Definitions
- the invention has for its object to provide a facade cladding that is visually appealing and at the same time provides permanent insulation and a driving rain-proof construction and which is particularly suitable for facade renovation of old buildings.
- the thermal insulation layer can consist of suitable thermal insulation boards or the like, which are attached to the existing masonry with the aid of suitable fastening means.
- the facing shell is also anchored to the existing masonry. It is known to anchor facing bricks to the existing masonry with the help of wire anchors or the like. However, this is not done for the purpose of static support. Facing bricks used in the renovation of old buildings are preferably hung on the existing masonry, which is technically feasible due to the relatively small thickness of the facing, with suitable wall anchors.
- Suitable anchoring means are e.g. so-called injection anchors or dowels, which ensure secure detention even in brittle masonry.
- Anchoring to the existing facing scarf, e, which in turn is fixed by means of wire anchors, is not sufficient, since the wire anchors do not have the required static strength. According to the invention, these wall anchors also serve to fix the insulation layer.
- a gap is left between the facing shell and the insulation layer, through which air can circulate. This prevents moisture from penetrating the insulation layer and reducing its effectiveness or canceling it in unfavorable cases. Any moisture present in the area between the insulation layer and the facing shell is removed from the circulating air.
- the gap mentioned is produced by spacers, by means of which the facing shell is supported on the insulation layer.
- An embodiment of the invention provides that the insulation layer is fixed to the rear masonry with the aid of the masonry anchors.
- the masonry anchors that are used to hang up the facing shell can therefore be used at the same time to fix the insulation layer on the rear masonry. They also prevent the insulation layer from "swelling" or otherwise expanding, so that the air layer always remains functional.
- a further embodiment of the invention provides in this context that the masonry anchors cooperate with an angled rail, the horizontal leg of which serves as a support for the veneer layer. At certain height intervals, e.g. One floor at a time, the masonry anchors are connected with an angle rail, which is used for the static support of the facing shell.
- the spacers There are various options for the design of the spacers.
- one consists of facing bricks having spacers formed on the back.
- these spacers can taper towards the free end.
- the spacers can be shaped as ribs which are also formed when a clay strand is extruded. With a tapering shape of the ribs, a aerodynamic cross section.
- an embodiment of the invention provides that a recess for receiving a separate spacer is formed on the back of the facing brick.
- the spacer can be made of rustproof metal; he is inserted the back of the saver brick.
- a further embodiment of the invention provides that the recess has an undercut for receiving a foot of the spacer.
- a dovetail-like groove can be formed in the back of an energy saving facing, into which the spacer foot is inserted.
- At least one through hole can also be formed in the saving facing for receiving the foot of a spacer on the top or bottom of the facing.
- a further embodiment of the invention provides that a water-impermeable layer is arranged between the free end of the spacer and the insulation layer.
- this water-impermeable layer is connected to the spacers.
- platelet-shaped sections of a water-impermeable film can be glued to the end faces of the spacers.
- Another possibility is to coat the end faces of the spacers with a waterproof layer.
- the back of these can be immersed in a bath with such a liquid, so that at least the back of the spacers is covered with the water-repellent layer.
- a water-impermeable coating in the area of the thermal insulation layer in which the spacers come into contact.
- coating the thermal insulation layer as a whole with a water-impermeable layer, a vapor barrier layer, is not required. It harbors the risk of condensation of moisture in the area of the insulation layer, which is to be avoided by the inventive design of the facade cladding.
- the space kept clear between the facing layer and the insulating layer can only have a satisfactory effect if no or only a little mortar falls into the facing when the facing is bricked up.
- the bricklayer must work very carefully without additional aids, otherwise there is a slight risk that mortar will penetrate the air gap from the bed joint. Such careful work is naturally not always guaranteed. Additional aids can therefore be used to prevent mortar from falling into the gap.
- FIG. 1 an insulation layer 10 made of a suitable heat-insulating material is attached to a rear masonry, not shown.
- a facing layer 11 consists of saving facing 12 or 13 (two different saving facing is shown in FIG. 1 for illustrative purposes only).
- the saving bricks 12, 13 are made of fired clay (brick).
- Spacers 14 and 15 are formed on their back.
- the spacers 14, 15 represent ribs which run in the direction of extrusion of the clay strand. They taper towards the free end, as can be clearly seen from FIG. 1.
- the spacers 14, 15 allow a space 16 with a width of about 3 cm.
- the spacers 14 have drip noses 17 on opposite sides.
- the drip noses 17 are sawtooth-shaped in cross section. They prevent moisture from migrating along the outside of the spacers 14 in the direction of the thermal insulation layer 10.
- the facing bricks 12, 13 are walled up with a suitable mortar 18, which is not dealt with in detail at this point.
- a water-impermeable layer 19 is arranged on the free end faces of the spacers 14, 15. It can be applied during the production of the saving bricks 12, 13, for example in liquid or solid form.
- the saver bricks 12, 13 are fastened to the masonry (not shown) with the help of suitable wall anchors and hung on this.
- individual injection wall anchors can be connected with an angle rail, the horizontal leg of which serves to support the brick.
