Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for eiectropoi Schl the inner surface of pipes with an electrode connected to a DC voltage source, which can be inserted into and removed from the pipe to be electropolished.
- a device for electropolishing the inner surface of U-shaped heat exchanger tubes has already been proposed, in which an electrode connected to a DC voltage source is to be inserted into one end of a heat exchanger tube.
- electrolyte liquid is to be supplied from the other end of the heat exchanger tube.
- the electrode is then to be pulled out of the heat exchanger tube at a constant speed with the DC voltage switched on.
- the entire inner surface of such heat exchanger tubes is to be cleaned and also decontaminated. It is a peculiarity of such a device that it is attached to both ends of a heat exchanger tube, i.e. must be connected in both bottom caps of a heat exchanger at the same time.
- relatively large amounts of electrolyte fluid are required in such a device, if only because of the filling of the entire heat exchanger tube and the relatively long hose lines.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of developing a device for electropolishing the inner surface of pipes, in particular the ends of heat exchanger pipes, the handling of which is as simple as possible and whose electrolyte consumption can also be limited to smaller amounts in accordance with the smaller surfaces to be electropolished.
- a tube-like electrode which can be connected to an electrolyte supply pump and which has a stopper at its front end in the direction of insertion, which has a plug which seals the pipe to be electropolished and is provided with at least one outflow opening in the vicinity of the stopper, the electrolyte liquid is prevented from being present in the entire heat exchanger tube can spread. As a result, the total amount of electrolyte liquid required is greatly reduced. In addition, it also prevents the electrolyte liquid from contaminating those surface sections of the heat exchanger tube to be electropolished that do not have to be electroplated.
- the device only needs to be connected to a single end of a heat exchanger tube. This alone halves the preparation time or set-up time compared to the proposed device.
- the axial displaceability of the electrode on a carrying device at the same time facilitates the setting of the electropolishing depth and also the assembly of the device at the place of use.
- a drainage tube can be passed concentrically through the electrode and through the stopper in a particularly expedient development of the invention. This ensures that excess electrolyte liquid can leak out of the section of the heat exchanger tube located above the pipe plug and that at the same time the attention of the operating personnel is drawn in this way to the leakage of the sealing plug. It is advantageous for the tight fit of the stopper in the tube to be electropolished if the stopper carries a seal which is in contact with the tube to be electropolished.
- the electrode When electropolishing heat exchanger tubes, the electrode is protected from tilting if, in a particularly expedient development of the invention, it is guided on a support device that can be anchored to the tube plate of the heat exchanger. This measure also creates a prerequisite for the operating personnel to be able to move away from the vicinity of the tube sheet during electropolishing.
- the carrying device forms the prerequisite for being able to fasten a leakage collecting container under the tube to be electropolished in an advantageous further development of the invention. This prevents dripping electrolyte liquid from getting into the bottom cap of the heat exchanger.
- the figure shows a section of the tube sheet 1 of a heat exchanger 2, which is not shown in the rest, with the heat exchanger tubes 3, 4, 5, 6 inserted into the bores of the tube sheet 1 and welded there with their ends.
- the weld seams 7, 8, 9, 10 are shown clearly exaggerated.
- the device 11 according to the invention for electropolishing is fastened to the tube sheet (1) by means of three pneumatic clamping fingers 12 (only one shown), each of which is inserted and clamped in a heat exchanger tube 3.
- These pneumatic clamping fingers 12 are attached to a common adapter plate 13.
- This adapter plate has a central opening 14 into which a guide bush 15 is inserted.
- An insulating flange 16 which surrounds the guide bush 15 and is made of an insulating material, is also fastened on the adapter plate 13.
- a holding flange 17 for the electrode 18 is fastened to this insulating flange 16.
- This holding flange 17 has a central bore (19) in which one end of the electrode 18 is guided.
- This electrode 18 comprises a metallically conductive tube piece 20 which is inserted into the heat exchanger tube 5 to be electropolished as far as the latter is to be electropolished.
- the pipe section 20 carries a stopper 21
- This stopper 2 1 consists of two approximately discus-shaped halves 22, 23 made of insulating material.
- a seal 24, an O-ring in the exemplary embodiment, is clamped between them.
- the 0-ring lies against the inside diameter of the heat exchanger tube 5 to be electropolished.
- These two halves 22, 23 of the plug 21 are pierced.
- a drainage pipe 25 is guided through it and carries a tension nut 26 at its end.
- the tube piece has a plurality of small holes 27, 28, 29, 30 at the end facing the stopper 21.
- annular cavity 3 1 Between the tube piece 20 and the inside diameter of the holding flange 17 there is an annular cavity 3 1 .
- An electrolyte return port 32 which is embedded in the holding flange 17 opens into this.
- a further auxiliary flange 33 sits on the holding flange 17, which also has a central bore of smaller diameter, in which the drainage pipe 25 passing through the electrode is guided.
- an electrolyte inlet fitting 35 opens into the auxiliary flange.
- a clamping sleeve 38 with clamping nut 39 is screwed onto the drain pipe. The latter is supported on the clamping plate 37 of the clamping flange 36.
