Abstract

The hand brush (10) has a grip part (15) constructed as a reservoir (16) for a cleaning liquid. The liquid outlet channel (14), constructed in the bristle bearer (12), can be closed by means of a spring-loaded closure member (20) which has a projection (21) projecting through the liquid outlet channel (14) and into the bristle region, which projection has a shorter length than the bristles (13) both in their position of rest and under their normal load of operating pressure. Only under greater pressure on the hand brush (10) does the projection (21) come into contact with the surface to be cleaned, which leads to the exposure of the liquid outlet channel (14) by raising the closure member (20, 20a). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a hand brush with a handle part designed as a storage for a cleaning liquid and with a bristle carrier that has a central outlet opening in the region of the bristles for the cleaning liquid, which is provided with a plate-shaped closing element that is adjustable against spring force and that is on the inside of the bristle carrier is prestressed against the outlet channel opening and carries a pin-like projection which projects through the outlet channel at a distance from the wall thereof and whose protruding part from the outlet channel into the bristle region has a shorter length than the bristles both in their rest position and under normal working pressure loads .

A hand brush with the above features is known from US-A-2 091 369. The dispenser brush described there is designed as a non-refillable disposable brush that is thrown away when its liquid container is empty. It is not designed like a refillable storage brush for a long life. The closing member sealing the outlet channel is loaded by a spring which acts on it and is supported on the bristle holder of the brush, which in the long term cannot guarantee a secure liquid-tight closure in the idle state. The spring, which is supported only on one side, does not result in any surface pressure over the entire diameter range of the closing element, so that even the slightest spring fatigue is a risk of a reliable closure of the passage channel. In addition, the handle part and bristle carrier do not adjoin one another in this known hand brush. There is a seal between the two parts, the also tired over time.

From US-A-2 493 990 a refillable hand brush with a handle part designed as a memory is known, in which a valve member controlling an outlet opening of the handle part is loaded by symmetrically acting suspension elements. However, the brush disclosed there has the disadvantage that the valve arrangement is arranged at the screw connection point of the handle serving as a liquid storage device with a brush head carrying the bristles, the valve seat being designed for a valve closing member mounted in the brush head at the screw end of the brush head, while the band-like return spring elements are attached with their ends to the inside of the handle so that each time the brush is opened the valve parts are exposed and detached from one another. In addition, the effect of the elastic spring bands on the locking member depends on how far the handle is screwed onto the screw end of the brush head. With this valve arrangement and design, there is a risk that the valve will leak, which means that stored cleaning fluid can drip into the hollow brush head and flow out there into the bristle area through unsealable outlet channels.

Because of these non-closable outlet channels, this brush has to be reckoned with continuously flowing cleaning fluid when the brush is placed on the brush head. In addition, in this brush, the plunger is guided through a sleeve, so that when the brush is used, no tilting moment resulting from transverse forces on the plunger can be exerted on the closing member.

The invention has for its object a hand brush of the type mentioned with regard to the safety of Closure of the outlet channel by the closing member and to improve refillability.

The object is achieved according to the invention with the features listed in the characterizing part of the main claim. The closing member and the bending spring loading the closing member are arranged in such a way that they are not changed in their relative position to one another when the storage space of the brush is refilled, and also cannot be released from the valve seat or the spring anchorage. The web or plate-shaped spiral spring is supported with its ends or its edge on the inside of the handle part, which results in a symmetrical loading of the closing member. Since, when using the hand brush, the closing member is generally lifted off during a longitudinal movement of the brush, the closing member projection 21 and thus inevitably also the closing member connected to it are forced into an inclined position when lifting off. Here, a symmetrical support and a correspondingly evenly distributed attack over the entire surface of the closing element of the spiral spring after relieving the closing element ensures a return to a safe closing position, in which the closing element seals the inner opening of the passage channel over its entire circumference. The handle and the bristle holder of the hand brush designed according to the invention always remain in a fixed relative position to one another. Accordingly, the spiral spring supported on the handle always remains in a fixed relative position both to the handle and to the closing member of the valve arrangement covering the passage opening in the bristle carrier. The spiral spring can expediently be designed as a plate spring provided with passage openings.

The part of the closing member protrusion projecting into the bristle area, which strikes a surface to be cleaned when there is increased pressure on the hand brush, can expediently be made of a soft, non-scratchy material, for example a shorter bristle or a shorter bristle tuft, so that the increased pressure on the hand brush while continuing the cleaning process can be exerted without the risk that an object to be cleaned is scratched by the locking member projection.

In a hand brush designed according to the invention, the wall of the handle part can also be at least partially flexible, so that when the increased pressure is exerted on the bristles, pressure is also exerted on the handle part with a tendency to reduce the content of the storage space for the cleaning liquid leads to a squeezing of cleaning fluid through the raised closing member and makes separate ventilation of the storage space unnecessary or facilitates forced ventilation via the liquid outlet channel.

A hand brush designed in accordance with the invention ensures a secure closure of the outlet channel, can be easily refilled and can be inexpensively manufactured from a few individual parts.

An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing.

The hand brush 10, which is designed to be rotationally symmetrical with respect to an axis 11, has a round bristle carrier 12 or 12a which is covered with bristle tufts 13 on its outside and has a central through opening 14 which forms a liquid outlet channel. Adjoining the bristle carrier 12 is a rotationally symmetrical hollow handle part 15, the interior of which forms a reservoir 16 for cleaning liquid, which can be filled in through an upper opening 17 of the handle part 15. The upper opening 17 of the handle part 15 is provided with an internal thread 18 and can be closed by means of a screw cap 19 which is rounded in a convenient manner.

The through opening 14 of the bristle carrier 12 of the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 forming the liquid outlet channel can be closed on the inside of the bristle carrier 12 by a plate-shaped closing member 20 which has a peg-like projection 21 which projects through the through opening 14 to the outside. The peg-shaped projection 21 is made of a soft, non-scratchy material and can have longitudinal grooves. Its part protruding into the region of the bristles 13 is considerably shorter than the length of the bristles 13 in their rest position shown in the drawing. A disk spring 22 bears against the closing member 20 and is supported in its edge area on an inner step 23 of the handle part 15. The plate spring 22 can be designed as a simple spiral spring provided with through openings (not shown) or can be replaced by a spring bar supported with both ends on the inside of the handle part 15.

The length of the protrusion 21 of the closing member 20 protruding into the area of the bristles 13 is selected so that this protrusion does not come into contact with the surface to be cleaned even under normal working pressure and the bristles 13 bending out here. Only by increased pressure on the hand brush by the hand guiding it when working with the brush is the projection 21 acted upon and leads to the opening of the liquid outlet channel 14 by lifting off the closing member 20. The distance between the wall of the passage channel 14 and the projection 21 or Longitudinal grooves of the projection 21 is adapted to the The consistency of the cleaning liquid is chosen so large that cleaning liquid can escape and air can flow in through the opened liquid outlet channel. The wall of the handle part 15 can also be made flexible in places so that when the contact pressure on the hand brush is increased, a contact pressure on the cleaning liquid accommodated in the storage space 16 can be effective, which promotes the outflow of the cleaning liquid. Ventilation of the storage space 16 can, however, also be brought about by a flap valve which is arranged in the screw cap 19 and is not shown and is known per se, which prevents cleaning liquid from flowing out when the hand brush 10 is inclined.
