Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a contact element for connecting loosely guided power supplies to a printed circuit board.
Such an electrical connection is required, for example, in the case of compact fluorescent lamps in which a discharge vessel with its four current leads is connected in an electrically conductive manner to a circuit board holding an electronic ballast and ignition device. The circuit board with the ballast and ignition device is arranged in a housing which also holds the discharge vessel and which is provided with a base for direct connection of the unit to a supply voltage.
During the manufacture of the discharge vessels, in particular during the manufacture of the vessel seal, the individual lamp parts are heated to a processing temperature of more than 500 ° C. In this case, an electrically non-conductive oxide layer forms on the current leads, which is a hindrance when these current leads are soldered to the circuit board holding the ballast and ignition device. So the oxide layer must be removed mechanically before the anyway time-consuming and costly soldering process. Cold solder joints between the thin power supply lines and the printed circuit board often emerged afterwards, which made laborious troubleshooting with corresponding rework necessary.
The object of the invention is to design the contact between the current leads of a discharge vessel and the circuit board to be firmly connected to it in such a way that a secure electrical connection is created, the current leads not having to be brought into a solderable state beforehand.
This object is achieved in a contact element with the features mentioned in the preamble of the main claim in that the contact element is fastened to the circuit board and is provided with at least one opening in which a current supply of the discharge vessel is clamped in a force-locking and contacting manner. The opening is a hole whose diameter is smaller than that of the power supply. Furthermore, the opening and one of the outer edges of the contact element is provided with an incision, preferably with an approximately wedge-shaped shape, which extends approximately up to the bore. As a result, the power supply can be easily inserted and is then clamped in the bore, being scraped free of the oxide layer adhering to it. This type of connection is particularly suitable for the mechanical production of large quantities, as can be expected in the compact lamps described here. Instead of the wedge-shaped, a simple slot-shaped incision can also lead to the bore, in which case the two halves formed above the bore must be bent out of their plane against one another in order to achieve the same advantageous result. In both of the above-described embodiments, the incision can continue underneath the bore in a slot-like manner and open into a second bore. In this way, the clamping effect of the contact element and thus the contact for power supply can be further improved.
On the underside, the contact element is provided with at least one preferably tapering pin-like extension, which is inserted into holes provided in the printed circuit board and fastened there by means of a soldered connection to the conductor tracks present here. The downward tapering design of the soldering lug facilitates insertion into the hole in the printed circuit board provided for this purpose and on the other hand brings about the pre-fixation required for a good soldered connection.

- Figure 2 shows a mounted contact element
The
In Figure 2, the
As is customary in the case of low-pressure discharge lamps with a discharge vessel, there are four power supply lines 12, each power supply line 12 being assigned its
