- Cards are therefore already known which are designed as composite cards, a security paper layer being enclosed between two plastic layers (cf. FR-A-2 176 463). Cards of this type are relatively expensive to produce and, in particular, do not offer any security because separation along the paper layer is easily possible.
- Fig. 1 the basic structure of the plastic card from two half parts 2 and 3 is shown. A relief structure is embossed in each of these half parts before assembly.
- the relief in the half-part 3 is preferably embossed in such a way that the total amount of material remains constant and there is only a shift in the amount of material from the areas 5 to the areas 4. This means that the average thickness over the areas 4 and 5 provided with a relief structure is equal to the thickness of the rest of the map.
- the other half part 2 is provided with a corresponding, opposing embossing, the embossing mold used for this purpose being preferably electrolytically molded from the first embossing mold. The two half parts are then inseparably formed into a single part by laminating.
- the plastic molecules polymerize at least in the unprinted areas, so that a molecular connection is formed which makes separation impossible.
- graphic patterns are now printed on the inner interfaces, which, together with the relief structure, form visual security features.
- the surfaces of the assembled card 1 are flat and can be printed or coated in a conventional manner. The characteristic mark is completely inaccessible in the card.

If this is to be associated with see-through marking in the manner of a watermark, then one half part must continue to be made from transparent, the other from opaque thermoplastic.

Since the half part 3 consists of a thermoplastic material with an increased light absorption coefficient in comparison to the other, opposite half part, the light absorption in the view is greater at the points 4 of greater (averaged) thickness or at the points 5 smaller (averaged) thickness smaller than in the remaining places.
- a darkened area 4 which is surrounded by lighter areas 5, can thus be seen in the view. If the map is now viewed in an oblique view, as shown in FIG. 3b, the line pattern 8 appears slightly wavy and the darkened or raised areas 4 and 5 disappear. This creates a double effect of supervisory labeling and transparency labeling. This combination of inspection and supervisory labeling increases the difficulty of counterfeiting such cards and therefore further increases their security.

- a variant of this configuration is shown in section in FIG. 4.
- the interface between the two half parts 2 and 3 each has a linear grid-shaped relief structure. This is provided with a printed pattern on one of the half parts, the appearance of which changes in the top view and in the view depending on the viewing angle.
- This variant is based on a relief structure which has at least approximately a rectangular shape 9.
- the side flanks and valley bottoms are provided with a color layer 10, while the tops remain free of color.
- the color areas 10 are essentially perceptible as lines, while in oblique view they merge to form a continuous color area. If colors with low light transmission are used, a different brightness is determined in the view depending on the view angle. When viewed vertically, greater belliness is perceived than when viewed diagonally.
- gaps 13 are provided as an additional security feature in the printing just explained, which are arranged in certain directions in a line. In supervision this is not noticeable if this structure is sufficiently finely decorated. However, if a flat viewing angle is selected, then bright alleys appear in a dark environment. This effect, which is known per se from banknotes, but where an uneven surface is assumed, can easily be used in the manner explained as an additional security feature for flat all-plastic types.
- FIG. 6 shows an embodiment whose relief structure essentially has a triangular shape 11 in cross section.
- One flank 12 is provided with a color layer 12, while the other flank is free of color.
- a changed appearance of the print pattern becomes visible, namely changing between a mere dash pattern (arrow on the left in FIG. 6) to a continuous colored area (arrow on the right in FIG. 6).
- the perceptible brightness behaves asymmetrically if a color with low light transmission is used. If the card is tilted on the one side from a vertical view, the brightness increases, but when it is tilted on the other side it decreases.
- This easily ascertainable security feature cannot be imitated by means of external counterfeiting measures, such as external imprints, and on the other hand, since it is located on the inside of the card, manipulations are inaccessible.
