Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a vehicle supported advertising arrangement comprising a base for advertising pictures, said walls defining a stereometric body of arbitrary shape.
  • the object of the present invention is to realize a vehicle supported advertising arrangement of completely new design which can be used during daytime as well as in darkness and where the advertising pictures particularly in darkness will appear with high and uniform luminance which will expose the advertised goods.
  • This object is realized according to the invention substantially through the fact that at least some of the walls are transparent to permit transillumunation by means of one or several light sources located within the stereometric body and that each of the transparent walls are made of an outer plate of clear plastic and an inner material layer of a light diffusing plastic material, and that the advertising picture consists of a dispositive colour picture to be introduced between the outer plate and the inner material layer.
  • the inner material layer can either be a plate of a white plastic material or the back of the diapositive colour picture.
  • the house shaped body is provided with a roof and substantially rectangular walls, the two opposed long sides of which are concave and transparent.
  • Fig. 1 is a partly sectionated view of an embodiment according to the invention mounted on a lorry
  • Fig.2 is a rear view of the advertising arrangement according to Fig. 1 with the outer plates swung outwardly,
  • Fig.3 is a front view of the advertising arrangement according to Fig. 1,
  • HEP Fig. 4 is a cross section of the transparent walls through the structure of the walls according to Figs. 1-3,
  • Fig. 5 shows an upper and a lower fastening arrangement of the colour slide at the transparent outer plate according to an alternative embodiment of the invention
  • Fig. 6 is a view showing the structure of the walls according to the alternative embodiment in Fig. 5.
  • Fig. 1 shows a partly sectionated view of an advertising arrangement according to the invention which is mounted on a lorry platform 1.
  • the house shaped body has substantially rectangular side walls and its two opposed long sides 3 and 4 are transparent and concave.
  • the walls are mounted in a frame of shaped aluminium rods where the corner pieces 5 have curved shape corresponding to the desired bend of the two concave side walls 3 and 4.
  • the rear.wall 6 (see Fig. 2), however, is entirely plane which means that the two rearwardly bent sections 5 are positioned in the same plane as the rear wall surface.
  • the roof 7 suitably consists of an opaque material with good reflection, properties, for example aluminium, in order to prevent unnecessary light absorption in the ceiling surface.
  • the bent sections 5 serve as lateral stay rods in a framework which comprises the longitudinal roof stay rods 8 and the likewise longitudinal floor stay rods 9.
  • the structure is laterally stayed by the roof 7 and the lateral beams 10 which are connected to the roof.
  • the bent edge sections are connected with lateral floor beams 11.
  • the ent re framework is attached to the chassis of the vehicle by means of vertical beams 12 which are connected to the back of the vehicle cabin (see Fig. 3).
  • Vertical stays 13 in the framework will support horizontal longitudinal beams 14 which serve to support sockets 15 for fluorescent lamps and choke coils for the lamps 17 which are primarily intended to shine through the concave side walls 5.
  • the rear vertical stay rods 13A support lateral horizontal stays 19 which support the fluorescent lamps 18 which should shine th * rough the rear wall 6.
  • the fluoresent lamps are supplied with current in a conventional way through voltage converters with transformer and control means in order to control the l ght intensity of the fluorescent lamps in relation to the external lighting conditions. For service and maintenance work it is possible to get into the house shaped body through an opening in the floor (not shown).
  • the two side walls consist of two plates being positioned against one another in close relationship the inner plate 20 of which is rigidly connected to the longitudinal upper stays 8 and the lower stays 9 and with the bent edge sections 5 as appears from Fig. 1.
  • the outer plates 21 are at their lower edge connected with a pivotal hinge 22 which is connected to the longitudinal lower floor stay rods 9. This makes it possible to swing the outer plates 21 outwardly relative to the inner plates 20 so that a colour picture of the advertisement in question can be inserted between the plates.
  • a stopper 23 is disposed at the upper edge of the outer plates in order to restrict the swinging movement of these plates.
  • the outer plates 21 are clamped in their position against the inner plates 20 by means of conventional resilient clamping members 24.
  • the advantage with the concave shape is on one hand that it creates deepness in the picture and on the other hand it causes more attention than a box with plane walls.
  • each transparent wall element appears in Fig. 4 where the inner plate 20 is made of a diffusing material, for example a white poly-acrylate whereas the outer plate 21 is made of a clear transparent poly-acrylate of a scratch resistant quality.
  • the thickness of the inner plate is suitably about 5 millimeters and of the outer plate about 8 milli ⁇ meters.
  • the colour picture 25 is suitably made of a colour film in several layers on a wear resistant and measure permanent plastic base of a thickness of about 0,18 millimeters.
  • the inner plate 20 can be entirely omitted provided that the colour picture 25 is provided with a white transparent pigment layer 26 which gives sufficient light diffusion when illuminated.
  • neither the outer plate 21 of clear plastic has to be connected at the bottom with pivotal hinges 22 but it can be rigidly connected to the frame in the way shown on Fig. 5 which is a cross-sectional view through the upper roof stay rod 8 and the lower floor stay rod 9.
  • Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view through the upper roof stay rod 8 and the lower floor stay rod 9.
  • the upper and lower edges of the colour film are thus held by U-shaped clamping strips 27 and 29, the upper one being provided with a through hole for receiving a bolt 28 which is connected to the upper edge of the translucent outer plate.
  • the lower longitudinal edge of the colour film is in a similar way held by the clamping strip 29 with which a fastening element 30 in the form of a roller is connected.
  • a similar roller 32 is connected to the outer plate 21 by means of a bolt 33. Between the two rollers 30 and 32 there is an elastic tensile element 31 by means of which the lower longitudinal edge
  • Fig. 6 shows in detail a cross-sectional view through a wall where the outer translucent plate 21 of clear plastic supports the colour film 25 which is coated with a diffusing layer 26 of white plastic.
  • An advertising arrangement according to the invention offers many advantages compared t ⁇ hitherto known devices where the advertising surfaces are painted or provided with advertisement posters which are glued on the substrate. Since it is easy to change the colour film in the advertising arrangement according to the invention the advertisement can be changed several times a day. It is also possible to use the same advertising posters at certain time intervals or to vary the advertising message by changing a minor part of the poster without bearing the costs for a completely new advertising poster. By adapting the layout to such varied advertising it will only be necessary to produce that part of the advertisement which should replace the earlier advertising message. The earlier message can easily be cut away from the poster and the new message can be welded to the film.
