Abstract

Caravans and cabins are generally equipped with wheels and connected to a towing vehicle such as a trailer. According to this invention, the sides of a caravan or hut are provided with lifting uprights which can be raised or lowered, said uprights being at a transverse distance from each other and of such length that you can pass the loading platform of a vehicle under the caravan or cabin.

Description

Movable body comprising bottom, walls and roof
The present invention relates to a movable body comprising bottom, walls and roof. Examples of such bodies are caravans, labourers' huts, containers, etc. Such bodies are generally provided with wheels and connected to a towing vehicle. They are usually erected over consider able periods of time and it is then extremely impractical for them to be permanently provided with wheels since these are used very seldom. In some cases only perhaps a couple of times a year.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate the wheels for said bodies and instead use the loading platform of conventional trucks and conventional trailers. This means that the body can be given such width that when raised from the ground a loading platform can be passed under it and that when the loading platform us beneath the body, the body can be lower onto the platform. The body can thus easily be transported by means of a conventional vehicle which can be used for other purposes once the body has been erected. To enable the loading platform of a conventional vehicle to be used, the body is provided along its side walls with legs which can be raised and lowered, enabling it to be raised high enough for said loading platform to be passed under the body. Furthermore, the transverse distance between the legs is large enough for a loading platform to be inserted.
Additional features of the present invention are revealed in the following claim.
The present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The drawing shows a conventional trailer 1 and a labourers' hut 2 with flat bottom 3. The outer side of the bottom is provided with two longitudinal support beams 4 and 5. On the righthand side are three erection legs 6, 7 and 8 which can be raised or lowered. There are also similar legs on the lefthand side. The labourers' hut 2 described, and the trailer 1, function in the following manner. It is assumed that the labourers' hut 2 has been placed in one way or another on the loading platform of the trailer 1. The labourers' hut 2 is then transported on the trailer 1 to the desired point. When this has been reached, the 6 legs are brought into contact with the ground surface beneath so that the hut is raised from the trailer 1. When this has been done, the trailer can be removed without trouble .and used for other purposes. Once the trailer has been removed, the hut can be lowered closer to the ground if desired, or may be left at the original height.
When an erected labourers' hut 2 is to be moved, the trailer 1 is inserted under the bottom of the hut 2 if this is at a suitable height. If not, the legs must be adjusted to enable the trailer to be inserted under the bottom of the hut. The hut is then lowered onto the trailer platform by shortening the legs so that the bottom of the hut comes into contact with the trailer platform.

Claims

CLAIM
Movable body comprising bottom, walls and roof, such as a caravan, labourers' hut, container or the like, characterised in that at or close to its longitudinal sides, the body is provided with a number of legs which can be raised or lowered for supporting the body on a ground surface, said legs being at such transverse distance from each other and of such length that the loading platform of a conventional vehicle such as a truck or trailer can be passed under the body and that the outside of the body is flat and possibly provided externally with longitudinal support beams.
