Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a mobile and collapsible insulating insert for storage and transport containers.
Goods sensitive to temperature changes are often shipped in refrigerated containers. Such refrigerated containers are manufactured according to the sandwich construction and usually have a core made of polyurethane foam between an outer and inner lamination made of reinforced polyester. Such containers are relatively heavy and expensive. Particularly as an air freight container, the large weight of the container has a disadvantageous effect.
It was an object of the present invention to provide an insulating insert which makes it possible to convert ordinary storage and transport containers, such as aluminum, into insulating containers in a simple manner. The insulating insert according to the invention consists of a hood which consists of coherent outer surfaces made of non-foamed, flexible material, the mass and contours of which correspond to the inner surfaces of the container, and which has pockets which protrude into the interior of the hood and are arranged close to one another and projecting over the length of the outer surfaces has non-foamed, flexible material, which are alternately filled with a core of open-cell foam and closed foam, and which has a releasable closure arrangement that allows at least one to temporarily connect the outer surfaces with the adjacent outer surfaces, an insulating base plate and a liquid-tight base pan attached between the base of the storage and transport container and the base plate of the insulating insert.
Plastic foils, preferably PVC-coated polyester material, are expediently used as the non-foamed, flexible material for the outer surfaces and pockets. A material is preferably used which has a weight per unit area of 500 to 800 g /
The bags can be attached to the outer surfaces by sewing or welding. The size of the bags is to be aligned with the dimensions of the storage and transport container, the practical width for closed-cell core not less than 250 mm and for open-cell core not less than 120 mm and in both cases not more than 1000 mm. The bags are filled alternately with cores made of open-cell foam and cores made of closed-cell foam. This plump filling, in particular the open-cell foam core, presses the individual pockets closely together and practically fills the space between the pockets, which is caused by the manufacturing process. This prevents so-called thermal bridges.
Polyurethane foam or polyester fleece is expediently used as the open-cell material.
Polyolefin or polyvinyl chloride foam is expediently used as the closed-cell material.
The closure arrangement, which allows one of the outer surfaces to be connected to the adjacent outer surfaces and thus to achieve a closed system, expediently consists of zippers or so-called Velcro fasteners.
The bottom of the insulating insert consists of a base plate. This preferably consists of an insulated and statically resilient plate, suitably manufactured from a sandwich construction with cover layers from a lightly foamed plastic plate and the core is a semi-hard or hard foam insulation of less than 100 kg / m3 gross density. The load-bearing side of the sandwich panel is provided with 10 to 15 mm high and approx. 100 mm wide ribs made of slightly foamed plastic sheet material to ensure adequate cooling in the lower part of the cargo brought into the container. The surface of the load side has a glass fiber reinforced plastic coating.
There is a waterproof floor pan made of flexible, non-foamed plastic or coated fabric between the bottom of the container and the bottom of the insulating insert. The bottom trough can be firmly connected to the bottom of the insulating container. The tub can hold the folded insulation halters and the base plate described below are used.
Furthermore, a hanging trough for storing dry ice can be attached to the roof side of the insulating insert, the perforated lower part of which can be covered with rags for cold regulation. Through a closable opening on the front, additional dry ice can be placed in the hanging tub if required.
The insulation insert is made by mechanical fastening, e.g. Bolted to selected locations inside the storage and transport container. This mechanical fastening can be easily released again, so that the storage and transport container, depending on the intended use, can be used as a simple storage and transport container or, provided with the insulating insert, as a cold storage and cooling transport container.
