Claims (20)

1. An apparatus for packaging small objects, in particular chocolates, in a box (1) comprising a main portion (2) consisting of two front walls (3, 4) and two sidewalls (5, 6) extending upwardly from a rectangular bottom and each provided with an upper closing flap (7, 8, 9, 10), the upper closing flaps (9, 10) of the side walls (5, 6) each having a tongue (11, 12) with a recess (13, 14) extending in the area of the upper edge of the upper closing flap (9, 10) and the two recesses (13, 14) having openings facing each other, and the box (1) being closed by bending in the shape of a pointed arch the upper closing flaps (9, 10) of the side walls (5, 6) over the inwardly bent upper closing flaps (7, 8) of the front walls (3, 4) and engaging the tongues (11, 12) by interlocking the recesses (13, 14), characterized by a conveying means for the boxes (1), a means for feeding the boxes (1) to a first unit (17) of the conveying means, a means for filling the boxes (1) with the object(s) at a following unit (19) of the conveying means and a means for closing the boxes (1) in a unit (22) of the conveying means disposed after the filling means, the closing means having two depressers (32, 33) for inwardly bending the closing flaps (7, 8) of the front walls (3, 4), each designed in the shape of a portion extending in the horizontal direction disposed on a lever (36, 37) rotatable about a vertical axis (38, 39) and both capable of being moved toward each other like pincers, two arms (40,41) capable of being moved toward each other for bending the closing flaps (9, 10) of the side walls (5, 6) in the shape of a pointed arch over the closing flaps (7, 8) of the front walls (3, 4) bent inwardly by the depressers (32, 33) and each designed in the shape of a portion extending horizontally disposed on a lever (42, 43) and rotatable about a horizontal axis, and two tongue locking elements (56, 57) capable of being moved toward each other, each acting upon the side portion (11 ", 12") of the tongue (11, 12) facing away from the recess (13, 14) and being movable from one front wall side of the box (1) to the oppositefront wall side thereof beyond the pointed arch formed by the closing flaps (9, 10) of the side walls (5, 6) bent by the gripping arms (40, 41
2. The apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the tongue locking elements (56, 57) have a hammer head shape and a slope (58) extending toward the tongue (11, 12) from the bottom to the top at the end of the tongue locking portion which acts upon the tongue (11, 12).
3. The apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that the two tongue locking portions (56, 57) are each disposed on a lever (46, 47) and the two levers (46, 47) are pivotable about a horizontal axis (44, 45).
4. The apparatus according to claim 3 in combination with claim 6, characterized in that one of the two gripping arm levers (42, 43) pivotable about the same swivelling axis (44, 45) is associated with each of the two tongue locking elements (56, 57).

The apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that the two tongue locking levers (46, 47) are disposed stationarily on the swivelling axes (44, 45) and the gripping arm levers (42, 43) are disposed rotatably thereon, each gripping arm lever (42, 43) being provided with a slot (50, 51) and the associated tongue locking lever (46, 47) being provided with a peg (52, 53) which engages with the slot (50, 51), and each gripping arm lever (42, 43) being spring-loaded toward the associated tongue locking lever (46, 47).

The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that meshing gearwheels (59, 60) are provided on the two swivelling axes (44,45) of the tongue locking levers (56, 57), and a lever (61) is stationarily disposed on one of the two gearwheels (59), the other end of said lever being flexibly acted upon by a connecting rod (62) which is movable up and down.
7. The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that a tongue aligning means (63) is provided after the closing means in the direction of transport of the conveying means.

The apparatus according to claim 7, characterized in that the tongue aligning means (63) comprises three fingers (64, 65, 66) disposed one beside the other and extending in the direction of transport of the conveying means, the two lateral fingers (64, 66) grasping under the one and the other tonaue (11. 12)_ respectively, and the middle finger (65) grasping from above between the tongues (11, 12) undergrasped by the two lateral fingers (64, 66).
9. The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that a means for bringing the interlocking recesses (13, 14) in the tongues (11, 12) into their active positionis provided at the unit (23) of the conveying means following the closing means.
10. The apparatus according to claim 9, characterized in that the means for bringing the interlocking recesses (13, 14) into their active position has a lever (67) for pressing diagonally onto a corner between a side wall (6) and a front wall (4).
11. The apparatus according to claim 10, characterized in that the lever (67) is pivotable about a vertical axis (68).

The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that the conveying means has a disk (16) rotatable about a vertical axis, which is provided along its periphery with receivers (27) into which the boxes (1) are inserted in the area of their bottoms, with their front walls (3, 4) in the peripheral direction.
13. The apparatus according to claim 12, characterized in that the box feeding means (28) has at the first unit (17) of the conveying means a magazine (21) with folded up boxes (1) and a box unfolding means (30).
14. The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that a transport belt (31) is provided for conveying the objects (25) to be packaged to the filling means at the filling unit (19).
15. The apparatus according to claim 14, characterized in that the objects (25) to be packaged are fed successively to the filling means from the transport belt (31).
16. The apparatus according to claim 14 or 15, characterized in that the filling means has a number of suction grippers corresponding to the number of objects to be filled into the boxes (1), said suction grippers being disposed on a lever which is movable up and down and rotatable the filling unit (19).
17. The apparatus according to any of the above claims, characterized in that the closed boxes (1) are transported away from the conveying means with a transport belt (26).
18. The apparatus according to claim 17, characterized in that the closed boxes (1) are released by the receivers (27) in the rotatable disk (16) onto the transport belt (26) by providing a die for pressing the boxes (1) upward and a slide which is outwardly movable radially.
19. The apparatus according to any of claims 14 to 18, characterized in that the transport belt (31) for conveying the objects (25) to be packaged to the filling unit (19) and the transport belt (26) for transporting the closed boxes (1) away run in a parallel direction to each other.
20. The apparatus according to any of the above claims characterized in that the closed boxes (1) are fed to a sealing means in which a seal drop is provided on the locked tongues (11, 12).