- the wall anchors can also serve to define the insulation layer 10.
- an insulation layer 10 is in turn arranged on a rear masonry in the manner described above.
- Saving bricks 20 have two dovetail-shaped grooves 21 on the rear side.
- the grooves 21 are also formed during the production of the saving bricks 10
- Galvanized wire or the like shaped spacers 22 have an expansion foot 23 which is inserted into the groove 21.
- the spacer 22 has a contact surface 24 which bears against the insulation layer 10.
- a drip disk 25 on the shaft of the spacer 22 prevents this Migration of moisture towards the insulation layer.
- the facing brick 13 in Fig. 1 is L-shaped. It is used in the area of windows and wall corners. His leg 40 gives the impression that the wall was created with "normal" facing and meets the requirements of the monument protection authorities.
- the template 40 is made of flat material and is complementary to the rear of the facing brick 13. It has a length equal to the length of the facing 13 according to FIG. 1. A somewhat larger length is preferably chosen, namely the distance between the centers of adjacent butt joints.
- the height of the template 40 is at least equal to the height of the facing brick plus the thickness of a bed joint 41 so that the lower bed joint 41 is covered when the template is held against the facing brick from behind.
- a handle 42 can be provided on the rear side of the template 40 so that a facing brick 12, 13 can be gripped and placed with the aid of the template 40.
- the facing shell consists of facing bricks, such as are shown in FIG. 1. It lies against an insulating layer 50 via the molded spacers.
- the insulation layer is placed against the outside of a masonry 51, not shown.
- the masonry 51 can have one or two shells and the masonry of a new building or an old building to be renovated.
- a bore 52 is formed through the insulation layer 50 and into the masonry 51 for receiving an injection anchor 53.
- the injection anchor 53 has an anchor bolt 55 with a box profile, which is square or rectangular in cross section and is surrounded by a stocking 56.
- the principle of an injection anchor is known in principle. However, it is specially designed for use in facade cladding.
- the spacers 15 form an air space between the veneer layer and the insulation layer 50, the holes 67 in the leg 66 also serving for flow purposes.
- the air flow is indicated by arrows 70.
- FIGS. 7 and 8 show possibilities for invisibly attaching the mounting rail.
- the mounting rail is generally designated 75.
- the facing brick 76 according to FIG. 7 has a recess 77 with a rectangular cross section on the bearing surface, which is open to the rear.
- the recess is dimensioned such that in the case of a mortar layer or an elastic joint 78 between the bottom of the recess and the horizontal leg of the rail 75, the horizontal leg is covered, even if there is a common mortar joint 80 between the facing stone 76 and the normal facing stone 79 underneath runs.
- recesses 77, 77 ' are formed on the mutually facing bearing surfaces of the facing bricks 76, 76' in accordance with FIG. 7 for receiving the horizontal leg of the angle rail 75.
- the projection anchor described is not limited to the support of facing shells made of individual facing stones. Rather, the injection anchor can . and support rail existing arrangement support any veneer.
Abstract
Description
Old buildings often have inadequate thermal insulation. One way to improve the thermal insulation of the masonry is to apply an insulating layer of suitable heat-insulating material to the outside of the outer walls. The thermal insulation layer can be covered with a suitable plaster. This serves on the one hand to protect them against moisture and on the other hand to improve their appearance. Nevertheless, there is a risk that moisture will penetrate into the thermal insulation layer and reduce its effectiveness or, in unfavorable cases, cancel it out.
Many old buildings are clad with facing shells, especially with brick or Clinker facing or sand-lime brick facing. Large format boards made from various materials are also used. Often there is the wish of the house owner or the requirement of a monument protection authority that the character of a house is preserved, even if thorough renovation measures are carried out.
The invention has for its object to provide a facade cladding that is visually appealing and at the same time provides permanent insulation and a driving rain-proof construction and which is particularly suitable for facade renovation of old buildings.
- a) an insulating layer adjacent to the existing masonry made of heat-insulating material
- b) Anchoring the facing shell to the existing masonry with the help of masonry anchors at a distance from the insulation layer
- c) Spacers between the facing shell and the insulation layer.
The thermal insulation layer can consist of suitable thermal insulation boards or the like, which are attached to the existing masonry with the aid of suitable fastening means. The facing shell is also anchored to the existing masonry. Suitable anchoring means are e.g. so-called injection anchors or dowels, which ensure secure detention even in brittle masonry. Anchoring to the existing facing scarf, e, which in turn is fixed by means of wire anchors, is not sufficient, since the wire anchors do not have the required static strength. According to the invention, these wall anchors also serve to fix the insulation layer.
According to the invention, a gap is left between the facing shell and the insulation layer, through which air can circulate. This prevents moisture from penetrating the insulation layer and reducing its effectiveness or canceling it in unfavorable cases. Any moisture present in the area between the insulation layer and the facing shell is removed from the circulating air. The gap mentioned is produced by spacers, by means of which the facing shell is supported on the insulation layer.
