In this way, the start-up strand 3 arrives with the start-up head 13 in the feed-in direction 44 into the guide 9 and into the opening 10 and thus between the driver rollers 11, as described at the beginning.

Claims (5)

1. Apparatus for a short dummy bar, which can be introduced between driving rollers located in the curved path of a curved continuous metal casting plant approximately horizontally from a holder through an opening in the roller frame or in the cooling chamber, characterised in that the holder (5) is movable on a rail track (17) extending transversely to the direction of casting (15) and has a delivery plane (18) and a depositing plane (19), with the delivery plane (18) and the depositing plane (19) being connected together by a transport means (41, 42, 43) which diverts the dummy bar (3), and being arranged in vertical positions one above the other.
2. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterised in that the holder (5) consists of horizontal frame sections (20, 21, 22) and vertical frame sections (23, 24, 25), with the delivery plane (18) consisting of a horizontal frame section (22) and the depositing plane (19) consisting of the horizontal frame section (21) with pairs (26) of rollers arranged in each case, with a drive chain (29) with carriers (30) which is guided around chain wheels (27, 28) being provided between the pairs (26) of rollers.

Apparatus according to Claims 1 and 2, characterised in that in the direction of travel (34) of the holder (5) in each case pairs (26) of rollers, or rollers (26a), chain wheels (27, 28) and drive chains (29) are provided parallel to each other at a distance from a plurality of parallel casting veins.

Apparatus according to Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that one lifting device (16) in each case is provided above the depositing plane (19) on the end (5a) of the holder (5) opposite the delivery side (39) and a vertical guide rail (40) is provided on the frame section (22) of the delivery plane (18) in each case tangentially to a chain wheel (28) with chain (29).
5. Apparatus according to one or more of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that points (41) which free or close the delivery plane (18) are allocated to the transport means between the depositing plane (19) and the delivery plane (18) which diverts the dummy bar (3).
