Definitions
- the invention relates to a profile strip made of plastic provided with reinforcing additives in the form of fibers, in particular for the production of window frames, with a plurality of outer and stiffening walls which extend along the profile and form hollow chambers, and a method for producing such a plastic profile strip.
- German utility model 8 202 221 to improve the mechanical strength and rigidity of plastic profile strips by adding glass fibers to the plastic material from which the profile strip is produced by extrusion.
- Such an admixture of glass fibers improves the rigidity of the plastic profile strips considerably, but it has significant disadvantages: the addition of reinforcing additives significantly reduces the cold impact strength, so hollow profile strips with a relatively high proportion of reinforcing additives such as glass fibers are - especially with Cold - not sufficiently resistant to mechanical stress.
- the cold impact strength can be improved again by adding so-called modifiers, such modifiers make the product to be manufactured considerably more expensive. They further reduce the modulus of elasticity, so that the heat is insufficient in shape stability, they also deteriorate the weldability of the plastic, which is essential for the production of corner joints, and finally these modifiers also reduce the effect of the reinforcing additives.
- the core profile consisting of a polyvinyl chloride with more than about 30% by weight of glass fibers and a sheathing made of an impact resistance of the core profile which is compatible with the PVC superior plastic is connected.
- the invention is therefore based on the object, the initially mentioned profile strip, the strength of which is sufficiently good through the use of plastic provided with reinforcing additives, in such a way that sufficient resistance to cold impact is achieved and that the weldability of the plastic, which is impaired by the additives, is not disadvantageous affects.
- this object is achieved in that up to 20% by weight of glass fibers or up to 40% by weight of glass-free fiber material such as carbon, plastic or ceramic fibers is added to the plastic forming the outer and stiffening walls, and that at least those in one go claimed (s) and / or the hollow chamber (s) bounded by the outer wall forming the outside of the window frame is (are) completely filled with a plastic body made of a plastic which has essentially no reinforcing additives.
- thermoplastics come into consideration as plastic for the outer and stiffening walls, but especially polyvinyl chloride.
- the point which the outer and Versteifungswandungen plastic forming accompanying glass fibers preferably have a diameter 2-25 1 1m and a staple length mm up to 15 °.
- the plastic body or bodies filling the hollow chamber or hollow chambers consist of a foam plastic.
- the base material of the plastic filling the hollow chamber or cavities can correspond to the base material of the plastic forming the outer and stiffening walls.
- An embodiment has proven particularly useful in which the wall thickness of the outer walls is between 0.2 to 10.0 mm, preferably between 2.0 and 4.0 mm, and the depth of the hollow chamber delimited by the latter and filled with the plastic body is up to 15 mm is.
- the plastic body (s) filling the hollow chamber or cavities are preferably used together extruded the outer and stiffening walls. Such a coextrusion brings about a particularly good connection of the plastic body to the outer or stiffening walls delimiting the hollow chamber.
- Figure 1 shows the profile strip with a plurality of outer walls 10, 12 and stiffening walls 14.
- the outer and stiffening walls 10, 12, 14 form a plurality of hollow chambers 18.
- the cavity 16, which is delimited by the outer wall 10 forming the outside of the window frame, is completely filled with a plastic body 16. While the material of the outer wall 10, 12 - like the material of the stiffening walls 14 - with a reinforcing addition of up to 20% by weight of glass fibers or up to 40% by weight of a glass-free fiber material such as carbon, plastic or ceramic fibers consists, the plastic body 16 consists of a plastic which has essentially no reinforcing additives.
- the profile strip according to the invention has sufficient inherent stability, to which the plastic body 16 contributes only insignificantly.
- the plastic body 16 has the function of increasing the cold impact strength of the outer wall 10: namely, when the outer wall 10 is subjected to mechanical stress, the impact energy that impinges on it is absorbed by the plastic body 16, which, despite the relatively high brittleness of the material, results in a high crack resistance of the outer wall 10 .
- the geometric relationships between the outer wall 10 and the plastic body 12 must be chosen correctly.
- the goal according to the invention is naturally promoted by a large thickness of the plastic body 16, on the other hand, this has cost disadvantages. It has been shown that with a thickness of 2.0 to 4.0 mm of the outer wall, the thickness of the plastic body 16 need not exceed 15 mm.
- Figure 2 differs from that of Figure 1 only in that a film 20 or a colored or transparent lacquer layer is applied to the outside of the outer wall 10.
- This plastic film or lacquer layer 20 protects the outer wall 10 from the damaging influence of light rays and thus makes it possible to dispense with the addition of special pigments in the plastic material.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a profile strip made of plastic provided with reinforcing additives in the form of fibers, in particular for the production of window frames, with a plurality of outer and stiffening walls which extend along the profile and form hollow chambers, and a method for producing such a plastic profile strip.
Hollow profiles for the production of window and door frames made of plastic have long been known.
