Abstract

A closure device for a container is described consisting of a cap for a container and a cap lid which is pivotably mounted on the cap. The cap lid has an encircling circumferential border which projects downwardly from the upper surface of the lid. The border is a curved spherical surface segment and the cap defines a cup-shaped recess which is complementary in shape to facilitate sealing. The center of curvature of the spherical surface segment is located on the pivot axis of the cap lid. A pair of supporting plates are formed on a base portion of the cap and are guided in the pivot plane of the cap lid by parallel guide ribs so that the cap is non-rotatably mounted and pivotably mounted reliably in the recess and is sealed in every operating position relative to the container cap.

Closure devices of the aforementioned known type are either screwed onto the spout or the neck of the container by means of a screw thread or connected to the container neck by means of a snap lock, with catch cams engaging under corresponding projections on the outside of the neck of the container so that the closure device sits tightly on the container . The flowable material which can be dispensed with the aid of such closure devices can consist of liquids or small granular or spherical particles, such as, for. As liquids for personal care, pills containing pharmaceutical active ingredients, granular, dried or liquid spices or foods, such as. B. Ketchup. In the case of liquid goods in particular, it must be avoided that the liquid goods come into contact with foreign substances from the outside and become contaminated before they are used. Such closure devices must therefore ensure a secure sealing of the container contents to the outside with a pleasing appearance. Furthermore, such closure devices are mass-produced articles, the economical manufacture of which must be ensured.

From US Patent 3,516,581 (Micallef) a closure device is known which consists of a rocker arm which is pivotably mounted in an upper recess of a cap at a distance above the cover plate of the cap. The lateral outlet opening in this lever is connected via a channel extending partially in this lever in the open position of the rocker arm to a tubular outlet nozzle which projects from the cover plate of the cap and forms the passage for the contents of the container. This outlet port is closed by a sealing cap with a plug arranged in it on the underside of the rocker arm in its closed position. The rocker arm is provided with rounded projections on the sides which engage in corresponding lateral recesses in the parallel opposite side walls of the recess and form the pivot axis for the rocker arm. The lever arm for actuating the rocker arm by exerting a downward pressure by means of the operator's finger is shorter than the other lever arm of the rocker arm associated with the outlet opening, so that the forces to be exerted on the rocker arm are unnecessarily high. Furthermore, it is not ensured that impurities can get into the recess in the cap under the lever-like closure and, as a result, come into contact with the contents of the container in the open position of the closure and possibly even into the container itself and / or hinder the unimpeded actuation of the closure. Finally, the shape of the closure is extremely complicated, so that there are relatively high tool costs for the production of the closure. Another disadvantage of this known closure is that the pretension for sealing the outlet opening in the closed position of the closure can only be achieved in that the distance of the outlet opening from the vertical central axis of the sealing cap provided on the underside of the lever-like closure for the outlet nozzle is somewhat larger is dimensioned as the distance of this central axis from the inner wall of the recess in the cap opposite the outlet opening in the closed position. As a result, tensioning of the lever-like closure occurs in the closed position between the inner wall of the recess in the region of the outlet opening of the lever-like closure and the outlet connection via the sealing cap on the underside of the closure, which leads to increased friction between the closure and the associated parts of the cap and thus considerably more difficult to pivot the lever-like closure into the open position.

From US-A-3 734 359 a closure cap for bottles for the controlled dispensing of liquids is known, which consists of two parts molded from plastic, one of which is tightly attached to the bottle and the other one pivotably arranged in the cap Forms lid, which can be snapped into the closed or open position by finger pressure on the rear part of the lid. An opening in the cap communicates with an outlet opening in the lid when it is in the open position. The connection is broken when the lid is closed. The cover is provided on the underside with support and pivoting means, by means of which the cap cover cannot be rotated about the central longitudinal axis of the closure device, but pivots about an axis perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis is cash. This is achieved structurally in that the cap sitting on the bottle has a recess in the top thereof for receiving the cap lid. A pair of mutually opposed vertical wall portions in the recess of the cap have U-shaped bearing surfaces and arcuate ribs, the center of curvature of which is the axis of the U-shaped bearing surface. Arc-shaped segments in connection with the bearing surfaces form the pivoting device for pivotally receiving and holding within the recess of the cap when the closure member is inserted into the cap. The closure member has a downwardly extending central part with a pair of arcuate bearing parts which are formed on opposite sides and a pair of axial stub shafts. If the closure member is inserted into the cap by exerting a vertical force in the cap, the rounded lower edges of the arcuate bearing members engage in the rounded inner edges of the arcuate ribs of the cap and press the vertical wall parts of the cap elastically outwards and come to the lower Edges of the arcuate ribs to the system, which hold the closure member securely pivoted, the stub shafts sitting firmly in the bearing approaches of the cap.