An embodiment of the invention provides that the insulation layer is fixed to the rear masonry with the aid of the masonry anchors. The masonry anchors that are used to hang up the facing shell can therefore be used at the same time to fix the insulation layer on the rear masonry. They also prevent the insulation layer from "swelling" or otherwise expanding, so that the air layer always remains functional.
A further embodiment of the invention provides in this context that the masonry anchors cooperate with an angled rail, the horizontal leg of which serves as a support for the veneer layer. At certain height intervals, e.g. One floor at a time, the masonry anchors are connected with an angle rail, which is used for the static support of the facing shell.
There are various options for the design of the spacers. According to the invention, one consists of facing bricks having spacers formed on the back. According to a further embodiment of the invention, these spacers can taper towards the free end. In the case of facings which are made from fired clay, the spacers can be shaped as ribs which are also formed when a clay strand is extruded. With a tapering shape of the ribs, a aerodynamic cross section.
A further embodiment of the invention provides in this connection that incisions are formed on the spacers. According to a further embodiment of the invention, these can be shaped as sawtooth-like incisions. The incisions prevent water settling on the back of the facing brick from migrating over the spacers to the insulation layer.
Alternatively, an embodiment of the invention provides that a recess for receiving a separate spacer is formed on the back of the facing brick. The spacer can be made of rustproof metal; he is inserted the back of the saver brick. For this purpose, a further embodiment of the invention provides that the recess has an undercut for receiving a foot of the spacer. For example, a dovetail-like groove can be formed in the back of an energy saving facing, into which the spacer foot is inserted.
At least one through hole can also be formed in the saving facing for receiving the foot of a spacer on the top or bottom of the facing.
In the case of separate spacers made of metal or a similar material, according to a further embodiment of the invention, a drip disk is arranged in the gap. The drip disc known per se has the same function as the incisions in the molded spacers.
Usually, it can be sufficient if the spacers lie more or less flat against the thermal insulation layer. An alternative embodiment of the invention provides that the spacers have two or more radially spaced tips at the free end, which penetrate into the insulation layer. The tips clamp the insulation layer in their area and prevent unwanted deformation of the insulation material, so that the cross section of the air layer is guaranteed.
In particular with molded-on spacers, there is the possibility that moisture present in the brick due to driving rain penetrates through the spacers into the thermal insulation layer and adversely affects it. In this context, a further embodiment of the invention provides that a water-impermeable layer is arranged between the free end of the spacer and the insulation layer. In a further embodiment of the invention, this water-impermeable layer is connected to the spacers. For example, platelet-shaped sections of a water-impermeable film can be glued to the end faces of the spacers. Another possibility is to coat the end faces of the spacers with a waterproof layer. In the production of the saving bricks, the back of these can be immersed in a bath with such a liquid, so that at least the back of the spacers is covered with the water-repellent layer. Alternatively, of course, there is also the possibility of applying a water-impermeable coating in the area of the thermal insulation layer in which the spacers come into contact. However, coating the thermal insulation layer as a whole with a water-impermeable layer, a vapor barrier layer, is not required. It harbors the risk of condensation of moisture in the area of the insulation layer, which is to be avoided by the inventive design of the facade cladding.
The space kept clear between the facing layer and the insulating layer can only have a satisfactory effect if no or only a little mortar falls into the facing when the facing is bricked up. The bricklayer must work very carefully without additional aids, otherwise there is a slight risk that mortar will penetrate the air gap from the bed joint. Such careful work is naturally not always guaranteed. Additional aids can therefore be used to prevent mortar from falling into the gap. One is according to the invention that a strip is placed between the spacers only in the area of the integrally formed spacers of the facing, which strip has approximately the thickness of the mortar joint. When placing the stones, the bar prevents mortar from entering the gap. After placing a layer of facing brick, the strip is then pulled out. To make pulling out easier, the bar can preferably also be somewhat thinner than the thickness of the mortar joint. Another alternative is to make a template that is held against the back when a facing brick is placed. Protrusions of the template protrude into the spaces between the spacers up to the lower bearing joint, so that mortar is effectively prevented from penetrating into the space.

The
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, an
The facing
It is essential in the case of facing bricks with molded-on spacers according to FIG. 1 that the spacers are not mortared, otherwise moisture could be transferred through the mortar to the insulation layer.
One possibility for preventing the spacers from being mortared and for mortar falling into the
In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, the facing shell consists of facing bricks, such as are shown in FIG. 1. It lies against an insulating
As can be seen further from FIG. 6, the
A bore 65 in the
The
As already stated above, the
It should only be mentioned in passing that instead of an injection opening 66 in the
In an embodiment according to FIG. 6, the front edge of the
In the embodiment according to FIG. 8, recesses 77, 77 'are formed on the mutually facing bearing surfaces of the facing
In this embodiment, too, the mounting rail cannot be seen from the outside of the veneer layer. In this embodiment, the
An expansion strip made of deformable material can be arranged in the bearing joint above the
It should also be mentioned that the projection anchor described is not limited to the support of facing shells made of individual facing stones. Rather, the injection anchor can . and support rail existing arrangement support any veneer.
