Die durch den gemeinsamen Gesamt-Zuschnitt zusammengehaltenen Packungen bilden eine gut zu handhabende Einheit. Diese faltet jeweils die beim Ausschub der Packungen 10, 11 aus dem Revolver 35 nunmehr vornliegenden Seitenstirnlappen 30 gegen die zugeordneten Stirnseiten 14 und 15. Innerhalb des Packungsturms 69 werden somit die komplettierten Packungen 10, 11 weitertransportiert.An upward-facing packing tower 69 adjoins the horizontal discharge conveyor 66 in the present case, into which the mostly finished packs 10, 11 are inserted one after the other from below by means of a plunger. By entering the packing tower 69, the upper longitudinal front flap 25 is folded through the side walls of the same to complete the packing 10, 11 against the end face 14, 15. The completed packs 10, 11 are thus transported further within the packing tower 69.

Eine Besonderheit besteht darin, daß bei dem Einschub der Packungen 10, 11 die zunächst in Transportrichtung vornliegenden Seitenstirnlappen 27 und 28 durch ortsfeste Faltorgane gegen die zugeordneten Stirnseiten 14,15 gefaltet werden, obwohl die Einheit des Gesamt-Zuschnitts 18 noch besteht. Die Taschen 34 des Revolvers 35 sind zu diesem Zweck mit Schaltfingern 71 und 72 ausgerüstet. Diese Faltorgane bilden die Seitenbegrenzung der Taschen 34, wobei die in der Mitte derselben sich in Radialrichtung erstreckenden Faltfinger 72 durch den Messerspalt 63 voneinander getrennt sind. Die sich über die volle Breite des im vorliegenden Fall auf zwei Packungen 10, 11 ausgelegten Revolvers 35 sich erstreckenden Taschen 34 sind demnach durch die mittleren Faltfinger 72 in zwei Teiltaschen, je zur Aufnahme einer Packung 10, 11, unterteilt. Beim Einschub der Packungen 10, 11 in die so ausgebildete Tasche 34 werden demnach an bei den Seiten die in Einschubrichtung vornliegenden Seitenstirnlappen 27, 28 durch die Faltfinger 71 und 72 umgefaltet. Im Bereich zwischen den Packungen 10, 11 ist dieser Faltvorgang durch den Vorschnitt 29 möglich, ohne daß es zu Zwängungen oder Faltenbildung in dem Gesamtzuschnitt 18 kommt.A special feature is that when the packs 10, 11 are inserted, the side end flaps 27 and 28, which are initially in the transport direction, are folded against the associated end faces 14, 15 by stationary folding members, although the unit of the overall blank 18 still exists. Claims (13)

1. Method of wrapping packets in blanks, especially cigarette packets in film blanks, which are folded round in U-shape around the packets being conveyed relatively to them, and thereafter are fully folded, chartaracterised in that at least two packets (10, 11) are conveyed simultaneously to form a series of packets lying in succession, with a transverse spacing between them, a common, correspondingly dimensioned overall blank (18) is folded around the two packets (10, 11), and, after formation of a tubular blank by connection together of overlapping tube flaps (23, 24), the blank is cut through in the area between packets (10, 11).
2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that lateral end flaps (27, 28) of the overall blank (18), which are leading in the direction of movement and project at the sides, can be folded against end faces (14, 15) of the packet (10, 11) by a folder (71, 72), while a preliminary cut (29) is made in the overall blank or in the web (21) of material, approximately centrally between adjacent packets (10, 11), in such a way that the lateral end flaps (27) which are adjacent to one another can be folded against the associated end faces (14, 15) of the packet (10.11).
3. Method according to claim 2, characterised in that the preliminary cuts (29) are made in the web (21) of material for manufacture of the overall blanks (18) or in the overall blanks (18), before reception of the latter by the packets (10, 11

Apparatus for wrapping of packets (10, 11) in blanks, especially of cigarette packets in film blanks, which can be folded round in U-shape around the packets being conveyed relatively to the said blanks, and which can be pushed with the said packets into a pocket (34) of a conveyor, and also can be fully folded by folding means, characterised in that at least two packets (10, 11) can be pushed in unison with a correspondingly dimensioned overall blank (18), to form a series of packets lying in succession with a transverse spacing between them, into a pocket (34) of the conveyor, the pocket being correspondingly dimensioned in the longitudinal direction, a turret (35) or the like serving as the conveyor.
5. Apparatus according to claim 4, characterised in that, before or during further movement of the turret (35), tube flaps (23, 24) extending in the radial direction above the packets (10,11) arranged in the pockets (34), and projecting out of the pockets, can be folded one after the other against the longitudinal faces (17) of the packets (10, 11), and can be adhered or sealed together.

Apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that a sealing means, especially a sealing strip (55) corresponding approximately to the length of the overall blank (18), is movable in a sealing station in a radial direction against the longitudinal faces (16, 17) of the packets (10, 11), directed outwards, or against the tube flaps (23, 24) which overlap each other.

Apparatus according to one or more of Claims 4 to 6, characterised in that a number of stationary separating knives (59) corresponding to the number of separating cuts (22) to be made, preferably at least one rotat ably driven disc knife in the centre of the turret (35) is mounted in relation to the turret (35) or the like, in the area of a separating station (58), which disc knife projects into a recess (63) formed in the pockets, for complete cutting through of the overall blank (18) in the area between adjacent packets (10, 11).
8. Apparatus according to claim 7, characterised in that the separating station (58) comes after the sealing station in the direction of conveying of the packets.
9. Apparatus according to one or more of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that the packets (10,11), with the associated overall blank, can be moved past stationary folding means (71, 72) in the area near the packets (10, 11), in such a way that the lateral end flaps (27) which are leading in the direction of movement can be folded against the laterally directed end faces (14,15) of the packets (10, 11), while the folding fingers (71, 72) are designed preferably as lateral boundaries of the pockets (34) or of partial pockets of the turret (35).
10. Apparatus according to claim 9, characterised in that, in an area between two adjacent packets, there are arranged two folding fingers (71, 72) separated from one another by the recess designed as a knife slot (63), and they are each associated with the end faces (14, 15) of the adjacent packets (10, 11) facing each other.
11. Apparatus according to one or more of claims 4 to 10, characterised in that preliminary cuts (29) are made in the area between adjacent packets (10, 11) in the overall blank (18), especially in the web (21) of material, with such a length that the lateral end flaps (27) separated from one another by the preliminary cut (29) can also be folded against the end faces (14, 15) with preservation of the overall blank (18).
12. Apparatus according to claim 11, characterised in that the preliminary cuts (29) can be made in the web (21) of material by segmental knives which are arranged, spaced from one another, on the periphery of a tension roller (42) or the like.
13. Apparatus according to claim 12, characterised in that a second tension roller (41), acting as opposing roller to the tension roller (42), is provided in the area of the knife segments (43, 44) with a circumferential incision (45).
