Description

The invention relates to a new method for giving relief in several directions to a textile fabric.

It is well known to make fabrics pleated longitudinally (warp direction) or transversely (weft direction). The invention relates to a new method making it possible to produce relief effects in several directions, that is to say both in the warp direction and in the weft direction.

The process according to the invention for giving relief in several directions to a textile fabric, is characterized in that it consists:
  • in a known manner, to wind this fabric on a support tube,
  • then, to remove said support tube,
  • then compressing the winding in the longitudinal direction of said support,
  • finally, to fix the winding thus compressed.

Avantageusement, en pratique:

  • l'enroulement est formé par une pluralité de spires superposées enroulées les unes sur les autres sous une tension usuelle;
  • une fois que l'enroulement est terminé, on introduit dans le tube support un mandrin rigide dont le diamètre extérieur est notablement inférieur au diamètre intérieur dudit support, puis l'on retire ce tube support et on comprime alors l'enroulement dans le sens longitudinal, c'est-à-dire le long de l'axe dudit mandrin;
  • on comprime longitudinalement l'enroulement en le serrant sur ses deux flancs, par exemple en appliquant une force à des plaques coulissant sur le mandrin rigide;
  • on fixe les déformations ainsi communiquées à la vapeur humide chaude, notamment à l'étuve, puis on déroule l'étoffe pour la présenter de façon conventionnelle;
  • dans une variante, on enroule le tissu sur le support rigide en intercalant entre chaque spire un élément intercalaire compressible, tel que par exemple un matériau en feuille de mousse plastique; avantageusement, cette mousse présente une face thermocollante, de sorte que lors du traitement, cette face adhère à l'étoffe et conduise à un produit doublé de mousse;
  • l'étoffe est un tissu chaîne et trame en fibres synthétiques;
  • dans une autre variante, l'enroulement initial après avoir été retiré du tube support est disposé librement en S autour d'une pluralité impaire de barres parallèles dont deux seulement sont enveloppées par l'intérieur dudit enroulement, alors que les autres sont enveloppées par l'extérieur de cet enroulement qui les entoure alors en double épaisseur;
  • dans une autre variante, l'enroulement initial, après avoir été retiré du tube support, est disposé librement autour d'une pluralité de paires de barres enveloppées alternativement par l'intérieur puis par l'extérieur dudit enroulement en une simple épaisseur;
  • dans une autre variante, l'enroulement initial, après avoir été retiré du tube support est placé dans un tube pour être comprimé longitudinalement;
  • l'étoffe est un tissu chaîne et trame en fibres naturelles enduites de résine lui permettant de lui conférer un caractère thermoplastique;
Advantageously, in practice:
  • the winding is formed by a plurality of superimposed turns wound on each other under a usual tension;
  • once the winding is finished, a rigid mandrel is inserted into the support tube, the outside diameter of which is considerably less than the inside diameter of said support, then this support tube is removed and the winding is then compressed in the longitudinal direction , that is to say along the axis of said mandrel;
  • the winding is compressed longitudinally by tightening it on its two sides, for example by applying a force to plates sliding on the rigid mandrel;
  • the deformations thus communicated are fixed with hot humid steam, in particular in an oven, then the fabric is unwound to present it in a conventional manner;
  • in a variant, the fabric is wound on the rigid support by inserting between each turn a compressible intermediate element, such as for example a plastic foam sheet material; advantageously, this foam has a fusible face, so that during the treatment, this face adheres to the fabric and leads to a product lined with foam;
  • the fabric is a warp and weft fabric of synthetic fibers;
  • in another variant, the initial winding after having been removed from the support tube is freely arranged in S around an odd plurality of parallel bars, only two of which are wrapped by the interior of said winding, while the others are wrapped by l 'outside of this winding which then surrounds them in double thickness;
  • in another variant, the initial winding, after having been removed from the support tube, is freely arranged around a plurality of pairs of bars alternately wrapped inside and then outside of said winding in a single thickness;
  • in another variant, the initial winding, after having been removed from the support tube, is placed in a tube to be compressed longitudinally;
  • the fabric is a warp and weft fabric of natural fibers coated with resin allowing it to impart a thermoplastic character;
  • the fabrics, in particular the fabrics treated in this way, are characterized by a succession of relief patterns in the form of diamonds or diamond points, arranged in several directions, both in warp and in weft, the dimensions of these reliefs being able to be variable or not along the chain and may or may not be homogeneous.