The problem with such hollow profiles is that the stability is not sufficient, especially with large window or door openings, and with increased heat absorption (use of dark-colored profiles or use in warmer climates), functional problems may arise due to length expansion and a sharp drop in the elasticity module. Initially, attempts were made to stiffen the hollow profile by introducing wooden, steel or aluminum struts. However, it has been shown that such reinforcing struts make the manufacture and further processing of profile strips more difficult and expensive and are therefore uneconomical.
Es ist weiter versucht worden, die Festigkeit derartiger Profilleisten durch Füllungen mit Kunststoff zu versteifen (DE-PS-1 086 032, DE-OS-2 827 851, DE-OS-2 326 911, EU-OS-0 053 662). Weiter ist es bekannt, kunstharzgebundene Glasfaserbänder in oder auf die Außenwände von Profilleisten aus Kunststoff aufzubringen (DE-GM-8 111 425).Attempts have also been made to stiffen the strength of such profiled strips by means of fillings with plastic (DE-PS-1 086 032, DE-OS-2 827 851, DE-OS-2 326 911, EU-OS-0 053 662). It is also known to apply synthetic resin-bonded glass fiber tapes in or on the outer walls of plastic profile strips (DE-GM-8 111 425).
Finally, it is known from German utility model 8 202 221 to improve the mechanical strength and rigidity of plastic profile strips by adding glass fibers to the plastic material from which the profile strip is produced by extrusion. Such an admixture of glass fibers improves the rigidity of the plastic profile strips considerably, but it has significant disadvantages: the addition of reinforcing additives significantly reduces the cold impact strength, so hollow profile strips with a relatively high proportion of reinforcing additives such as glass fibers are - especially with Cold - not sufficiently resistant to mechanical stress. Although the cold impact strength can be improved again by adding so-called modifiers, such modifiers make the product to be manufactured considerably more expensive. They further reduce the modulus of elasticity, so that the heat is insufficient in shape stability, they also deteriorate the weldability of the plastic, which is essential for the production of corner joints, and finally these modifiers also reduce the effect of the reinforcing additives.
In the last-mentioned utility model specification, it is therefore proposed to build up the profile strip in two layers in order to overcome the disadvantages mentioned, the core profile consisting of a polyvinyl chloride with more than about 30% by weight of glass fibers and a sheathing made of an impact resistance of the core profile which is compatible with the PVC superior plastic is connected.
It is understood that such a two-layer structure of a profile strip requires a complex manufacturing process. Another disadvantage is that the core profiles, which have a high proportion of glass fibers, are difficult to weld together.
The invention is therefore based on the object, the initially mentioned profile strip, the strength of which is sufficiently good through the use of plastic provided with reinforcing additives, in such a way that sufficient resistance to cold impact is achieved and that the weldability of the plastic, which is impaired by the additives, is not disadvantageous affects.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that up to 20% by weight of glass fibers or up to 40% by weight of glass-free fiber material such as carbon, plastic or ceramic fibers is added to the plastic forming the outer and stiffening walls, and that at least those in one go claimed (s) and / or the hollow chamber (s) bounded by the outer wall forming the outside of the window frame is (are) completely filled with a plastic body made of a plastic which has essentially no reinforcing additives.
Various thermoplastics come into consideration as plastic for the outer and stiffening walls, but especially polyvinyl chloride. The point which the outer and Versteifungswandungen plastic forming accompanying glass fibers preferably have a diameter 2-25 1 1m and a staple length mm up to 15 °.
It is preferably provided that the plastic body or bodies filling the hollow chamber or hollow chambers consist of a foam plastic. The base material of the plastic filling the hollow chamber or cavities can correspond to the base material of the plastic forming the outer and stiffening walls.
An embodiment has proven particularly useful in which the wall thickness of the outer walls is between 0.2 to 10.0 mm, preferably between 2.0 and 4.0 mm, and the depth of the hollow chamber delimited by the latter and filled with the plastic body is up to 15 mm is.
Versteifungswandungen. In the production of the plastic profile according to the invention, the plastic body (s) filling the hollow chamber or cavities are preferably used together extruded the outer and stiffening walls. Such a coextrusion brings about a particularly good connection of the plastic body to the outer or stiffening walls delimiting the hollow chamber.
The production of a corner connection between plastic profiles designed according to the invention is made possible by welding, in particular, the plastic body filling the hollow chamber or hollow chambers. Alternatively, however, it is also possible to mill the plastic body, to insert perforated sheet metal angles into the millings and then to glue the millings with polyurethane foam using suitable clinkers, in particular by means of foaming.
Dabei zeigt:
- Fig. 1 die erfindungsgemäße Profilleiste in einem ersten Ausführungsbeispiel;
- Figure 1 shows the profile strip according to the invention in a first embodiment.
- Fig. 2 shows the profile strip according to the invention according to a second embodiment.
Figure 1 shows the profile strip with a plurality of
It is understood that the geometric relationships between the
It is also important to have a good connection between the
The embodiment of Figure 2 differs from that of Figure 1 only in that a
The features of the invention disclosed in the above description, the drawing and in the claims can be essential both individually and in any combination for realizing the invention in its various configurations.