In contrast, the invention has for its object to improve a closure device of the aforementioned type in such a way that the closure member securely prevents the ingress of contaminants into the space between the closure member and the cap in any operating position of the closure member and easy actuation of the closure member at all times secure sealing of the outlet opening is ensured in the closed position. In addition, the construction of the closure device should be as simple as possible, be able to be produced with the least possible amount of material and have a pleasing appearance. After all, the locking device should always be reliable.

The invention solves this problem by combining the features that the cap cover has a circumferential edge on its circumference, which projects downward and protrudes into the open recess of the cap, that the outer surface of the edge of the cap cover has the shape of a disk-shaped central spherical surface section, whose center of curvature is halfway up the disc-shaped spherical surface section on the pivot axis of the cap lid, that the lateral outlet opening is located directly below the underside of the cap lid, essentially in the upper half of the height of the lid rim, that the circumferential lid rim is elastic in the radial direction, that the cap wall at the upper edge of the recess is provided with a circumferential inner recess which is essentially dome-shaped and corresponding to the lid edge, so that the edge of the cap lid is in the corresponding dome-shaped recess d he cap wall is inserted with a snap fit under radial preload and is pivotally guided.

In the figures, closure devices are illustrated which, as is known per se, can be screwed or placed onto the neck of a container (not shown) surrounding the opening by means of a thread or by means of a latching device, which preferably consist of plastic, but also of glass or metal can. The container contains a flowable material, such as. B. liquid, cream-like, granulated, powder-like or similar substances that are used at the table, in the household or for cosmetic or industrial purposes.

Daneben besteht natürlich die Möglichkeit, bei aus Kunststoff hergestellten Behältern gegebenenfalls die Verschlußkappe ganzteilig mit dem Behälter aus Kunststoff gleichzeitig herzustellen oder die Verschlußkappe in anderer Weise mit dem Behälter fest zu verbinden.1 and 2, a closure device 10 is shown, the closure cap 11 is provided with a coaxial fastening socket 12, which can be screwed tightly with an internal thread 13 onto a corresponding external thread on the container neck. In addition, there is of course the possibility, in the case of containers made of plastic, to produce the closure cap in one piece with the plastic container at the same time, or to firmly connect the closure cap to the container in another way.

The closure cap 11 has a cover plate 14 which lies tightly on the opening of the neck of the container. The cover plate 14 has in its center a passage opening 15, through the center of which the main axis x of the closure device extends and through which the container contents can pass into a recess 16 in the closure cap 11 lying above the cover plate 14. The cap wall 18, which extends from the cover plate 14 to the upper edge 17 of the recess 16, has an inner undercut recess 26 which is concavely curved in the shape of a spherical cap and which thus corresponds to the central disc-shaped cutout of a spherical surface, whose axis of symmetry is the main axis x of the closure device.

In this recess 26, which is in the form of a spherical surface, of the recess 16, a cap cover 19 is inserted in the region of its upper edge 17 and is provided with a circumferential cover edge 20 which extends into the recess.

The outer surface 20a of the lid edge 20 of the cap cover 19 corresponds to the shape of a disk-shaped, central spherical surface section, the center of curvature 21 of which is approximately half the height of the disk-shaped spherical surface section on a pivot axis y of the cap cover 19 and whose radius of curvature corresponds approximately to that of the spherical cutout 26.