If a single support tube is used, the smaller the radius of curvature of said tube, the smaller the patterns and will be heterogeneous from the start to the end of the part. On the other hand, if the radius of curvature is large, the pattern will be long and substantially homogeneous from the start to the end of the part.

In a variant, if small and homogeneous patterns are desired from the start to the end of the part, a plurality of small diameter axes are used around which said winding obtained is placed on an initial large diameter mandrel after having removed said initial support. Depending on the arrangement of the axes, regular or irregular patterns are then obtained.

The manner in which the invention can be implemented and the advantages which ensue therefrom will emerge more clearly from the following exemplary embodiments given by way of indication but not limitation.

Exemple 1Example 1

On a hollow plastic tube with an outside diameter: 40 mm, fifty meters of a 160 cm wide fabric is wound with warp and weft in polyester thread, tafeta weave, weighing 65 grams / linear meter.

This winding is carried out at normal voltage for this type of operation. This produces a medium hard winding.

Once the winding is finished, a second stainless steel tube with an outside diameter of 30 mm is placed in the tube, then the first tube is removed.

Sliding rings are introduced on this second tube at each end. These sliding rings are then brought together as closely as possible, which bear on the sides of the winding and thus compress the latter in the longitudinal direction along the generatrix of the second mandrel. When the maximum compression of the winding is obtained, the sliding rings are locked by pins.

The winding thus compressed is then placed for thirty minutes in an oven of saturated steam at 140 ° C.

After cooling and unwinding, we obtain a fabric with a series of reliefs in all directions reminiscent of diamonds or diamond points. The dimensions of these figures and of these deformations are increasing from the inside of the winding towards the outside thereof, as a function of the increase in the diameter of the winding. We thus obtain new and original effects by this geometry which varies from the beginning to the end of the piece.

Exemple 2Example 2

The previous example is repeated, replacing the first support tube with a rigid sheet steel tube. This sheet is split on a generator. This thus split tube has an outer circumference of one meter.

Once the fifty meters of the same fabric has been wound, a rigid plate pierced with a hole whose diameter (32 cm) corresponds to the outside diameter of the tube is placed on each end of this tube. This winding is then compressed on its two sides. The compression thus given causes the reduction of the diameter of the support tube and the longitudinal crushing of the turns.

On fixe dans les mêmes conditions qu'à l'exemple 1, c'est-à-dire à l'étuve humide à 140 °C.Is fixed under the same conditions as in Example 1, that is to say in the humid oven at 140 ° C.

As a result of the large radius of curvature of the initial support tube, the pattern obtained has larger dimensions than in Example 1. On the other hand, from the beginning to the end of the part, the pattern obtained is substantially homogeneous.

Exemple 3Example 3

Winding is carried out under the same conditions as in Example 2. Once the winding is obtained, the split support tube is removed on its generatrix and this winding is folded staggered around five parallel rigid axes fixed on a plate .

This initial winding is freely arranged in S around these bars which are wrapped two by the inside of the winding and three by the outside of the latter in double thickness.

The S-shaped stack thus obtained is then compressed longitudinally. The deformation is fixed under the same conditions as in Example 1.

The patterns obtained are substantially homogeneous from the beginning to the end of the fabric and are formed by a succession of small, then of means, and finally of large patterns, the whole repeating itself in a homogeneous manner from the beginning to the end of the piece. .

Exemple 4Example 4

A winding is carried out under the same conditions as in Example 2.

After removing the split rigid support tube, the winding obtained is arranged in a sinusoid around twelve parallel bars staggered on either side of a circle with a radius of 120 cm. These bars are alternately placed outside, then inside this circle. The outer bars are wrapped from the inside of the winding, while the inner bars are wrapped from the outside of this winding.

The crown stack thus obtained is then compressed longitudinally.

On fixe dans les mêmes conditions qu'à l'exemple 1.One fixes under the same conditions as in Example 1.

One thus obtains not only homogeneous patterns from the beginning to the end of the piece, but also and above all, fine and regular patterns and a regular longitudinal undulation of the fabrics which gives it an additional and original bulk.

The fabrics treated according to the invention are as already said advantageously, synthetic fibers, that is to say thermoplastic fibers so as to have a permanent effect. These relief fabrics can therefore be used successfully in clothing, furniture, decoration, in particular for the manufacture of wall coverings.