- a return sleeve 4 1 that can be brought into contact with an O-ring 40 on the tube sheet 1 on the circumference of the tube 5 to be electropolished can be seen.
- This return sleeve is guided in the guide bushing 15 in a liquid-tight manner and is pressed against the tube sheet 1 by a compression spring 42 supported on the adapter plate 13 with its tube sheet mouthpiece 43 carrying the O-ring (40). It consists of electrically non-conductive material. It surrounds the pipe section 20 of the electrode at a predetermined distance and opens into the holding flange 17.
- the return sleeve 41 is surrounded by an electrolyte collecting chamber 44 which is concentrically surrounding it and is fastened to the adapter plate 13. This electrolyte collection chamber 44 is connected to an electrolyte drainage connection 45 fastened to the adapter plate.
- the electrolyte return pipe 32, the electrolyte drain pipe 45 and the drain pipe 25 are each connected to an electrolyte reservoir 49 via a hose 46, 47, 48.
- a circulating pump 50 for the electrolyte liquid is connected to this electrolyte reservoir, which is connected to the electrolyte inlet connection 35 via a further hose 51.
- the DC voltage source 52 is also shown schematically with its positive pole connected to the tube sheet 1 and the negative coil connected to the holding flange 17.
- a heat exchanger tube If a heat exchanger tube has leaked due to corrosion at one point, it can be repaired, among other things, by inserting a smaller SLEEVE tube that bridges the damaged section.
- the two ends of the SLEEVE pipe must be connected to the inner wall of the heat exchanger pipe in a liquid-tight manner.
- Another repair measure would be to cut off this heat exchanger tube at its damaged end, to detach it from the tube sheet by grinding the weld seam on the tube sheet, to pull it out of the tube sheet and with a correspondingly long piece of replacement tube, which would have to be welded to both the cut end of the heat exchanger tube and the tube sheet, to replace. In both cases, welding must be carried out and the area of the weld seam must consequently be cleaned.
- the oxide layer on the inner surface of the heat exchanger tube must be removed here before being cut off and cut open.
- the electroplating of the inner surface of the heat exchanger tube is suitable for this. Even if the radiation exposure for performing other work in the vicinity of the tube sheet of a heat exchanger is to be reduced, for example in the subsequent primary chamber of the steam generator, the electropolishing of the ends of one or more heat exchanger tubes in the area of the tube sheet is expedient.
- the device 11 is attached to the same Elektroplieren by inserting the collet fingers 1 2 located on the adapter plate 1 3 in the adjacent heat exchanger tubes 3 and bracing in these heat exchanger tubes on the tube plate. 1
- the adapter plate is pressed immediately before the hydraulic or electromechanical expansion of the clamping fingers 12 so far against the tube sheet 1 that the tube sheet mouthpiece 43 of the return sleeve 41 rests resiliently on the tube sheet 1, namely centrally to the heat exchanger tube 5 to be electropolished.
- the electrode 18 together with the insulation flange 16, retaining flange 17, auxiliary flange 33 and mounting flange 36 may be inserted into the electro-polishing to heat exchanger tube 5 and to be screwed to the adapter plate 1.
- the length of the electrode 18 has already been adapted to the length of the electropolishing tube section. Also, the clamping nuts 26, 39 have already been preloaded so far that the drainage pipe 25 with its clamping nut 26 pulls the two halves 22, 23 of the sealing plug 2 1 against the intermediate seal 24 and the metallically conductive pipe section 20 of the electrode 18.
- the electropolishing can be started by switching on the DC voltage source 52.
- fresh electrolyte is conveyed from the electrolyte storage tank 49 via the electrolyte circulation pump via the electrolyte inlet connection 35, the cavity 34 of the auxiliary flange 33 and from there between the drainage pipe 25 and the pipe section 20 of the electrode 18 up to the stopper 21.
- the fresh electrolyte liquid emerges through the holes 27 to 31 located immediately in front of the plug 21 in the pipe section 20 and now flows back between the pipe section 20 and the wall of the heat exchanger pipe 5 to be electropolished.
- the oxide layer on the inner wall of the heat exchanger tube 5 is removed and the removed particles, together with the downward flowing electrolyte liquid, reach the electrolyte return nozzle and from there the hose 46 into the electrolyte reservoir 49.
- Electrolyte liquid escaping at the O-ring (40) of the tube sheet mouthpiece 43 also runs into the electrolyte collection chamber 44 and via that at the electrolyte collection chamber connected electrolyte drainage pipe back into the electrolyte collecting container 49. From there, it can be pumped again into the electrolyte inlet connection by the circulation pump 50.
- the electropolishing process i.e. After a period of time which is dependent on the layer thickness to be removed and the current intensity switched on, the DC voltage source 52 and the circulation pump 50 are switched off. As soon as the pneumatic clamping fingers 12 are relaxed, the entire electropolishing device 11 can be pulled out of the tube sheet 1 from below and, in the same way, brought back to another heat exchanger tube to be electropolished and locked there.

Abstract