In the lid edge 20 there is a lateral outlet opening 22 directly below the underside of the cap cover 19 substantially in the upper half of the height of the lid edge 20. This ensures that the cap cover is also in its open position, not shown, in which the outlet opening 22 is above the upper edge 17 of the cap 11 is completely sealed against the upper edge 17, so that dust or other dirt particles have no possibility to penetrate between the cap lid 19 and the cap 11 into the recess 16. The all-round tight contact of the outer surface of the lid edge 20 in the concave recess 26 of the recess 16 also ensures that dirt particles, which should have attached to the outer surface 20a of its edge 20 in the open position of the cap lid, in the region of the upper edge 17 of the recess 16 are stripped again when the cap lid 19 is closed. A major contributor to this is that the circumferential lid edge 20 is designed to be elastic in the radial direction and rests with radial prestress on the inner wall 18 of the recess 16 of the container cap, while the cap wall 18 surrounding the recess 16 is essentially rigid. This elastic prestressing of the lid edge 20 with respect to the recess 26 of the recess 16 therefore achieves a secure sealing of the same with respect to the recess 26 extending over the entire circumference of the lid edge 20. Since an undercut inevitably results from the spherical cap-shaped recess 26 of the inner wall 18 of the recess 16, the captive nature of the cap lid 19 inserted into the container cap is ensured while at the same time ensuring its pivotability and its sealing with respect to the container cap. The frictional resistance between the cap lid and the container cap is essentially always the same, so that irritations due to changing frictional resistance are excluded for the user.

In order to ensure the pivotable guidance of the cap cover 19 in the spherical cap-shaped inner wall of the recess 16, support and pivoting means are attached to the underside of the cap cover 19, by means of which the cap cover cannot be rotated in the closure cap 11 relative to the bottom of the recess 16 formed by the cover plate 14, but is pivotally supported. In the embodiment in FIGS. 1 and 2, these support and pivoting means consist of a pair of support cheeks 23a, 23b, which extend parallel to the pivoting plane of the cap cover 19 at a distance from one another and are supported on the bottom of the recess 16 formed by the cover plate 14.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the free ends 23c of the support cheeks 23a, 23b resting on the cover plate 14 are staggered in a circular arc. The center of curvature of the circular free ends 23c of the support cheeks 23a, 23b lies on the pivot axis y of the cap cover 19, the support point between the arcuate end 23c of the support cheeks 23a, 23b on the flat top of the cover plate 14 in each position of the cap cover 19 on the middle Cross-sectional plane of the closure device lies, which is indicated in Fig. 2 by the section line II. It can also be seen from FIG. 2 that the support cheeks 23a, 23b extend with a larger part 23d from the underside of the side of the cap cover which is used to actuate the cap cover, thus facing away from the outlet opening 22, in the direction of the cover plate 14, but also with a smaller one Part 23e are connected to the underside of the cap cover 19 facing the outlet opening 22. Therefore, the support cheeks 23a, 23b intersect the cross-sectional plane extending through the pivot axis y of the cap cover 19 at right angles. At the same time, it can be seen that the top of the cap cover 19 and the lower edge of the circumferential, downward-facing cover edge 20 lie in planes which are arranged symmetrically to the pivot axis y, i.e. run at equal distances from each other parallel to each other.

In order to ensure alignment of the cap cover 19 in its pivoting plane, that is to say the non-rotatability of the cap cover, guide means are provided for the support cheeks 23a, 23b of the cap cover 19. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, these guide means consist of a pair of guide ribs 24a, 24b, which is arranged parallel to the pivoting plane of the cap cover 19. One of the two guide ribs 24a, 24b is arranged close to one of the mutually opposite inner sides of the two support cheeks 23a, 23b. This arrangement of the inner surfaces of the support cheeks 23a, 23b on the outer surfaces of the guide ribs 24a, 24b thus ensures a sliding guidance of the support cheeks and thus of the cap cover 19 in the pivoting plane thereof, which ensures an arbitrary or involuntary rotation of the cap cover while the closure device is in use prevented. As a result, the pouring spout remains tion for the flowable material of the container always received, which can be recognized by suitable labels on the cap lid 19 for the operator.

It can be seen that the support cheeks 23a, 23b and the guide ribs 24a, 24b are arranged on diametrically opposite sides of the passage opening 15. The main surfaces of the guide ribs 24a, 24b, which extend parallel to the pivoting plane of the cap cover 19, are trapezoidal, as shown in FIG. 2, and are narrower in the direction of the cap cover 19, the side of the guide ribs forming the smaller angle with the cover plate 14 being on the the actuation of the cap cover 19 serving side of the cover plate 14 of the recess 16. Due to the fact that a substantial part of the cross section of the recess 16 in the plane of the guide ribs 24a, 24b is filled by them themselves and a further part of the cross section of the recess by the support cheeks 23a, 23b in the area of their planes, the guide ribs and support cheeks form a guiding channel , by which an effective deflection of the flowable material entering through the passage opening 15 from the container into the recess 16 to the outlet opening 22 is achieved.

