Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a tool for surfacing a stony material having a flat face.
  • the tool comprises a support plate rotatably mounted on a spindle perpendicular to said planar face, so as to be driven in a plane parallel to this face and furnished below with at least one pair of cylindrical abrasive rollers, mounted on free bearings rotatable around their own axis, in an eccentric execution with respect to the drive spindle, so that the rollers have both a rolling component and a tangential sliding component with respect to the stony material.
  • This type of tool is particularly suitable for equipping either a polishing train or an automatic polisher intended for dressing, softening and polishing very hard rocks, such as granite, in order to provide them with a sufficient surface finish. to receive the buffing.
  • EP-A-0 067 402 describes a surfacing tool for hard rocks.
  • This tool comprises a vertical shaft and rollers fitted with diamond crowns and rotatably mounted around a horizontal axis, so as to arrange the working surface of the crowns in the same horizontal plane.
  • the rollers are preferably distributed at each of the vertices of a regular polygon inscribed in a circle whose center is determined by the vertical tree. They are oriented tangentially to a concentric circle of arbitrarily chosen radius. Each roller is therefore mounted on its own axis, parallel to the surface to be treated.
  • the surface swept by the contact generator of each roller is varied. This surface is that between the circles determined by the ends of each generatrix of contact of the rollers with the stony material.
  • the working surface is maximum when the surfacing roller is oriented tangentially to a circle of zero radius.
  • an efficiency of the derisory tool because the action of the roller is essentially reduced to a rolling, during which the peripheral speed of the rollers in rotation around their own axis parallel to the face to be treated is maximum and the slip almost zero.
  • the working surface of the roller is reduced to a thin annular surface, when the roller is oriented tangentially to a circle of large diameter.
  • the peripheral speed of the roller on itself is then minimum and the sliding of the rollers on the stony material is maximum.
  • the effectiveness of the tool is better but relates to a too small work surface.
  • EP-A-46 604 also discloses a tool for roughing, smoothing and polishing solid surfaces.
  • This known tool comprises a rotating horizontal plate carrying frustoconical rollers, arranged radially with their large base directed towards the outside of the plate. These rollers are driven in rotation about their own axis by a pinion engaged with a peripheral toothed ring made integral with the frame of the machine. The direction of rotation is chosen opposite to that of the rotation of the plate, so that the speeds of rotation of the rollers and of the plate subtract at the level of the generator of contact with the stony material.
  • the appropriate dimensioning of the diameters of the rollers and the choice of the speeds of rotation of the plate and the rollers which must make it possible to obtain a uniform distribution of the wear of the diamond segments of the rollers is quite complex.
  • the roller drive mechanism is complicated because it includes many moving mechanical parts and therefore subject to wear.
  • Document US-A-4 361 987 also discloses a surfacing device comprising a mounting element which can rotate about a first axis of rotation and at least one finishing element which can rotate freely relative to the mounting element, around a second axis of rotation.
  • the finishing elements consist of rollers rigidly fixed to the ends of a shaft, arranged on the same side of a radial plane. perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and passing through the axis of rotation of the mounting element.
  • the pair of rollers is subjected to translational displacements of parallel directions and of the same sign. As a result, the pair of rollers tends to roll over the material to be surfaced.
  • the radial component of the speed of rotation becomes preponderant. Due to the different distance of each of the rollers from the above-mentioned radial plane, the translation component is different for each of the rollers. This difference induces a friction effect of the rollers on the material to be surfaced and therefore a grinding effect. This effect is however minimal compared to the rolling speed involved. This results in significant vibrations and a lot of noise.
  • a comet tail precedes the cutting element of the tool. The bite of the tool is therefore very weak and the tool described in the known state of the art tends to slip on itself.
  • the present invention aims to remedy the above-mentioned drawback and proposes a surface head of simple and robust construction, having a better bite for a lower noise level and energy consumption.
  • a tool for surfacing a stony material having a flat face comprising a support plate rotatably mounted on a spindle perpendicular to said flat face, so as to be driven in a plane parallel to this face and furnished below '' at least one pair of cylindrical abrasive rollers, mounted on free rotating bearings around their own axis, in one embodiment off-center with respect to the drive spindle, so that the rollers have both a rolling component and a tangential sliding component with respect to the material, characterized in that the rollers are mounted two by two rigidly at the ends of the same shaft, one of the rollers having a speed relative to the stony material, lower than that of the other roller.
  • the shafts are rotated by bearings carried by bases arranged between the rollers.
  • each of the rollers of the pair has along the line of contact with the stony material, a speed relative to the stony material, which is directed in the same direction and the same direction as the speed of translation of the centers of rotation of each pair of rollers and the magnitude of the speed of one of the rollers (8 ') of the pair (8, 8') is less than that of l 'other roller (8) of the pair (8, 8').
  • Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the tool.
  • a surfacing tool designated as a whole by the reference notation 1 comprises a rotary head constituted by a horizontal rectangular support plate 2, mounted in its center 3 on a vertical drive spindle 4.
  • the support plate 2 is rectified on its underside and has several rows 5, 6 of fixing holes 7.
  • the underside of the plate 2 is equipped with rollers 8, 8 '.
  • Each roller 8 or 8 ′ consists of a cylindrical body 9 of approximately 10 to 200 mm in radius, on which is mounted a series of rings 10 formed of juxtaposed diamond cylindrical rings.
  • rollers 8, 8 ′ are advantageously provided with an abrasive coating produced in the form of one or more rings 10 threaded on a cylindrical body 9.
  • rollers are rigidly coupled in pairs 8, 8 ′ to the ends of the shafts 12, carried by robust bearings 13, formed in bases 14.
  • the pairs of rollers 8, 8 ′ are mounted parallel to each other symmetrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the vertical spindle 4. They are arranged eccentrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the spindle 4, so as to generate for each of the rollers 8, 8 'of the same pair, curved paths of different radii of curvature.
  • This driving force gives rise to an angular speed Y respectively Z for each of the pairs of rollers.
  • the speed of rotation of the spindle 4 and the size of the plate and the rollers, as well as the offset of these will determine the sliding speeds of the rollers on the stony material.
  • a conventional central watering device brings along the driving spindle 4 of the surfacing tool, cooling and washing water which reaches each of the rollers 8, 8 '.
  • each of the rollers 8 has a diameter of 174 mm and a useful length of 120 mm.
  • each pair of tools 8, 8 ′ turns in the Y, Z direction induced by the most eccentric roller 8.
  • the abrasive covering of a roller 8, 8 ′ may consist of a single sleeve 10, mounted on a cylindrical body 9.
