third roller pairs belonging to the first roller pair according to FIG. 5 in section along the lines B-B in FIG.
7 is a partial view of a bead and groove arrangement in section along the line C-C in FIGS. 3 and 5.
In the side view, shown schematically in FIG. 1, of a pressing device for a continuously accumulating, loose flow of newspaper, the latter is denoted by the number 1. Stream 1 enters the device in a flake-like formation, where it is first passed through a first pair of rollers 2, then through a second pair of rollers 3 and finally through a third pair of rollers 4, which compress the newspapers in each stage and use buckling rollers with a bead-like provided with a kink running in the conveying direction, whereby the stability of the shingled conveying flow is improved, so that it is shown on the right in Fig.
1 as stream 5 leaves the device in a relatively flattened state and provided over its entire length with at least one longitudinal kink and thus largely protected against lateral displacement of individual newspapers.
FIG. 2 shows the same arrangement schematically in a top view with three kinks 12, 42, 43 drawn in dashed lines in stream 5.
3 and 4 show the roller pairs 2, 3 and 4 in section along the lines AA and BB in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 showing the first roller pair 2 and FIG. 4 the second and third roller pair 3 and 4, respectively shows.
The first pair of rollers 2 consists of an upper roller 6 and a lower roller 7, both generators of which are held at a certain distance from one another by suitable mounting of the shafts 8, 9. Both rollers 6, 7 have a fundamentally cylindrical shape, which is interrupted by intermediate sections that differ from the generatrix of the rollers. These intermediate sections are freely rotatable relative to the assigned roller, the deviating section of the upper roller 6 being designed as a bead ring 10 which is rotated by the imbricated flow 1 passed between the two rollers 6, 7.
Opposite the bead ring 10 there is an outwardly open grooved ring 11 on the roller 7, which is also freely rotatable on its roller 7, which forms the counterpart to the bead ring 10 and serves as a support for the kink pressed by the bead ring 10 into the newspaper when the newspaper material passes through.
This kink is indicated at 12 in the imbricated flow 1 (Fig. 3). The roller 7 also has two groove rings 13, 14 which are also freely rotatable and which are arranged laterally from the groove ring 11 and whose function will be explained later.
If, with this arrangement, the bead ring 10 were not freely rotatable, as in conventional devices, with the roller 6 rotating, the circumferential surface 15 of the bead ring 10 would have a greater circumferential speed than the cylindrical bearing surface 16 of the roller 6, which would create a relative movement between the newspaper and the bead ring would, so that the newspaper located between the roller 6 and the counter roller 7 would either be damaged, or at least the pressure would be smeared off.
Because the bead ring 10 and the groove ring 11 assigned to it on the mating roller 7, which is also freely rotatable relative to its roller 7, is rotated by the newspaper material driven by one of the rollers, the circumferential speed on the support surface 15 adapts to the larger diameter, the speed of the newspaper material and there is neither damage to the newspaper nor smearing of the thickness.
A section C-C through the bead ring 10 and the annular groove 11 is shown greatly enlarged in detail in FIG. 7, the bearing of the bead ring 10 and the groove ring 11 being independent of the rollers 6 and 7 clearly visible.
It is noteworthy in this connection that the bead ring 10 continuously transfers into the straight line of the roller 6 on both sides, while in the case of the U-ring 11 the continuous transition into the straight line takes place on the roller body of the roller 7.
In addition, it can be seen from FIG. 7 that the radius of curvature of the profile of the bead ring 10 is smaller than that of the U-ring 11, the difference in the radii of curvature being selected so that it corresponds approximately to the thickness of the newspaper material passed through. Of course, the bead ring 10 and the U-ring 11 in FIG. 7 are representative of the other bead and U-rings.
The roller pairs 3 and 4 are identical to one another and are shown in FIG. 4 as section B-B of FIG.
Because the two pairs are identical, only the pair of rollers 3 will be described. This consists of an upper roller 17 and a lower roller 18, each of which is mounted on a corresponding shaft 22 and 23, respectively. As with the roller pair 2, the rollers 17 and 18 of the roller pair 3 also have a basically cylindrical shape which is also interrupted by sections deviating from the generating line. When comparing with the roller pair 2 according to FIG. 3, it can be established that the lower roller 18 of the second roller pair 3 is identical to the lower roller 7 of the first roller pair 2, which is why the same reference numbers are used.