FIG. 1 shows that the flat cover plate extends from the outer surfaces of the guide ribs 24a, 24b extends on sections 14a, 14b over a width up to the transition region to the spherical surface-shaped inner wall, which corresponds approximately to the width of the support cheeks 23a, 23b. As a result, the outer surfaces of the guide ribs 24a, 24b with the opposite spherical surface-shaped inner wall of the recess 16 form a groove-like guide tapering towards the point of support cheeks 23a, 23b on the cover plate 14, as shown in FIG. 1, which shows a lateral deflection of the support cheeks when exercising greater pressure on the cap lid 19 prevented. As a result, it is ensured that, even taking into account the spherical / sheet-like cross section of the inner wall for the cap cover 19, the exertion of large actuating forces on the cap cover 19 cannot impair the correct position and safe function of the cap cover.

In the recess 16 of the closure cap 11, a rib-shaped stop 25 for the lower edge of the lid edge 20 below the outlet opening 22 is further provided in the region of the side facing the outlet opening 22 when the cap lid 19 is in the closed position shown in FIG. 2.

The opening position of the cap lid 19, which is not shown in the drawings, is limited by the longer narrow side 24c of the trapezoidal support jaws associated with the actuating side of the cap lid 19, against which the lower edge of the lid edge 20 rests in the open position in such a way that the outlet opening 22 coincides with it its lower edge is just above the upper edge 17 of the cap 11.

This upper edge 17 of the closure cap 11 extends over approximately 180 ° on the side of the cap cover facing the outlet opening 22 at the same height and is cut out to one level up to the upper edge designated 17a on the rear side of the cap cover which serves to operate the cap cover , which is slightly larger than the height of the free cross section of the outlet opening 22. This also gives a certain limit to the pivotability of the cap cover when it is actuated while at the same time maintaining the seal between the cap cover and the spherical inner wall of the closure cap.

It can be seen that this first embodiment, shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, of a two-part closure device made of plastic is extremely simple in terms of construction and consequently requires only a minimal outlay on tool costs with the least possible use of material and, with a pleasing appearance, a complete sealing of the contact surfaces between the cap lid 19 and the cap 11 allows for easy operability of the cap lid.

This closure device corresponds in terms of essential features of the invention to the first embodiment, so that the differences are mainly dealt with below to avoid repetitions. The closure device 100 consists of a closure cap 102, the inner wall of which is provided with longitudinal ribs 130 which, together with latching projections 131 arranged at a distance below it and at angular intervals from one another, enable the closure cap to be pressed onto the neck surrounding the opening of the container (not shown). In deviation from the illustrated embodiment, a screw connection between the closure cap and the container neck can naturally also be provided here, as in the embodiment in FIGS. 1 and 2. For the upper end of the neck of the container, an annular groove 129 is provided in the closure cap 102, which is formed by the inner wall of the closure cap and by a cover plate 120 projecting downwards and sealingly engages as a plug 128 in the opening of the container.

In the cover plate 120 there is a passage opening 119, above which a tubular outlet connection 103 for the flowable material extends in the container, the outlet connection 103 having an upper outlet opening 121 is provided.

At the upper end of the cap 102 there is a recess 109, the bottom of which is formed by the cover plate 120. The recess 109 is closed at its upper end by a cap cover 104. The cap cover is provided on its outer circumference with a cover edge 118 projecting into the recess 109, the outer surface 106 of which, as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, is convexly curved according to a central disk-shaped spherical surface cutout and in a concave inner recess 107 corresponding to this convex curvature is tightly guided in the inner wall of the cap 102. The radius of the convex circumferential outer surface 106 corresponds approximately to its distance from an imaginary pivot axis 108 of the cap cover 104. The curved outer surface 106 or the corresponding recess 107 correspond to a cap in the case of a cap cover 104 which is round in plan view. The pivot axis 108 thus extends at right angles to the longitudinal axis of a lateral outlet opening 105 in the edge 118 of the cap cover 104 and extends around two diametrically opposite, parallel support cheeks 113, 114. These support cheeks 113, 114 are vertically downward from the underside of the cap cover 104 and at a distance parallel to each other and are pivotally supported with their arcuate ends 115 in a correspondingly shaped recess 116 in the top of guide ribs 144a, 144b, which are symmetrical to the main longitudinal axis of the closure device from the cover plate 120 at a distance from the inner wall 117 of the recess 109 upright. The radius of the circular-arc-shaped depressions 116 and the lower circular-arc-shaped ends 115 of the support cheeks 113, 114 corresponds approximately to the distance that they occupy the pivot axis 108.

