Description

The present invention relates to a sheet dispenser for dispensing the lowest sheet of a stack of sheets.

Distributors of sheets or sheets are generally known comprising an open box in its upper part by which a sheet can be taken. Some of these dispensers are provided with an elastic element arranged at the bottom of the box and urging the sheets upwards against retaining elements. Such a dispenser is described in Swiss patent 593,830. These dispensers have the disadvantage that it is very inconvenient to write on the top sheet as the hand is generally not supported.

There are also automatic sheet feeders for printers or other printing machines, in which the lowest sheet of a stack of sheets is separated by suction from the rest of the stack by means of suction devices (see Swiss patent 569,651). This sheet is then taken up by a transport mechanism to bring it to the printing position. These distributors, however, have a complicated and expensive construction and can therefore not be used for the distribution of sheets or sheets for household use, such as telephone sheets.

It is the object of the present invention to create a sheet dispenser of a simple and inexpensive construction and allowing easy note taking. The dispenser comprises, for this purpose, a carriage slidably mounted on a support, this carriage comprising vertical walls arranged so as to contain the stack of sheets, the lowest sheet of which is in contact with the support, the dispenser comprising guide means for guiding the movement of the carriage on the support from a first stop position to a second stop position, the support comprising a retaining element intended to retain the lowest sheet in this second position so separating the stack of sheets from the lowest sheet by offset when the carriage is moved from said second position to the first position.

Thanks to a movement of the carriage back and forth, the lowest sheet of the stack is therefore easily separated by an uncomplicated mechanism. As the separate sheet is in contact with the support, taking notes is easy.

The invention is set out below in more detail with the aid of drawings showing, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective representation of the dispenser.
  • Figure 2 is a top plan view.
  • Figure 3 shows a side view in partial section, the different parts of the dispenser being separated for clarity.

The dispenser is composed of a support 1, a carriage 2 and a cover 3. The carriage 2 comprises four vertical walls 4 arranged so as to surround a stack of sheets 5 of paper. This carriage 2 is slidably mounted on the support 1 by means of ball bearings 6 and does not have a bottom so that the sheets 5 rest directly on the upper face of the support 1.

This supoort is constituted by a plate 7 having two parallel lateral faces 7b each provided with a groove 6a for a ball bearing. The side walls 4a of the carriage have extensions 9 located opposite the two side faces 7b of the support. Each extension 9 comprises two grooves 6b in which balls 8 are engaged, thus constituting with grooves 6a four grooved ball bearings.

The support plate 7 has an upper surface 7a with a slightly raised portion 9 forming on its front part a step 9a with a sharp angle. The height of this step 9a is substantially equal to the thickness of the sheets 5 used, that is to say - say a tenth of a millimeter. The front wall 4b has a lower edge 10 not touching the upper surface 7a of the support. A gap wider than the thickness of a sheet, but narrower than that of two sheets, separates this edge 10 from the surface 7a. The rear wall 4c has a lower edge comprising two lateral portions 11 placed flush with the surface 7a and a higher middle portion 12 surrounding the raised portion 9 of the plate 7.

The carriage 2 can be moved from a first stop position A, as illustrated in FIG. 3, where the sheets rest on the raised portion 9, towards a second stop position B in which the lowest sheet rests entirely on the surface 7a of the support and is applied to it by the weight of the stack of sheets 5 and of the cover 3. When the carriage 2 is pushed back from position B to position A, the lowest sheet abuts by its edge against the step 9a and is therefore retained in position B. This sheet therefore passes under the lower edge 10 of the front wall 4b of the carriage, while the other sheets are pushed towards the stop position A. The sheet which has just been separated and which rests on the surface 7a always remains partially engaged under the stack of sheets located in position A so as to be held on the support 7. The surface of this sheet in position B which is found engaged under the stack in position A is less than quarter of its surface. The support plate 7 thus constitutes a writing support for the sheet maintained in position B, which allows easy taking of notes without the sheet having to be held by the other hand of the user. They can, for example, hold a telephone receiver in one hand and take notes with the other hand.

The carriage 2 and the support 1 are preferably made of plastic. The upper surface 7a of the plate 7 advantageously has a low roughness increasing the adhesion of the lowest sheet on this surface. On the contrary, the surface of the raised part 9 is entirely smooth to allow easy sliding of the stack of sheets.

Anti-slip pads 13 made of elastomer are fixed on the underside of the plate 7 to prevent the latter from sliding relative to the base on which the dispenser is placed. Lateral notches 14 provided on the lateral edges of the plate 7 make it easier to grasp the separate sheet of the stack.

The cover 3 has an outer contour 15 substantially identical to that of the sheets and presses the latter against the upper face of the support 7. This cover 3 is advantageously provided with a handle 16 having blind holes 17 in which pencils or pens can be introduced. This cover 3 could also carry lockers for the storage of other office items.

It is understood that the embodiment described has no limiting character and that it can receive any desirable modifications without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, the ball bearings could be replaced by a slide guide. The dispenser could also be adapted for use with printers. The movement of the carriage back and forth could then be controlled by a motor.
