Abstract

Selon l'invention, on protège l'acier liquide, qui s'écoule en un courant à partier d'un récipient tel qu'une poche (A), soit dans une lingotière (B), soit dans un moule de coulée continue, en l'isolant de l'atmosphère environnante au moyen d'un écran d'anhydride carbonique. L'anhydride carbonique se décompose pour former un écran protecteur de gaz inerte. L'absorption d'oxygène par l'acier reste négligeable. Les moules ou lingotières utilisés pour recevoir l'aicer liquide versé par la poche sont purgés au moyen d'anhydride carbonique avant la coulée.
