Description

The present invention relates to a method for the maintenance, repair and reinforcement of dry roofs; it also relates to a product for the implementation of said method.

Dry roofs are called building roofs made either of "corrugated iron" (or equivalent) or of ribbed or structurally reinforced profiles generally made of metal. Corrugated sheet or structurally reinforced profiles are deposited in such a way. that the corrugations or the structural reinforcements (or ribbed) are arranged along the slope line of the roof.

We know that these roofs age; it is known that it is possible to protect the materials used against aging by known methods such as, for example, paints. It has recently been proposed to achieve this protection by using a complex formed of an aluminum sheet having corrugations in two perpendicular directions doubled with a layer which adheres to the metallic elements forming the dry roof. The fact that the aluminum sheet has corrugations in two perpendicular directions comes from the fact that the technicians wanted to have a material showing great flexibility in at least two directions. The adhesive layer generally consists of bitumen or a composition based on bitumen.

However, it has been found and this constitutes the present invention, that it could be desirable to carry out the repair and possibly the reinforcement of dry roofs by using a composite material consisting of a corrugated aluminum sheet on one side of which has deposited at least one layer consisting of bitumen or a bitumen-based compound.

Compared to the prior art described above, the complex material used according to the invention is characterized in that that it has a corrugated aluminum sheet in one direction only; that is to say that the complex material used, if it can be wound on itself to give birth to a cylinder whose generatrices are parallel to the corrugations of aluminum, presents in the directions of the corrugations a certain rigidity. We will choose the thickness of the aluminum sheet and the shape of the corrugations of this sheet to have sufficient longitudinal stiffness of material.

The corrugated aluminum sheet may be coated with bitumen on one of its faces or on both of its faces; it will also be possible, either directly on the face of the aluminum sheet not coated with bitumen, or on the surface of the bitumen, to have a decorative material (such as colored mineral granules, flakes of slate on the surface of bitumen or color, or decorative coating on the aluminum surface).

The bitumen layer may be adhesive in itself or be made adhesive by any means (heating for example) during its installation; but it is also possible to fix the composite material on the roof using an adhesive compatible with bitumen.

The layer or layers of bitumen or bitumen-based compound used may include fibers or a fabric which, as known, are often used as a reinforcing element.

The method according to the invention is characterized in that the composite material according to the invention is deposited and bonded by a surface coated with bitumen to the dry structure, taking care that the corrugation lines of the aluminum foil are perpendicular to the slope of the roof (so are horizontal).

This gives both a repair of the dry roof on the one hand and a reinforcement of the said roof on the other.

In the nonlimiting example below, an embodiment of the invention is described. This example refers to the single figure.

This single figure shows a roll of material usable for implementing the method according to the invention. This material comprises in 1 on a corrugated aluminum sheet and in 2 a layer of bitumen (or a mixture of bitumen with at least one additive having a certain tackiness). This figure also shows in 3 the dry roof on which the material is to be glued. It can be seen that the material is unwound so that the corrugations of the aluminum sheet 2 are perpendicular (or substantially perpendicular) to the direction of the corrugations of the dry roof 3.
