Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a laminate with improved mechanical properties and improved fire behavior when used as a carrier sheet for roofing and sealing sheets. Such roofing and waterproofing membranes are usually provided with a bitumen layer on one or both sides, but can also have a coating of elastomers or plastomers.
From DE-OS 32 26 041 it is known to refer to a loose, i.e. unconsolidated, mineral fiber fleece to apply a thin layer of also loose plastic fibers and to consolidate this laminate with needles. Heat treatment makes it possible to fuse the plastic fibers with the mineral fibers. This fusing results in stable mineral fiber blanks.
A laminate of a synthetic fiber fleece and a mineral fiber fleece from DE-GM 77 39 489 is known as a carrier web for roofing membranes. The two non-woven layers made of synthetic and mineral fiber material are bonded to one another there by binding or gluing. Thermoplastic and crosslinking thermosets are used for this.
Such carrier sheets lead to roofing and waterproofing sheets with sufficiently high processing stability when bituminizing and laying. Their dimensional stability even allows single-layer installation on the roof. The fire behavior of these roofing membranes according to DIN 4102, part 7, is significantly improved by the mineral fiber layer.
Carrier sheets made of mixed nonwovens made of mineral and synthetic fibers, as described in DE-GM 77 23 547, however, do not result in any noteworthy improvement in fire behavior.
The only disadvantage of the known laminates consisting of a mineral and a synthetic fiber layer remains the tendency to delaminate the two layers under extreme thermomechanical or mechanical conditions.
It is therefore an object of the present invention, while maintaining all the advantages of the known laminates for carrier sheets for roofing and sealing sheets, to overcome this disadvantage.
According to the invention, therefore, the laminate suitable as a carrier sheet for roofing and sealing sheets consists of a pre-consolidated synthetic fiber fleece and a pre-consolidated mineral fiber fleece, which are connected to one another by needling.
The synthetic fiber fleece preferably consists of polyester fibers, usually of polyethylene terephthalate. Filament nonwovens, so-called spunbonds, as are e.g. are described in DE-OS 24 60 755, which in turn are pre-consolidated by needling or other methods known per se. For pre-consolidation by needling, a number of needling stitches of about 10% of the total number of stitches required to connect the two layers of the laminate according to the invention is sufficient. Preferred basis weights of the filament nonwovens are between 50 and 350 g / m ', the individual titers between 3 and 8 dtex, especially between 4 and 6 dtex.
Glass fiber fleeces are preferred as mineral fiber fleece, especially in the form of staple fiber fleeces. Wet-laid staple fiber nonwovens have proven particularly useful. Nonwovens made from ceramic fibers have also proven their worth. The nonwoven weight of the mineral fiber nonwovens is usually between 10 and 100 g / m 2 , preferably between 30 and 60 g / m 2 . Such nonwovens describe, for example, EP-OS 19 465, EP-OS 25 115 or DE-OS 31 43 586. To produce the laminate according to the invention, the two pre-consolidated nonwovens are needled using the known methods. The needling should be 10 to 100 stitches / cm 2 , preferably between 20 and 50 stitches / cm 2 . The needling is carried out in such a way that the needles first pierce the synthetic fiber fleece and then penetrate the mineral fiber fleece underneath. Of course, the stitch depth depends on the fleece thickness. It lies between 6 and 11 mm and leads to a firm, form-fitting connection of the synthetic fiber fleece with the mineral fiber fleece with the aid of the synthetic fibers pulled through the latter.
The accompanying drawing shows a section of the laminate according to the invention. 1 means the mineral fiber fleece, 2 the synthetic fiber fleece.
