Abstract

A process for which firstly a basic body is produced which is provided at least on the head side with a relief-type illustration and subsequently receives a glossy coating. The intention of the invention is to design a process of this type in such a way that it can be used to manufacture medals which have at least on their head side a combined matt/gloss coating, allow the illustration to be easily recognised, have an elegant appearance and can be produced by a simple process. This is achieved by the fact that, after production of the coating, which has been set to a first gloss value, over the entire surface, a second coating, which has been set to a different gloss value, is applied only to the raised regions of the medal on said first coating. Dabei werden bislang im wesentlichen entweder hochglänzende oder aber mattglänzende Überzüge aufgebracht. Abgesehen davon, daß sich damit Glanzmuster nur auf im wesentlichen ebenflächige Gegenstände, nicht jedoch auf Medaillen übertragen lassen, die z.T. stark vorstehende Bereiche aufweisen, ist es bei diesem bekannten Material nachteilig, daß für jede Darstellung ein besonderes Muster hergestellt und beim Übertragungsvorgang der zu dekorierende Gegenstand absolut lagegenau zugeführt werden muß.
