Eine derartige Trommelwaschmaschine ist aus der DE-A-2 704 498 bekannt geworden. Diese Aufgabe wird gemäß der Erfindung dadurch gelöst, daß zwei der Tragarme peripher zum Laugenbehälter über einen plattenförmigen Halter für den Antriebsmotor miteinander steif verbunden sind und daß der Halter zwischen den Tragarmen zur Abstützung des Laugenbehälters mit einer Schulter entsprechend dem Rand des Laugenbehälters versehen ist. Dadurch, daß zwei der Tragarme peripher zum Laugenbehälter über einen plattenförmigen Halter für den Antriebsmotor miteinander steif verbunden sind, wird das Gewicht des Motors am Laugenbehälter gleichmäßig verteilt. Ferner wirken auf den Laugenbehälter stets gleiche Kräfte, was sich vorteilhaft auf den ruhigen Lauf der Maschine auswirkt. Das Tragkreuz wird durch den die beiden Arme verbindenden Halter insgesamt versteift und besitzt eine hohe Tragfestigkeit und Stabilität. Da sich der Halter zwischen zwei Armen erstreckt, ist er in Umfangsrichtung des Tragkreuzes relativ lang. Dadurch können auf ihm ohne Schwierigkeiten Motoren mit zwei relativ weit auseinanderliegenden Befestigungsstellen befestigt werden. Eine besonders stabile Bauweise ergibt sich, wenn der Halter einstückig an die beiden Tragarme angeformt ist.
