Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Medaillen, bei dem zunächst ein mindestens auf der Kopfseite mit einer reliefartigen Darstellung versehener Gundkörper hergestellt wird, der anschließend einen glänzenden Überzug erhält. Durch die Erfindung soll ein solches Verfahren derart ausgestaltet werden, daß sich damit Medaillen herstellen las­ sen, die mindestens auf ihrer Kopfseite einen kombinierten Matt-Glanz-Überzug aufweisen, die dort vorhandene Darstel­ lung gut erkennen lassen, ein elegantes Aussehen besitzen und verfahrenstechnisch einfach herstellbar sind. Das wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch erreicht, daß nach Herstellung des auf einen ersten Glanzwert eingestellten vollflächigen Über­ zugs auf diesen ein nur die erhabenen Bereiche der Medaille erfassender, auf einen anderen Glanzwert eingestellter zwei­ ter Überzug aufgebracht wird, wobei die Herstellung dieses zweiten Überzugs vorzugsweise durch Aufprägen einer Heißprägefolie mittels eines Prägestempels mit elastischem Stempelkopf erfolgt, wobei die Elastizität des Stempelkopfs und der Prägedruck so aufeinander abgestimmt werden, daß die vertieften Bereiche der reliefartigen Darstellung vom Prägevorgang nicht erfaßt werden.
