- the legs of the compacting plate come in its high position in housings of the cover opening into a longitudinal groove formed in the top of the latter and which slidingly encloses the control member of the plate in such a way. that the pins come into this groove to penetrate in the known manner into two longitudinal slides formed in the two opposite longitudinal faces of the control member.
- the slides of the plate control member comprise two notches by which the pins of said plate can be engaged in these slides at a position of the latter which never occurs during operation .

- the latter pivots with respect to to the frame 2 by means of studs 2b of the latter which engage in perforations 3b formed in the ears 3c of the cover 3.
- groove 3a is crossed by an opening 3d located in its middle and which is intended on the one hand for the passage of the control member 6 during compaction and on the other hand to allow the permanent assembly of this member and the compacting plate 4.
- the latter comprises a network of reinforcing ribs from a vertical central extension composed of two vertical legs 4a, 4b, the facing faces each carry a lug 4c, 4d having a common horizontal geometric axis. Between the two legs 4a and 4b is a hollow projection 4e whose role will be better explained below.

- a user wishes to deposit garbage in the trash can, all he has to do is open the lid, pour the garbage into the bag 5, and close the lid. If it then wishes to compact the products deposited in the bag, it extracts the operating member by making it undergo a longitudinal translation along the arrow F in FIG. 5, this translation bringing the two pins 4c, 4d in the vicinity of the end of the member 6 opposite to its handle 6a. Under these conditions, it is possible to do tilt the member 6 to bring it vertically along the arrows F1 and F2 of fig. 5. The next operation consists in lowering the operating member vertically in the downward direction according to arrow F3.
