Description
The invention relates to a fuse cartridge with a porcelain body, in which a melting wire embedded in sand extends between a lower contact foot and an upper contact head and which has an indicator which consists of a glow lamp which is connected in parallel with the melting wire via a high-resistance resistor.
In these fuse cartridges, known from DE-OS 31 03 478 by the same applicant, the colored plate previously used as indicator, which should fall off when the fuse blows, is replaced by a glow lamp. This is connected in series with a high-resistance resistor, which is designed according to Ohm's law so that it takes into account the voltage difference between the current required for the glow lamp; the mains voltage of the line network in which the fuse cartridge is inserted and the glow voltage of the glow lamp (which is e.g. 60 volts) destroyed.
With this known fuse cartridge, the optical function test of the fuse cartridge has been made considerably easier, since a defective fuse now lights up actively (as long as an external short circuit is still maintained and / or external consumers are switched on) when the fuse has blown. It can be used to reliably determine whether a fuse is still usable or whether it has already blown, even under the most unfavorable conditions.
A disadvantage of the known Sehmelz securing cartridge, however, is on the one hand the spatial arrangement of the high resistance and on the other hand the dissipation of the (Joule) heat generated by this high resistance. Thus, in the known fuse cartridge, a separate bore for the high resistance in the porcelain body is provided, but this requires additional effort, namely higher tool costs, higher unit costs of the porcelain body, etc. In addition, the heat generated by the high resistance is poorly dissipated, since porcelain is known to be a poor heat conductor . In addition, this heat dissipation occurs unevenly, because the high-resistance is typically due to the assembly, purely by chance, at a surface line of the inner bore of the porcelain body belonging to it, but is otherwise separated from the wall of this inner bore by a crescent-shaped air space.
Proceeding from this, it is an object of the invention to avoid the disadvantages of the known fuse cartridge and to provide a fuse cartridge which, with less expensive manufacture, enables better heat dissipation of the heat generated when the glowing lamp is lit, that is to say a blown fuse.
Starting from the known fuse cartridge, this object is achieved in that the high-resistance resistor is also embedded in the sand.
According to the invention, fuse wire and high-resistance are thus in the same sand bed. As a result, only one through hole in the porcelain body is required, which also serves for the fuse wire and the high-resistance resistor. In addition, the heat generated by the high-resistance resistor is dissipated evenly through the sand on all sides, so that the high-resistance resistor cannot heat unevenly. This heat dissipation on all sides is known per se, it is used for the fuse wire, since the fuse wire can also heat up in practical operation. However, since only the fuse wire can heat up when the fuse is intact, and only the high-resistance resistor can heat up when the fuse is defective, an addition of generated heat quantities does not occur, so that the sand bed present in the known fuse cartridge is now also advantageously used when the fuse wire is blown.
In an advantageous development of the invention, the high-ohmic resistance is encased by an insulating tube, in particular a silicone tube or a steatite tube. This creates protection against flashover. Furthermore, the connection ends of the glow lamp, in particular the connection end directly connected to the high-resistance resistor, can also be made of an insulating tube, in particular again a silicone tube or a Steatite tubes are surrounded. A continuous insulating material jacket, which envelops the high-resistance resistor and the connecting end of the glow lamp connected to it, has proven to be particularly advantageous. This prevents flashovers, in particular the connection point is protected by high-resistance and glow lamp.
Finally, in a further development of the invention, the resistance value of the high-resistance resistor is 500 to 1,000 megohms. This value is designed for 220 V mains voltage. With higher or lower mains voltage values, the resistance value increases or decreases in proportion. The resistance values given here, somewhat higher than those of DE ~ 0S 31 03 478, have proven themselves very well in practical operation.
The glow lamp is advantageously arranged centrally on the front of the cartridge, in particular in the center of the contact head. Since the fuse cartridge is usually held by a screw cap with a shop window, this arrangement of the glow lamp makes it particularly easy to recognize.
In order to identify the amperage associated with the fuse, the glow lamp is preferably surrounded by a colored identification ring.
Finally, the inside diameter of the cylindrical interior, in which both the Fusible wire and the high resistance are located larger than in the porcelain body of the known fuse cartridge. In particular, this inner diameter is only slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the contact foot.
- Fig. 1 is a sectional representation of a fuse cartridge according to the invention, and
- 2 shows the circuit diagram for the fuse cartridge according to FIG. 1.
The fuse cartridge shown in the drawing has a
At this point, the fuse wire and
If the operating current in the current path 19 (FIG. 2) exceeds the nominal current for which the fuse cartridge is designed, the