On the underside of the cap cover 104 there is a sealing cap 122 which sealingly engages over the upper outlet opening 121 of the tubular outlet connector 103 when the cap cover 104 is in the closed position shown in FIGS. 3 and 5. The underside of the cap lid 104 is concentric within the sealing cap 122 and at a radial distance therefrom with a stopper 123 which tightly engages in the opening 121 of the outlet connector 103, while the outlet connector with its edge surrounding the outlet opening 121 into one of the sealing cap 122 and engages the plug 123 formed annular groove 124. The annular groove 124 is surrounded by a cap jacket 125 which tightly engages over the outlet connection 103. The cap jacket 125 is connected to the outlet opening 105 in the lid edge 118 via a radial overflow opening 126 and an adjoining radial overflow channel 127 on the underside of the cap cover plate 104. The overflow opening 126 is closed in the closed position of the cap cover 104 by the outlet connector 103 which engages in the annular groove 124 between the stopper 123 and the cap jacket 125. In the open position of the cap cover 104, the outlet connection opens the overflow opening 126 for connection to the outlet connection 103 and the interior of the container.

Den Anschlag für den Kappendeckel 104 in seiner Schließstellung bildet, wie Fig. 3 zeigt, die obere Stirnseite der Austrittsöffnung 121 des Austrittsstutzens 103.A stop rib 111 protrudes from the cover plate 120 and the inner wall 110 on the side opposite the outlet opening 105 into the recess 109 and is provided with a protruding nose 112 at its inner end, so that, as FIGS. 3 and 4 show, a transverse groove is formed as a support for the lower edge of the lid edge 118 when the cap lid 104 is in the open position shown in FIG. 4. The stop for the cap cover 104 in its closed position, as shown in FIG. 3, forms the upper end face of the outlet opening 121 of the outlet connector 103.

The top of the cap lid 104 used for actuation is provided with a recess 132 for the finger of an operator in order to press the cap lid 104 down and to pivot it into the open position shown in FIG. 4. During this pivoting movement, the cap cover 104 is guided correctly in the spherical recess 107 in the inner wall 117 of the recess 109 and is centered relative to the pivot axis 108 by the circular bearing surfaces of the ends 115 or recesses 116 and is secured against rotation about the vertical main axis of the closure device. In this open position, the outlet opening 121 of the outlet port 103 is released, so that, for. B. by exerting pressure on the elastic walls of the plastic container, the container contents through the outlet port 103, the overflow opening 126, the overflow channel 127 can emerge from the outlet opening 105, the lower edge of which closes with the upper edge of the cap edge. As can be seen, the cap cover 104 seals tightly against the spherical cap-shaped recess 107 of the inner wall 117 of the closure cap 102 even in the open state, so that the cap cover 104 is also protected against the ingress of contaminants from the outside during the subsequent pivoting movement into the closed position. This securing is ensured on the entire circumference of the cap cover in relation to the inner wall of the closure cap 102 in every operating position.

It can be seen that the wall of the two-part plastic closure cap 102 is also cut deeper here on the side opposite the outlet opening 105. In fact, the upper edge of the closure cap 102 on the side of the pivot axis 108 opposite the outlet opening 105 is chamfered at an acute angle to the horizontal, so that, as the figures show, the circumference in both the open and the closed positions of the cap cover 104 Surface 106 of the same is always sealingly engaged with the inner wall of the cap, but pressing down this side of the cap lid 104 is facilitated. It can also be seen that the container cap is flush with the upper edge of the upper edge of the recess 109 in the closed position at the same height. In this second embodiment of the closure device as well, the lid edge 118 lies in an evenly sealing manner on its entire circumferential surface in every pivoted position with elastic radial bracing in the concave, undercut inner wall 117. The frictional resistance that must be overcome to actuate the cap cover is therefore essentially always the same.