The upper roller 17 has, in addition to the bead ring 19 arranged in the longitudinal center as already provided for the roller 6 of the first roller pair 2, two additional bead rings 20 and 21 arranged on both sides of the bead ring 19 on the roller 17, which are connected to the bead ring 19 and thus with the bead ring 10 of the roller 6 and are thus also freely rotatable on their associated roller 17.
These bead rings 20 u. 21 are opposite to the U-rings 13 and 14, already mentioned in the explanation of FIG. 3, designed as freely rotatable roller sections, with which together they fulfill the same function as the bead ring 19 with the U-ring 11, namely the formation of a bead-like) to buckle the newspaper material, the circumferential speeds on the relevant contact surfaces also adapt to the speed of the newspaper material, which is made possible by the free rotation of the bead ring groove ring pairs 20, 13 and 21, 14 through the newspaper material carried out in between. So there is no damage to the newspapers at this point either, with the second or third pair of rollers.
Returning to the previously mentioned two freely rotatable grooved rings 13 and 14 of the first pair of rollers 2, which do not have any associated bead rings, these grooved rings 13, 14 serve to absorb the kinking from the second pair of rollers 3. An attachment of kinks in the U-rings 13, 14 of the first pair of rollers 2 is not carried out, but only space is created to accommodate the retroactive kinks.
The lower rollers of roller pairs 2, 3 and 4 are connected to one another with parallel endless belts 28, 29, 30 and 31 (Fig. 3, 4), while the upper rollers of pairs 2 and 3 are connected to endless strings 24, 25, 26 and 27 and that of the pairs 3 and 4 are connected to respective endless strings 32, 33, 34 and 35. These belts and strings themselves do not have any drive, press or conveying function, but merely serve to prevent the newspapers passing through from running between the rollers and thus causing stoppages.
In Figs. 5 and 6, another embodiment of a combination of pairs of rollers is shown. the pair shown in FIG. 5 with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2 corresponds to the first roller pair 2 and the roller pair shown in FIG. 6 corresponds to the second and third roller pairs 3 and 4. The individual roller elements are the same, only their arrangement on the rollers is different from the example described above.
The first pair of rollers (Fig. 5) has a longitudinally arranged freely rotatable bead ring 36 and two also freely rotatable groove rings 37 and 38 located laterally on the roller. The same applies to the two upper rollers of the second and third roller pairs 3 and 4 ( Fig. 6). The lower roller of the first pair (FIG. 5) only has a longitudinally centered groove ring 39 which is intended to interact with the bead ring 36. The grooved rings 37 and 38 serve to accommodate the kinks acting back from the second pair of rollers 3.
The lower rollers of the second and third roller pair (Fig. 6) are identical and, in addition to a longitudinally centered grooved ring 39, have two beaded rings 40, 41 mounted on both sides of the same on the same roller, which interact with the corresponding grooved rings 37, 38 of the upper rollers of the second and third pairs 3 and 4, respectively, are determined.
The difference between the first and the second exemplary embodiment lies in the type of bead-like kinks made. While in the first embodiment (FIGS. 3 and 4) all three attached kinks 12, 42, 43 protrude downwards, this is only the case with the middle kink 12 in the second embodiment (FIGS. 5 and 6). The two outer bends 44, 45 protrude upwards.
The arrangement of the straps 28, 29, 30, 31 and strings 24, 25, 26, 27 and 32, 33, 34, 35 is the same as in the first example.
For certain applications, the grooved rings serving as counter bearings for the bead rings could easily be dispensed with, in which case recesses would be provided opposite the bead rings in the relevant roller, which could be bridged by thin-walled spacer sleeves so that a free space would simply be left open for the formation of kinks .
Of course, the gap between the upper and the lower roller can be continuously adjustable, and this can be done manually or automatically.
In addition, a guide means 46 is provided at the inlet to the device (FIG. 1), which by means of a roller 47 obliquely downward against the entry point of the newspaper material in the area of the first roller pair 2, the newspapers run against the newspaper prevents the roller pairs.
