Abstract

An applicator for curtain-pouring plastics or the like material of pourable consistency in which a base plate contains, inserted in a recess thereof, an applicator die block provided with a slit-shaped pouring orifice. On the base plate there are articulatedly mounted two half shells, forming an applicator head and adapted to be spread apart, and sealed with each other and with the base plate by means of sealing strips. Thus, there is no need for a re-adjustment of the orifice after each opening of the applicator head. Also, the width and/or length of the orifice can be readily changed by exchanging the applicator die block, and the entire structure is simple and of relatively low cost.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Giesskopf für den Vorhangguss gemäss Oberbegriff des Patentanspruchs 1.The invention relates to a casting head for curtain casting according to the preamble of claim 1.

A casting head of this type is known, for example, from publication DE-B-1 190 367.

Curtain casting is a widely used process for coating objects of all kinds. B. in the photo industry in the production of photographic materials, for painting wood and metal plates and more recently for the coating of electrical circuit boards with e.g. Solder resist or the like used.

A slotted caster is usually used for the application of lacquer coatings; this is a casting head with an adjustable casting gap at its lower end through which the coating compound emerges in doses and then sinks down from there onto the material to be coated in a freely falling curtain. A known such casting head consists of two at its upper end hinged to each other jaws or shells, at the lower ends of which a knife-like bar is provided, which bars form the casting gap between them, the width or width of the casting gap by mutual approaching or removing the two casting bowls is regulated. To clean the pouring head, one of the two bowls can be folded up and the pouring head opened.

This well-known pouring head has several serious disadvantages. For example, the casting gap width must be reset after each opening of the casting head, which is critical and tedious and the result depends on the care of the operating personnel. Furthermore, the gap width setting can only be locked in the direction of closing, there is no clear locking against unintentional opening of the casting gap. Furthermore, the strips forming the pouring gap (pouring lips) are only laboriously replaceable in the event of damage and then require a lengthy and time-consuming readjustment each time. Furthermore, the length of the casting gap cannot be changed easily. In addition, the known casting head has the disadvantage of moving sealing surfaces on the end faces. There are only ground sealing surfaces that often leak. Seeping varnish hardens and, if the pouring head is then difficult to open, easily damages the sanded surfaces. Finally, the well-known casting head consists of a heavy chrome steel welded construction and is therefore relatively expensive to manufacture.

The object of the invention is therefore to improve a casting head of the type in question while avoiding the enumerated shortcomings of the known casting heads so that no adjustment of the casting gap after opening the head is necessary, that the casting gap can be easily changed, and that sealing problems largely be reduced.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of patent claim 1. Preferred configurations result from the dependent claims.

The casting head according to the invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. The only drawing figure shows a vertical section through the pouring head.

The casting head shown is mounted in a frame G. It comprises a base plate 1, two casting head shells 2 and 3 and a casting ruler 4 with a casting gap 41.

The two shells 2 and 3 are provided on their mutually facing sides with recesses which together form two elongated distribution channels 21 and 22 which are connected to one another. The two shells 2 and 3 are hinged to the base plate 1 by means of hinges 23 and 33 about axes 24 and 34 which are parallel to the longitudinal extension of the casting ruler 4, so that they therefore move from the vertical position shown, in which the casting head is closed, to a horizontal position can be unfolded. In this position, the casting head is open and the casting ruler 4, which is loosely arranged in a corresponding recess 12 in the base plate 1, can be removed from the casting head or the like. be replaced.

For the mutual sealing of the two shells 2 and 3, a sealing cord 35 is provided, which is inserted into a circumferential groove 36 in the sealing surface 37 of the shell 3. Analogously, the sealing against the casting ruler 4 takes place by means of a further sealing cord 45 in a circumferential groove 46 in the surface of the casting ruler 4.

The coating material is supplied via a line connection 5, which opens into the upper distribution channel 21 via an opening 31 in the right casting head shell 3.

The two casting head shells 2 and 3 are held together by clamps 6.

In the case of the casting head according to the invention, the casting ruler can be replaced quickly and effortlessly if it is defective or soiled, any adjustment being unnecessary, since the casting gap in the ruler is precisely predetermined. The dimensions of the casting gap can easily be changed at any time by inserting an appropriate casting ruler. Since the sealing of the individual parts of the casting head does not take place on moving sealing surfaces, there are no sealing problems. Finally, the design of the pouring head is simple and inexpensive.
